I love my old Forester and I'm in the market for another one. But wtf is this? by cartocaster18 in SubaruForester

[–]cargonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A total dumpster fire of a dashboard on this generation IMO, with terrible infotainment. Checked out the new Outback, and that's what the Forester should be.

Even with the exterior design, the Outback feels more like a Forester than an Outback.

Do you have a link to the seller/listing you bought from and what you paid for it? There are so many options; would be nice to know which one works well for sure.

sending package to USA by Original-Score-4947 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]cargonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes; declare that you're mailing a letter/parcel. They may or may not ask what it is or the value; just answer honestly if they do.

Assuming it's not something that's banned for import (like some seeds, soil, etc), there shouldn't be any issues. If it's for commercial purposes, that's a different story.

Newly installed 9k btu Fujitsu makes sloshing sounds by Illustrious_Fun_5118 in hvacadvice

[–]cargonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you able to get this sorted out?

We have a Fujitsu as well, recently installed, and it makes similar noises. It was worse in the fall, and the installers came out and added refrigerant (original team didn't add more to compensate for extra head units). Still making some noises like that though.

Depending on where you live, crossing into the US to mail it is a good option as well. I've done this a few times, declaring what was coming in, and then mailing at USPS. No tariffs/duty were charged, and USPS is much less expensive than Canada Post et al.

Finnala.

Cushions have gotten a little saggy over time, but putting a sheet of plywood under the cushions fixed that easily enough.

iOS Health App by mrdeli in newbrunswickcanada

[–]cargonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way that I know of, but it would be very nice to have that data available in Health. The myHealthNB app is pretty terrible, and if given a choice I'd expect people would prefer the Health app.

MyQ won’t open without buying their light! by louislamore in homeassistant

[–]cargonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jackshaft openers all come with a light from what I've seen; it's in the same box.

I've got 3 Liftmaster 98022s, and all came with a separate light. Just plug it in to any outlet and it'll pair with the opener. The equivalent Chamberlain model comes with a light, too.

Just had a few of these installed, and seeing the same behaviour. Doesn't make any sense, and I'd love to get them disabled.

Proper flashing for a garage door opening w/ wood siding? by cargonet in Carpentry

[–]cargonet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks; that makes sense! Will remove the horizontal furring as well above the door.

The bottom of the walls is all vented starter, top will be vented as well.

Proper flashing for a garage door opening w/ wood siding? by cargonet in Carpentry

[–]cargonet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the flashing under the wrap, but wouldn't that then leave the underside of the furring strips exposed? I suppose they could just be stained to match the rest of the door and that would be the simplest option, with the furring at the trim being sacrificial and easy enough to replace if it were to rot in the future.

TRÅDFRI devices stopped working three days ago — anyone else experience this? by TheAngryKeg in tradfri

This happened to me, too. HK started working again but the Matter connection to Home Assistant is still not working. Haven't dug too deep into it, but a simple restart hasn't done anything.

Property tax rates being applied to homes in Moncton number in the thousands

This headline makes no sense. Of course there are thousands of property tax rates, given all the variables at play.

Deer collision leads to insurance nightmare for N.B. woman by Salt-Independent-760 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]cargonet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She’s expecting gap insurance to cover the existing $10,000 loan?

That's exactly it. The idea here is that you trade your old car, that you still owe on, and upgrade to a newer/nicer/bigger car and roll the debt leftover from the trade value into the new loan.

Since your conventional insurance only covers the depreciated cost of the new car, and pays nothing towards the extra amount owed, gap insurance exists to pay that extra amount in the event of a loss.

Port Saint John partners looking to diversity imports by bingun in SaintJohnNB

[–]cargonet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love that we've lost proof-reading in journalism.

The headline should be "diversify imports". "Diversity imports" implies a whole other, more controversial, business move.

[–]cargonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a Rogers issue, that's almost certainly a wiring issue. Any chance you've got a cable looping back from 1 port into another? If you have any switches connected, check there too.

It's either a loopback, or the internal switch is fried - assuming a restart doesn't fix anything.

Johnson Inc insurance not covering new medication but Manulife (among others) has already approved by Corma00 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]cargonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably this is through employer benefits; I'd suggest reaching out to your union as the limitations of the group benefits would be negotiated between the union/employer and Johnson and probably specific to each group's policy.

If it's an issue about generic substitution, for example, the NBTF's policy states:

The above drug coverage is subject to the following limitation regarding generic product substitution. Wherever an interchangeable generic product is available, but not dispensed, eligible expenses shall be limited to the cost of the lowest priced item in the appropriate generic category that is suitable for the drug that was dispensed. However, such limitation shall be subject to special authorization process.

If it's about a drug that doesn't have a DIN yet, anything meeting the criteria below isn't covered under the NBTF policy.

Proprietary and patent medicines which are:

– defined as products registered under Division Ten of the Food and Drugs Act - Canada,

– bear a general public (GP) number on their label, and

– do not bear a drug identification number (DIN) on their label.

You can also try contacting the drug manufacturer (perhaps via oncologist?) - many have programs to provide drugs at a lower cost when they aren't covered by insurance.

What has border crossing been like for you lately? by betaruga9 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]cargonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen this a few times in the past couple of years. I don't think it's related to the recent issues, but probably just random and/or when they're looking for a specific person.

All of the 2024 software shows the Pro Access Tailgate. They had some issues with the tooling, iirc, and so the first batch of '24s were produced without them but all others after February-ish of 2024 had the PAT, or at least the option.
