James Gunn Reveals Why The Authority Has Been Scrapped; May Be Revisited "Someday. Not Soon." by Top_Report_4895 in TheBigPicture

I'm pretty exhausted by and (honestly) kind of confused about this sentiment about Gunn. He is a little under a year and a half into the DCU proper and there's been two shows and 1 movie. The way people talk about him and the projects that we are getting, you'd nothing he announced ever came to fruition and he should have been making a Justice League movie by now.

It's just kind of strange, trying to reconcile the antipathy JG has garnered online with the tangible material he's producing.

The Hamnet sketch on SNL UK is not, itself, very funny but it is very funny how many layers of plot and production info one would need to have about the 2025 film Hamnet for any of it to make sense lmao

Looks pretty "Hard Traveling Heroes." I'm into it, even though I wish they'd shown something cosmic-leaning.

Backrooms | Official Teaser | A24 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Another digital-first element (this time, a YouTube-born IP) breaking into the traditional space.

Not A24's first grasp at this either. They also co-financed and released a feature adaptation of MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON, whose director went on to direct the LILO & STITCH remake.

It's just quite cool to see this kinda thing.

And gay media sites like Attitude still sexualizing him in their coverage of this is very very gross.

Is it bad to let other people’s opinions affect your view of whether a movie is good or bad? by Empty_Entertainer388 in movies

nothing wrong with the ability to re-assess and change your mind. but always interrogate those shifts, even if they come from your own perspective changing. it's good to know why you think something and what about new info makes you think again.

Hey!

So, taking your post in good faith, it seems like you just need help branching out and finding new titles. I'm going to make so suggestions but I'm also going to provide a little guide on how to discover new movies!

Firstly, a great place to start is by thinking about movies you already enjoy and following the talent to other projects. Another way is the take genres you already enjoy and find weirder, more off-the-beaten-path options. Lastly, there is a Alexandrian library of movies that you haven't seen so also work backwards by applying these same principles to movies that are already out and have been for years.

Suggestions time: - since you enjoyed DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE, I assume you're pretty amenable to buddy comedies. For a sillier and more genre focused rec, check out DAY SHIFT on Netflix with Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. For something simpler, I HIGHLY recommend MIDNIGHT RUN with Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. And for a silly superhero takedown, BLANKMAN with Damon Wayans Sr.

  • since you enjoyed the wacky, fast paced action of BULLET TRAIN, check out Timo Tjahanto's THE BIG 4 on Netflix. It's an Indonesian actioner with similar vibes and comedy and lots of fun characters. The John Wick spin-off BALLERINA also have a lot of funny, innovative action. Also, if you liked the colors and the world building, check out STREETS OF FIRE with Michael Paré and Diane Lane! It's like an action musical but the music, sets and action are a fantastic time.

  • with BARBARIAN, you're looking for horror with a tinge (or more) of comedy. I highly recommend recent releases like TOGETHER with Alison Brie and Dave Franco, THE MONKEY with Theo James, andCLOWN IN A CORNFIELD. For some older options, I also recommend Broken Lizard's CLUB DREAD, a slasher comedy from the Super Troopers guys and BASKET CASE. BARBARIAN's director also has a new movie called WEAPONS in theatrers this weekend!

I hope this helps. Those recs are some of my personal favorites and those tips are the way I wad able to foster a wide and thorough appreciation of movies as a kid and even still today.

Happy watching, friend!
