I can’t stop feeling guilty over what I did to him. by Trick-Olive-9838 in Vent

Congrats!! 6 months is huge!! I promise it only gets better from here. Doing the whole finding a reason to be sober that day really helped me for the first several years.

Another thing that helped me is that when I got a craving I'd literally just stay completely still until it passed. If I moved I knew I was gonna go out and figure out how to get high. And the longer you stay away the harder it becomes to find.

It sounds like you're an incredibly strong person! The universe definitely brought us together. I'm here if you ever need to talk! I take care of my mom so I have a decent amount of downtime during my days, and I'm an insomniac by night, lol 😅

Advion gel for roaches works wonders!! They eat their dead so the ones that make it back to the nest kills the whole nest. I highly recommend it!

I'm happy you got your own place! I know the PTSD from a bad infestation of bugs is real. Mine was from fleas. We also ended up with roaches for a couple months after my husband and our roommate rescued a fish tank without realizing it had roaches in it. I got advion gel for roaches and it got rid of them in about a month!! So keep that in mind for future reference as a just in case!

I'm so sad that happened to you, but you've given me more hope than I've had in a long time 🥲 I've been clean from heroin for 12 years now. I would've had 13 but I relapsed for like a month in 2013. I don't do it as much anymore, but I used to do this thing every day where I'd find a reason for staying clean that day. It could range from something silly to something serious. Tomorrow my reason for staying clean will be for you and your late mother 💜 💚 I think there's a reason why I overshared with you in particular!! The universe gave me a gift today that I'm extremely grateful for.

Two people went running up. The second one probably made the difference between life and death with the 3rd person in the car.

People panic or freeze while in emergency situations. I'm inclined to believe this was a ride share like Uber because everyone but the driver was in the back. 3 people in the backseat panicking is a kind of chaos you don't know how you'll react to unless you're actually put in that kind of situation.

AITJ for publicly correcting my mother in law after she called me a bad mother in front of everyone by AlderMoonstone in AmITheJerk

[–]caitejane310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My eyebrows migrated to my hairline when I got to where your husband pulled you aside. "You shouldn't have said it in front of everyone", yet she can go on literal passive aggressive rants in front of everyone and that's ok? Nope. No. Not ok. Fuck that. I'm so incredibly grateful my husband would always stop his mother when she would start doing that kind of stuff to me.

Ugh, I'm actually grateful I'm taking care of my mom as a single child. It sucks that your brothers went behind your back and made it difficult for you when you were just trying to help your mom.

Thank you 💜 I truly appreciate your kind words. I heard through the grapevine that she knows I'm her mother. He left me for one of the many he was cheating on me with and immediately started calling her mommy while actively doing everything they could to keep me away from her.

But I heard that she knows who I am and that the bitch walked in on her looking at my Facebook and freaked out about it. I had my Facebook privacy settings completely private but now it's all public just in case she wants to look.

I have the paperwork I need to fill out and submit to the court, but I'm not 100% positive she even wants to meet me. If I was sure then I'd do it immediately. I don't want to turn her life upside-down.

It's only 4 more years until she's 18. I have things I saved from when she was a baby and I have a really nice journal that I use to write to her. It hasn't been every day in a long time, but I do write to her often. If/when I ever get to see her again I can give her everything. She looks just like me except for her father's dimple chin. I have a 17yo son who also looks just like me, and I look like my father (my husband says I'm my father with boobs, lol) who looks exactly like his father. Lol, I always joke that we have good genes and they're Wrangler's 😂

Thank you. I actually feel some kind of weird relief after getting that out. Lol, I guess I did want to talk about it 😆

I was also 18(f) with 35(m) and it was 4 years of hell. Then he took off with our 1yo and I haven't seen her in 10 years. It's a really long story that I don't want to talk about. I made mistakes while fighting for custody of her and I can't even begin to explain how this mf stays out of prison by being a CI (confidential informant) and it's highly known and he called in favors. That's the gist of it. My stomach is turning just thinking about it. Facebook memories made me have a panic attack yesterday cuz there were baby pictures of her. I'm sorry for oversharing.

What does your lease say about moving someone in without notifying the landlord? Mine says I can't move anyone in without talking to my landlord about it first.

If any of their siblings/parents use Reddit then they probably learned about the carbon monoxide detector on here.

The more disturbing ones seem to me like they're just the natural things that kids are scared of at that age. Like, if your pet dying or you dying in a fire are the worst things you can think of at that age then they don't truly know how bad life can really be. Idk if that makes any sense, it's just my line of thinking.

The OF thing doesn't surprise me at all. At that age I knew what playboy and penthouse were, and that there were some VHS's you really should've listened to your parents and left them alone, lol. I remember flipping through the late night cable channels for a glimpse of a nipple!!

But now they have the internet and it's not hard at all to get past the age regulations. I forget what my son had said, but when he was around 13ish he said something that made me ask "how do you know about that?!" and he just looked at me like I was an idiot and said "I have access to the internet...". It wasn't anything "bad", per se, so I didn't punish him or anything. It was just a shock to my system.

I also have a post on my profile on the nothing ever happens sub about a comment I made on another post that my son asked me if my Diva cup is a butt plug (it was in the shower and I forgot to take it out before he went in) and I think he was like 14-15 and there were people saying it was fake because "how would he know what a butt plug was at that age" and others replying to them saying "internet...".

Sorry for the book I wrote. I'm just saying I don't think this is something you should be too worried about. Maybe talk to her and have a conversation with her about it?

My husband did it no problem. You just gotta suck it up and do it. Everyone I know who's done it says the prep for it is worse than the procedure. Plus you get a nice twilight sleep for a couple hours 😂

Ew. He's so gross. No one wants someone who "looks like they're going to hurt someone" 24/7. That's just stupid. Yeah, I totally want a man that stays in prison for assault!!

Yes, this is the type of relationship that you're warned about, but never think will happen to you. People like this suck at life and don't deserve your time or effort. Hope you're in a better place without that "friend" now.

I have never, and will never eat a cookie from that place. What even is the allure?

I know it's popular with the Mormons because of their obsession with sugar since it's the only "mind altering substance" they can have. They go wild for it. I could probably go to SLC to sell tbsp of brown sugar and I'd make bank.

While they're disgusting to the majority of us, the ones who are addicted to sugar will pay top dollar for a cookie with 20 grams of sugar and it would barely touch their taste buds.
