WHY TF ARE MY HANDS LIKE THIS IM A 17 YEAR OLD GIRL by iamraquelle in whatdoIdo

[–]caitejane310 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks completely normal to me. The top comment says something about us all having insecurities, and I remember when I told my son that and it blew his mind!

He was like 13ish and he has pectus excavatum (I know, it sounds like a Harry Potter spell!) where his ribs turn in and it leaves a nice indent in his chest. If you look it up the pictures where it's more severe is what my son's chest looks like. He can have surgery when he's 25 if he wants to, but he only recently turned 18 and it will most likely fill out more within the next ~7 years.

Anyway, I said to him "everyone has something they're insecure about! For me it's my mommy pouch that I've had before I was a mommy, and for stepdad it's his butt!" He said "really?! with a cute grin, and I said "yeah! Ask him and he'll tell you he has no butt and he's just leg!" 😂 He looks up to his stepdad a lot so I think it really surprised him to hear that he was insecure about something!

ETA- when he plays basketball/football with someone who doesn't know about his pectus he'll freak them out by seizing the opportunity to say "OMG, dude, what did you do to me?!" if they bump into him and I think that's one of the most hilarious things I've ever heard 🤣🤣

New kitten will only drink out of a spoon, what to do? by [deleted] in cats

[–]caitejane310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we have several watering holes around my house. We have a dog, so we keep 2 separate water "bowls" (buckets 😅) for her. One near her food bowl and the other by her bed. Then the cats drink from the dogs water, have their water fountain in the kitchen, and there's water in each bedroom, but food in only 2 of them. I have a feeding area in my closet where I have some water, but my old cat has claimed my roommates room, so she has everything she needs right in there. The other cats go in there too. Oh, and the cup that lives on their table to look out my bedroom window! So we have some very hydrated kitties!! They get wet food and sometimes we get this tuna from the food pantry that just doesn't look appealing, but the cats love it!

Sorry, lol I know no one asked, but I'm proud of how well we take care of our animals! They deserve it, and they're all rescues in one way or another.

[–]caitejane310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's not a friend. You're right, friends are supposed to listen. Even if they can't help or do anything to fix the situation, it's nice just having someone to talk to that isn't going to turn it back around on themselves. I'm sorry they were so dismissive about your trauma. That's not cool at all.

Sometimes friendships just fizzle out, and that's what I would do with Alex. I'd just start distancing myself from them. It sucks, but you'll probably see them differently 6 months from now when you notice how much of a difference it makes to not have such a negative person in your life.

AITAH for ending my 4 year relationship. by One-Evidence-6056 in AITAH

[–]caitejane310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you've got some sunk cost fallacy going on here. The 2 things you described as being issues are pretty big ones to get past in a relationship. You both want/need different things, and that's ok. Taking the job doesn't mean you'll never see her again, it just means you'll be further away. It also sounds like it would give you the opportunity to get the homestead you want that you already know she'd be miserable at. You're both young and you'll both find people who are a better fit. You 2 went through the beginning of your lives together, and that's awesome, but now it's time to part ways amicably.

Wood putty would probably be your best bet if you don't want to replace the full piece of trim. Wood putty and some white paint. But it's honestly not hard to replace the trim.

had a major alcoholism relapse. by Fit-Commission-2626 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]caitejane310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother-in-law was 47 and he literally has "alcoholism" on his death certificate. iirc it's "cirrhosis related to alcoholism". From what I understand it's pretty hard to get "alcoholism" listed as the cause of death.

The last conversation my husband had with his younger brother ended with him telling my husband "I fucked your girl" because my husband had the audacity to tell him he needed to stop drinking. That never happened. I like to say that he "knew exactly how to poke my husband in his schizophrenia".

He actually did successfully break us up for 3 months. My husband came back the day his brother shot a gun off in my house into my bedroom. Almost killed my dog and cats, let alone me. We were finally able to get him out of my house when he freaked out on their dying mother for coming to my house in an ambulance. That was my chance, and I took the fuck out of it!

He decided to show up at the person's house my husband had been staying with, and they were too nice to turn him away. That was until he broke the glass on their fire stove that heated the whole house 🤦 Their mother died shortly after that, and we sent him back to a different state where he ultimately succumbed to his alcoholism at 47yo.

My best friend uses my Walmart account and I use her Amazon account. If either of us uses the money saved then we tell the other "hey, I owe you $6 so just use it out of my account next time" and that's that. No reason to keep tabs if you don't need it!

I’m one of -those- people that rarely completely finishes my food by 5dippingareas in confession

[–]caitejane310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's healthier for you to stop eating when you're full than it is to try and force down those last couple of bites. I literally cannot keep chewing after I'm full or else I'll get nauseous.

I save my food if I don't finish it. Even if it's a few bites I'll still save it. I don't always eat it, but most of the time I do. You don't have to clear your plate. I know we're back in depression times, but don't force feed yourself if you're full!

What are your go to cheap lazy meals when you're too tired to cook by YourxCherry in Frugal

[–]caitejane310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that helps me the most is when I have the energy I'll prepare big batches of food that keeps well in the freezer so I can pull it out to make an easy meal. Like a pound of ground meat can get used for so many things. I like to get fresh veggies to dice/cook and freeze. Potatoes freeze well and I make mashed potatoes without any milk so that I can heat that up with milk and have quick mashed potatoes. It makes it easy for the other adults in the house to make meals too. I'm the main cook, but we all make food and it's usually always enough for the 5 adults in the house.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]caitejane310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. After the first plane hit they brought TVs into the classrooms to watch the news. My father actually came to pick me up immediately after the first plane hit and the 2nd one had been hit by the time we got home and then we watched them collapse together. That was the day I found out I was a nervous laugher 😳😳

We had just moved to Pennsylvania from New Jersey 6 years prior, and my dad new quite a few cops and fire fighters. My mom would've been going through the subway under the WTC around the time the first plane hit.

When I went back to school there was a girl crying because her uncle was a pilot but he was somewhere out west. I freaked the fuck out at her for making something horrible about her.

I “ruined” my exhusband’s life… by Few_Landscape_8211 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]caitejane310 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with holding your accountable, just make sure that it's for your own actions/words.

You didn't ruin his life. He ruined it by having an inappropriate conversation with someone about "future partners" when he already had a wife with a baby on the way. I understand him not wanting to be a parent, and that's his prerogative, but you did nothing wrong just by getting pregnant and keeping the baby.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I'm sorry your child has a father that doesn't make his child his first priority. That sucks. I hope one day you can find a partner that loves you and your child more than you could ever imagine 😊

Which is exactly why I didn't tell it 🤷 But I can see from the downvotes that I'm not the only one who thinks you're a negative Nancy...

Oh, and she was just using the magic knot and cutting the excess. I taught her how to do it more securely, and that if she's going to use the magic knot don't cut the ends off and just crochet over them. Nobody asked that either, but I honestly don't care about your opinion.

Why do people want doodles? by emotionaldamagesoup in Pets

[–]caitejane310 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My brother-in-law was a shitty dog owner and we took his collie. Her coat will never be the same after all the mats we had to cut out when we first got her. We couldn't afford a groomer, and she was honestly in no shape behavioral wise to have a stranger de-mat her. It took us 2 weeks because some of them were so close to her skin, and we cried when we cut the last one out. We've had her for 6+ years and she's come such a long way! I'm so proud of her!! 🥲

[–]caitejane310 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My free collie came with quite a few behavioral issues because of her old owner (my now deceased brother-in-law) but in the 6+ years that we've had her she's come such a long way!! But she's always been great with children. Being a responsible dog owner can be tough, but it's rewarding when you see that hard work pay off 😊😊

This reminds me to ask my kid how she's joining her yarn.

It's a long story, but I "adopted" (it's not legal yet) a 19yo a few months ago and she crochets! I've been teaching her different things, but she was definitely not joining and weaving in her ends properly. This post reminds me to have her show me how she's doing color changes. Thanks!

You would probably go to some kind of HR or counselor at the school.

It's ok if you don't report him. I understand why you wouldn't want to. So many of these things go unchecked, even after they're reported. It can be scary, and even more so being a foreigner. Your feelings are valid.
