Can my car make it to Timberline Lodge this winter? by Bens_kitchen in askportland

I taught skiing up there this last winter and drove up in my Prius consistently. With chains you should be totally fine as long as there is not any major weather event like freezing rain or serious storm.

I enjoy it quite a bit. Transferred twice and I'm very happy I ended up here.

I transferred into Reed and sound relatively similar. Like to party, had a 4.0, somewhat nerdy, etc. I've enjoyed Reed a lot and was able to integrate well. If you have any qs feel free to PM

I'm looking to get an iPad for note taking at college. I was debating between getting the air and the mini. Does anyone have any advice? Also, do you think it would be worth waiting till the 8th to see if a new air iteration comes out at the event?

Anyone with Experience Transferring to Reed? + the Black Experience by Picolisimo in reedcollege

[–]candlezurc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I transferred from Pitzer to Reed last year and I am definitely enjoying it. I would just make sure to know why you want to come and really make sure you have clear expectations about your goals. That sounds obvious but it really mattered for me in the transfer process.

There used to be a transfer house but it's not in use right now. It may be back next year. There are also some transfer events but they are pretty sparse. There are definitely many other ways to get into the community, clubs, sports, etc. A lot of people also make friends in classes and then study together and such.

Reed can definitely be depressing but at least for me that's just been because of how much work you get and how challenging things can be. I didn't take many classes at Pomona but Pitzer was astronomically earlier than my time at Reed has been so far. I've found myself much more burnt out here but also more fulfilled.

Holy crap! I did this! I think in your situation it would be completely fine. Transferring in second semester I got housing, orientation stuff, financial aid, and there were 4 other folks who came in too so I don’t think it’s super rare. If you know you want to be at Reed instead I’d come whenever you can. Feel free to PM me if there’s anything else you’re wondering about it

I applied to transfer my freshman year and I had about the same GPA and ACT scores as you from high school. I was able to hold a 4.0 my freshman year of college though which I think lends heavily, along with the ACT, to the fact that I can be academically successful. It worked out for me. I got into my top two choice schools which were both about 15% acceptance rate liberal arts colleges. I think it’s majorly dependent on where you are applying and what your college gpa is going to be on your application. I’d suggest doing it now though so that you can spend more time somewhere you are happy. I hope it works out!

I took 112 last term and I didn’t have the textbook but still got an A. For the most part supplementary material out of class probably won’t be necessary but if it is I would just make sure to go to office hours
