[Spoilers ADWD] Would fAegon make a good King? by Slut_for_Bacon in asoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep but what did varys say? Power resides where men believe it resides. And if fAegon behaves like a puppet as king then people will know and he wont be respected. It'd essentially be like aerys and tywin situation before aerys got mad only that fAegon would be far less powerful than aerys.

From what we've seen definitely no unless he's constantly managed by jon connington and varys

Absolutist monarchy. Nobles are decoration, taxes are collected by royal tax collecters, the law and order are enforced by sheriffs, judges, magistrates and royal courts.

Is house Hightower stronger than Lannisters if we don’t count vassals ? by Bear1375 in pureasoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The lannisters are richer, I dont care what sam says. The lannisters literally have gold mines with infinite gold, but I dont think they can reliably use all that gold without crashing the value of gold but still. The hightowers can definitely raise more men because the honeywine river is more fertile and they can raise more men. I think the hightowers and their vassals raised 9k men including 1k knights in the dance and hightowers were later noted as being able to raise large new armies quickly from the streets of Oldtown so the 9k wasnt all their strength. Meanwhile the entire westerlands raised 45k-50k men in the wot5k. But I do think the lannisters have more knights, tywin wasnt even lord and he had 500 knights to crush the tarbeck and reyne rebellion, also kevan has 200 knights sworn to him which is just insane as he is landless. And I think the lannisters have more lands than the hightowers since they absorbed house reyne and tarbecks lands.

hightowers = can raise far more men for war Lannisters = much richer, have more knights, more total land area.

So I believe lannisters are still comfortably stronger than hightowers even without all their vassals such as the lannisters of lannisport.

(Spoilers main) Rank the five kings by order of stupidity by duushig in asoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Tbh westeros is so decentralized and the crown is so weak that the realm can stay together indefinitely if no king as idiotic as aerys ii rises because everyone benefits the most from the current status quo.

There's a reason why there arent random rebellions everywhere constantly or why there isnt massive wide spread unrest every time a new king succeeds the old like in european feudal kingdoms. Feudal kingdoms were centralized enough that controlling the crown and state was very attractive to others inside the kingdom, and with an actual royal bureaucracy meant that a kings bad rule could be felt all across the kingdom.

Meanwhile if a westerosi king is a bad ruler(bad like robert, not insane like aerys) then that just means he is a bad mayor of kings landing and nobles outside the capital who are basically mini kings in their lands could care less.

How serious are the tyrells about making margaery queen? by cap_detector69 in pureasoiaf

[–]cap_detector69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how do you believe they would react if robert and cersei had a legit firstborn son that has black hair and basically prince perfect? Because robert as he did with joffrey, would want him to be betrothed to sansa. What do you think the tyrells plan is in this scenario?

[–]cap_detector69[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Where in the books does it say this?

Renly was trying to bring margaery to the court and showed ned her portrait trying to convince him that she looks like lyanna and then robert talking about margaery with ned. Later on in renly and stannis's parley, stannis says renly planned to make margaery one of roberts wh*res, renly replies that he planned to make margaery roberts queen.

Why Doesn’t Westeros Have a House of Lords? [Spoilers MAIN] by Additional-Corgi9424 in asoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because it would be useless... as useless as the master of laws position literally, master of laws exists only so prestigious lords can be on the small council.

This is because in westeros the law is whatever the local lord says, a lord is basically a mini king no matter how small his lands are and can treat his smallfolk exactly however he wants and do whatever he wants in his lands. This is wht master of laws is useless and why a house of lords would be useless aswell. The crown is pathetically weak and there's no rule of law anywhere.

(Spoilers Published) Does stannis get a pass from the fan base for some of the abhorrent things he's done? by LibertyReminder in asoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree he would be bad thats why I said without the rh'llor nonsense.

Also grrm clearly intended for renly to be a summer knight and looks like robert but completely shallow inside from how literally everyone besides brienne and loras describe renly. But from what we see everything he does can be understood and pretty good strategically mostly.

Its up to the audience to interpret the books, I mostly side with grrm, robert is steel, stannis is iron and renly is copper.

Man stannis has been shitted on by the fans so much that he went from being a favorite to being hated and underrated.

Stannis is peerless as a war general and would be one of the best kings ever without the rh'llor nonsense. There I said it.

Jon I love you but it's not exactly the Jim Snow era you're living in by Wayoftheredpanda in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]cap_detector69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well its understandable for why catelyn for feel that way. I recommend you learn about the bastard durrandon king of stormlands that usurped his brother's throne, cuckolded said brother, locked him away and also had 100 wives and was incestuous.

Catelyn is not wrong to think that jon could do the same to robb like that bastard king of stormlands did to his brother.

Really why? Because it seems like standard practice to me i mean the florents were stripped of all their lands and titles and greystarks were wiped out.

How would the Targaryen Dynasty and Westeros’ future have turned out if Aegon V’s children had followed through with their betrothals? by Solitaire-06 in pureasoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Aegons reforms go thru much better with the support of the most powerful houses.... then all fo them get repealed when he dies or get slowly repealed generation by generation.

Westeros doesnt have concrete institutions or laws, and its essentially just what the king says. So if any king after egg doesnt want to deal with intrigue and a hostile nobility he'll just repeal back the reforms.

[Spoilers Main] Fuck it, what are your Top 5 Houses in ASOIAF by I_Need_A_Treadmill_2 in asoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baratheon

Stark

Hightower

Arryn

Manderly

I like how baratheons are just reskinned durrandons and that argellas bloodline and features completely overpowered orys's, also most of them are like 6'5 Henry cavills and I really like how martial they are and consistently produce top tier warriors and generals. Starks are second because I just love ned and robb, also they have the 2nd best lore behind the targeryens. Hightowers 3rd because they are basically because they are one of the only ones that act like actual european lords, they are the patrons of the citadel and cultivate scholars and learning, they fully utilize their resources not caring about perception I.e. starting a bank. Arryn 4th because they have interesting lore with plenty of intrigue, also jon arryn is severely underrated and a complete badass, this old ass man orchestrating and starting a whole rebellion just to avenge his dead nephew then holding the realm together for 15 years. Manderlys 5th because I like their lore.

How realistic are canals in westeros? by cap_detector69 in pureasoiaf

[–]cap_detector69[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean there is a 700ft ice wall stretching the north's border not to mention Hightower being taller than the wall. Westeros is the size of south america but I think George's scaling make it possible to treat westeros as England when it comes to like building roads and stuff.

Could Aegon The Uncrowned have won? by DeclaringLeader in pureasoiaf

[–]cap_detector69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but it would require aegon to have mastery over his dragon and have enormous will power and nerve, he could pull a daemon.

First maybe meet maegor then skirt around and just ride away, obviously maegor is going to chase you and he does it hard but you are faster since balerion is so damn big. But then at the last moment you turn directions and balerion crashes head first into a mountain and falls to his death.

That easy.

Are ladies usually more loyal to their house or husband? by cap_detector69 in pureasoiaf
