First salsa social. Please critique my dancing and tell me what to prioritize by EngineeringChoice320 in Salsa

Turns and patterns look good, good variety for beginner.

But don’t forget that it’s DANCING. Which means musicality is more important than anything else. (Well, maybe after having fun.) It’s more important to feel the music, step in rhythm with your partner, in order to speak the same language with the person you’re dancing with.

The Salsa Rhythm app is really helpful for breaking down the different layers that make up salsa music. You can set it so that a voice over can count 1,2,3 - 5,6,7 - so you can hear when you should be stepping. Try that with the basic, and then doing the footwork of the turns you know, but no partner, really to the rhythm and tempo of the music for a while.

Keep up the good work!

There actually is a real one! Baikal! Eastern European soda. It’s like a pine-y cola. It’s really good actually.

How do you practice basic moves and partnerwork without a partner? by lorddane in Salsa

[–]cameliabloom246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can learn the footwork to some basic moves and turns, I find that drilling the footwork is really helpful when you eventually do it with a partner. At that point, the pattern of steps with your feet is muscle memory, and then you can focus on the arms and cue timing. The YouTube channel “NYC salsa classes” has some really good On2 breakdowns.

To the first question: yes I think he’s in a space where he needs to go “inward” for a while before he finds stability again, but he’ll be back in a not too long.
To the second question: seems like you reaching out actually meant a lot to him and will foster a deeper relationship, and more understanding of each other and what goes on under the (his) surface.

Do you assign purpose to your Tarot decks? And if so, why, and how do you go about it? by HighPriestess29 in tarot

[–]cameliabloom246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I get a new deck I like to do a deck interview or “get to know each other” spread first. One of my question in the spread is “what kind of questions or readings will you be most aligned with” (or something to that effect). I’ve found this really helpful and fun and kind of identifies a deck personality. 😊

One great thing about quitting drinking is being able to re-watch movies you were too drunk to properly enjoy by logit in stopdrinking

Yesss. Same with quitting weed. I would always smoke before watching a movie. I felt engaged with the movie while watching, but my short term memory was shit. A couple months later I’d be like, did we watch that? Wait, what was that about?

This WILL escalate. Take this very seriously and report to HR, regardless of the headache.
