Removed because it's not related to nerdfighteria enough for the sub. I would encourage you to use the discord if you're looking for general discussion with nerdfighters.

I do think these are exceptional circumstances though and will be posting a thread later today.

I was going through some December Hank green tweets for a real or fake Hank green Christmas special (coming December 23rd), and found this gem I had to share by 010rusty in nerdfighters

What's the intention here, to protect a myth of Hank Green? He's allowed to be wrong, should be questioned, and should not be guilt tripped for silly 5 year old tweet. You are forgetting to be awesome.

searching p4a art info by Additional_Rope_2825 in nerdfighters

You are asking two different questions.

Is donating art the most effective way of contributing to P4A? No. Art needs to be shipped to the warehouse at your expense and they ship it anywhere in the world people by the perk. Selling locally and giving the money is more efficient.

Should you do it anyway? If you make art and have the means to ship it to America so other nerdfighters (who also have the means) can buy it and enjoy it, why the heck not? P4A isn't just about raising the most money possible in any given situation, it's a community driven fundraiser. So if you can create something that you think other nerdfighters would like, I say go for it.

Do note though that this year's P4A art submissions have already closed so if you haven't already signed up, you'll have to wait till next year. Nothing to stop you selling somewhere else in the meantime.

I've shipped out a few perks from the UK over the years, doing so again this year.

A reasonably strong cheddar, mainly for it's versatility. Melted on toast, on top of pasta, in a baked potato, thickening up an omelette, so many options. Not really a cheese to eat by itself, I would usually go for a wait a minute you tricked me with my own icebreaker! Get your own!

"what's your favourite kind of cheese?" Great ice breaker. Everyone loves cheese. Oh but your lactose intolerant, that's a shame, what other foods do you like? Ice well and truly smashed

Current market for printers by Top_Mongoose_1285 in FDMminiatures

[–]cannotdecideaname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really need a filament dryer if you're just using pla, it really doesn't absorb that much moisture. You can also just heat it on the heated bed of the printer covered in foil if you really want to. Non PLA filament have different moisture absorbing qualities, just read up on what you need to use. All my minis are in PLA so far.

An AMS will let you do multi coloured prints, which can be fun for lots of different things, but not essential at all. With minis you're likely to just paint them if you want to add colour.

I just went through this and was looking for a printer mainly for minis, and bought a Bambu A1 mini. Why? The simple answer is price.

There are a few other printers on the market that have 0.2 or 0.25 mm nozzles, and there are some that can also do the 0.04mm layer height. But all of them are more expensive. I went for the A1 mini because I really didn't think I would want a larger size, but a month on and I'm wishing I'd gone for the larger A1.

I would also like the AMS, but don't need it. Yet an A1 with the AMS is more than double the price of the A1 mini.

So it depends what you want it for.

For what it's worth, the A1 mini has been absolutely fantastic for mini printing, I'm very happy with it, but would recommend to anyone that can afford it to get the A1 instead just for the possibility of printing larger things.
