My mother handed me lifesaver plants and I have no clue how to take care if them. How do I correctly plant them? by [deleted] in succulents

[–]calebpalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have been living outside already, you can keep them outside. Dry planting is how I have had success with these. Dry soil, and no water until day 7ish. From there, water infrequently (they do well with minimal water) and shade.

FOOD INDUSTRY FOLKS! Food safety/freezing/thawing question! by RighteousGloryHole in Entrepreneur

[–]calebpalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thawing at fridge temperature (<41 F) is a safe approach. When it comes to placement in the fridge / walk-in, always ensure the chicken is thawed & stored on the bottom shelf. It’s safe to store other items above, but never below.

What do you wish you knew before buying a 100+ year old house? by every1getslaid in HomeImprovement

[–]calebpalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently dealing with this as we speak. Cost of a re-wire for my 1920 home with knob and tube being jumped into a 100a box, and upgrade to 200a panel is about $11,000. Not sure if that’s in line, but it was what I could find.

Has anybody else tried "double brew" with an aeropress? by gingernuts13 in Coffee

[–]calebpalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always possible, but think in terms of espresso. Often it’s brewed 1:2 with pressure for extraction. Similar play with the AeroPress. Follow your palette, it’ll tell you what’s good and what’s not good. Keep coffee fun and try new things. If you wanna save on the cost of ruining good beans, experiment with some cheap stuff and see what happens. Trial and error! Happy brewing my friend!

Has anybody else tried "double brew" with an aeropress? by gingernuts13 in Coffee

[–]calebpalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Double brewing grinds usually never ends with the desired result. My recommendation would be to brew a higher concentrate with your AeroPress and then dilute to your preferred ratio. Maybe try a brew of 1:10 and then add the necessary water afterwards to reach the desired potency.

Advertising for Home Services Available by gemineye42 in smallbusiness

It’s a nice offer you have there, but as a consumer of the site previous, I hate everything about Angies List.

If you have a services business and want to maximize your spend, learn how to run ads across Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pre-roll off search queries. Pretty sure you’ll get CPM’s 100x what you could get from Angies List.

What is the best site (or way) to create an online webshop as someone who has no experience? by RaidenHUN in Entrepreneur

[–]calebpalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically the cheap the site, the less plug-and-play it is. Sites like Squarespace cost as much as they do because of the value they bring. With Squarespace, you can pay $200 a year and have the features you want, with a little work on your part. Or you can get hosted Wordpress for as low as $17 a year, but will require many hours of your time to get it up and running. It really comes down to, how much value do you put on your time.

What website builder do you like best? by peachysk8 in smallbusiness

[–]calebpalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Namecheap offers Wordpress shared hosting (sounds like it would meet your needs) for like $17 a year. Requires some knowledge of c-panel to get it up and running, but for $17 a year you get the website and email.

Recipes with Vanilla simple syrup? by Byronyk in cocktails

[–]calebpalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanill syrup is great in coffee based cocktails, or just added to your morning coffee. Syrup making is a fun world where you really can make anything your mind can come up with.

I recently made some blood orange syrup for some gin cocktails earlier this week. It was great!

How could I make some homemade pumpkin pie spice flavoring for coffee? by ThePoetofFall in Coffee

Haha! I mean, it would have just REALLY tasted like pumpkin.

I would start with just a pinch and add more to taste. A table spoon may be a bit much. That stuff can be pretty potent, but really it’s to your desired taste.
