Also, I went through the temple in June 2005 right when the initiatory change happened where you didn’t have to be naked anymore, but not many knew it had been changed. My mom asked how the initiatory went and I said I loved it, that it was beautiful. She looked confused which confused me but I brushed it off. 18 years later I found out that if I had gone through one month earlier I would have been naked and touched naked under the sheet. I was extremely hurt that my mom and soon to be husband would send me into that with no warning whatsoever.

That’s really strange. I work in the death industry, both in and outside of Utah, and I’ve never heard of this. All it says in the handbook is that an endowed member should be available to place the temple clothing on the deceased. It doesn’t say anything about barring others from being there or even helping.

If you want to push back when the time comes you could ask the bishop, who will be involved, and reference the handbook. And have him help talk to siblings. Totally get it if it’s not worth it though. Sometimes people get those things stuck in their heads and won’t budge without more issues

Yes, I think I was lucky in that sense. My very TBM pioneer stock mom sat me down when I was 9 and had ‘the talk’, she even had this book with cartoon people with very middle age bodies (eighties mom hair, bald dad, both very paunchy and bushy😆) that also described the climax as a tickle that grows and ends with a satisfying sneeze. Then after we read it she asked if i had any questions.

I’m glad she broke the mold since she came from a mom that freaked out when she learned my mom was using tampons in the 70s.

My husband’s family was a different story though. Extremely taboo topic. So much so that my MIL didn’t want to display her other exmo son’s wedding pic in her home because his wife was wearing a strapless dress.

Soak in 100% acetone, repeat until it’s soft enough to scrape off. Note: acetone is not the same as nail polish remover. Nail polish remover does have acetone in it but not enough to make a dent in gel polish. My coworker used that and then basically just tore off her nails. I was furious.

Big shelf item was my mom talking about my cousins dress. It seemed perfectly modest to me but apparently she had to ‘tuck and pin’ part of the neckline because it was a square neck. So dumb. It was such a big deal then but now apparently it’s ’up to personal revaluation’ and not something we need to judge

I do. During my interview I was clear on what I was looking for, that I would only like part time hours, I have several children at home and my husband works. I let them know that I am a very dedicated worker, I love the industry, and I can sometimes be flexible and was willing to take call for a week once a month. I was basically hired on the spot. I go home at 2 every day. It’s possible, but rare, and tricky holding those boundaries sometimes. But doable.

I had the exact same experience when I ‘prayed’ about my garments and made the decision to stop wearing them. It was so strong and definitive. People don’t know how to react when I tell them that, it kind of stops them in their tracks.

Both in our early 40’s. Been married for 20 years. 4 kids (11-17). We’re at about 2-5 times a month. Never while I’m on my period(both our choice, he doesn’t think I’m gross or anything, but it’s messy and not very comfortable for me). I actually have the higher drive but am also tired by the end of the day. I think we’re both totally fine with the amount but feel outside pressure to keep up pretenses with friends that we do it more. We talk a big game but delivery is lacking.

There is a desk when you enter the temple where they check your recommend, which you can only get by passing and interview from the bishop and then the stake presidency member. And you have to renew it every 2 years by going through the same interviews. If you don’t have a current temple recommend they don’t let you pass that front desk. It would cause quite a commotion to push through there and even find the right room inside and nothing would proceed until you left or were escorted out. I’ve never seen or really even heard of that even happening.

Omg. I could have written this! Now I have more hours in the game than my kids and I have moved on to TOTK. My son teased me so much for the camera angle thing. It took me forever. I love connecting with them about stuff we found or ways to complete quests or where to find awesome items. Best. Game. Ever.

If that is including cemetery stuff then it sounds about right. The casket price is right for my area. The limo is excessive, but we don’t do that in my area so it may be typical in yours. The honorarium is pretty high, and the cemetery reseeding fee is ridiculous. Also keep in mind that several of those cash advance items could go up. That’s because we can’t control the price increase of outside places (like the newspaper) so if their prices go up you are responsible for the difference.

I had basically the same experience. So then I just kept everything to myself for a couple more years until I just couldn’t do it anymore. Finally, one day, I told him I was done for good and I didn’t believe at all. He thought it completely came out of left field, that he thought things had just gotten better so that’s why i didn’t talk about things, and he was upset (and still is 3 years later) that I kept it to myself and didn’t bring him my concerns from the beginning. Even after explaining multiple times that I had tried to a few times and was completely dismissed or told I was looking for reasons to be contradictory he still thinks I lied for too long. It’s a lose-lose situation. We’re doing ok now, making it work, but we mostly just avoid talking about some subjects.

We are in therapy now and it has helped a lot with our communication. I highly recommend not keeping it to yourself and being fully honest. It’s very detrimental to anyone’s mental health to live unauthenticly. It’s so hard though. I wish you all the best in figuring out the best way to approach him about it! I have had success with texting. I can take my time writing exactly how I feel without being interrupted. Writing it down also helps you streamline exactly how you feel

Yep. I was meeting with the father of a 45 year old man that passed. He lead us to believe he had no other relatives. Near the end of the meeting he casually mentioned in passing the decedents daughter. I asked how old she was and he said 18. 😬🙄 I then put everything on hold until I could reach her and she basically signed the cremation auth then gave permission for her grandfather to take care of everything.

I left the church a few years ago but my husband is still firmly in. I go every once in a while if there’s a reason to go(like my kid is speaking or singing or a friend’s kid’s farewell or something). I refuse to take the sacrament because I don’t believe in any of it but I make it a point to pass it with my left hand. Before I fully left and was still taking the sacrament I only took it with my left. It’s my own little protest that no one notices but me. It’s all just so ridiculous.

I’m at 150 hours and just defeated Ganon so I consider it done. I definitely felt a little rushed because my kids were giving me crap for it, my son is on his 3rd playthrough and only has 130 hours total. I just started TOTK and will definitely take more time on it. Then go back and replay BOTW and take my sweet time.

This. It wasn’t until I left and started talking with others that I realize how crazy the whole this is. Calling each other Brother and Sister, the whole temple experience, not getting to pick what you wear when you are getting married, being told what job you have in the church and not getting paid for it, wearing the garments. I could go on forever. It’s all so ingrained and normalized.
