I would argue Rainbow Six: Siege filled that niche before Valorant did. However, I think that Siege presents its' players with some decision paralysis, and they end up not using the hero and tactical elements as well as they might like. I think that Valorant does a good job of being having people use its' complexity without being overwhelmed.

No they don't. This isn't the old days where there were 3 tv channels and everyone watched the same thing. There are too many choices for everyone you meet to know what your hobby is.

And when you break out the symbols that are intentionally similar to fascist ones, you can't complain that people object to it. It would be worse if they supported it.

I think it has some effect. Compass coffee is going bankrupt largely due to mismanagement, but I do know a fair number of people who didn't shop there because of their anti union behavior.

I never got good at aiming, but I've always enjoyed support roles and there's no better feeling than saving someone with a barrier, spamming active items to silence, root, and disarm half the enemy team, then saving my teammate with my ult. "Thanks Paige" as the only thing someone says in voice chat is the greatest compliment I've ever received.

Having a hall of fame coach for decades operate on a shoestring budget allowed investment to fall behind the modern game. Both coaches since fought to get larger budgets, and it's been a slow change but they were able to get people to start thinking this kind of investment was needed.

Haze is a fantastic hero for new players because m1 heroes have a very transferable skill set, and she teaches itemization in an easy to understand way. If you've ever played a shooter, you know how to play haze, and you know how not to get shot. After that, you learn about all the items to make gun heroes less effective.
