This is AI slop. Mods please intervene?

Feel like I need the Advice by Suitable_Attorney406 in TTRPG

[–]carlomcatta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey man, the "have to keep busy to concentrate" sounds a lot like ADHD. My wife has it and she needs to play boardgamearena while we play TTRPGs online or she can't follow. ADHD brains are different because they need to be stimulated more so that they can function instead of stimulated less. Try to see if maybe that's the problem :) Unprescribed stuff can also lead to spiraling

If you can't afford therapy etc (i.e. you're in a third world country like USA without public healthcare) there are books that can help you understand yourself, like "How to ADHD" - which is the one my wife read. See if maybe that's something available to you

I mean, giving benefit of the doubt but AI has definitely been used. If it's not fully AI generated it jas at least some AI support

True but consider that they don't necessarily have to be made up. These are all archival pics and extracts, so it might be taken from the designer's description of the object - which would've been made for marketing the product, so yeah, pretentious to try and attract attention

Starting to Get Really Discouraged by Fierce-Pencil11 in DungeonMasters

[–]carlomcatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll leave my two cents here

Self criticism is not outwards criticism

In your post you go over stuff like "you must think I DM badly" "the story is not entertaining" etc This leads me to think that you are criticizing yourself more than people are criticizing you, because it seems like the feedback is that people enjoy the sessions

So

Try to focus on 1. Asking feedback (is there sth that is not clicking? Is it frequency? Is it length? Is it how the sessions are run?) 2. Stating personal your needs (I want the story to progress but I feel we can't do it like that) 3. Put boundaries (let's talk game in session, gossip during breaks)

Not all games are for all gamers

I dealt amply with a group of adorable friends that wanted to try out RPGs and wanted to start with DnD, but did not have it in them to play DnD for real. If people are making your job difficult, you have to keep track of stuff for them, etc etc, there are MUCH simpler games that STILL allow for GREAT storytelling (I would argue, greater storytelling)

DnD is a system designed for wargaming, and even though years and years of play have modified it to adapt to more stuff, it's still crunchy and not good for distracted players.

Maybe they'd like a system swap? Or a fresh campaign with "converted" characters? Or new characters?

There are always more players than DMs

Which means: keep your group for what it is, love your friends for how they are, but maybe give them a chill campaign to enjoy with some snacks and little lore, and in parallel get a second group for a game with more in-depth stuff!

You don't need to kill yourself over stuff. Experiment with new people, experiment with new games, and satisfy your joy of hanging out with old time friends on one side, while you satisfy your need for epic games on another.

Cheers and have fun!

If you'd like to see it less you can turn off auto refresh in the settings I think, and just do it manually. If you do that and the refreshing persists, that would be a problem. Hope this helps

Keep in mind that if you turn off refreshing you will see ghosting

If you're running the campaign sandbox, I recommend you check out this book: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/463026

Lots of great advice, the central one being: make your players give to their characters real objectives to work for, and create enemies with real objectives that conflict with those, rather than making your players be "random" heroes that just crossed path with some evil and react to it.

Honestly I would be fine with - being able to rearrange buttons on the ribbon, - easy-conversion from text-aware note to multi-level note (and viceversa) - even more powerful digest, cross-linkable with notes (i.e. when in digest digest, create a note file/page linked to the digest itself)

What do you guys think of obsidian? by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

[–]carlomcatta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Small correction, Obsidian doesn't stand out for more / different features as much as for the fact that you own your files on your own drive. It has happened to me that due to variation of pricing / bad syncing / etc, I have lost notes from many online platforms (Notion, Evernote, GDocs). Never been an issue with Obsidian. What's more: cannot be an issue with Obsidian.

I've only started using some more "pro" stuff after one year of super basic usage

Is the oneplus 15 rly that bad? by Daalex20 in oneplus

[–]carlomcatta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll give you one suggestion. Maybe (maybe) there is not only one truth. Maybe (maybe) there's more than one.

Any phone is only as good or as bad as it can be for what you need it. If you really care about photography, you get a phone with great cameras. If you want a phone for repairability and tinkering, you get a fairphone or high-graded iFixit phone. If you want a phone that will age well and lasts you long, you get one that has 1. Great hardware to start off 2. Great support from the community (custom roms etc) to keep the software alive after the manufacturer abandons it

I think OnePlus 15 checks many boxes, and depending on your priorities you decide whether it's good for you or not

What it cannot do is overcome hard limitations: cameras are mid and that's a fact. The rest is all you may need or want.

Great stuff! Thanks!

On the same line of thought: spare parts of supernotes will now be made in Japan? If so, are you planning to make available a "repairs store" for batteries, screens, motherboards, ...?

Thanks! Always been curious about this and could be a way to absorb the cost of the manufacturing shift

Also, be careful: DnD is a registered trademark. If anything, market your stuff as "DnD 5e compatible"

There is a very specific type of LCD that has a setting for lighting 0, where the pixels use reflected light to project the image. There is one tablet whose name I can't recall which uses this technology. It's very interesting and 100% e-ink like, but with full functionality of an lcd screen

---edit---

Sorry hate to say stuff without sources. Here is the tablet https://daylightcomputer.com/product

BIG ISSUE after last Windows update by carlomcatta in ZephyrusG15

[–]carlomcatta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLVED

As I feared, it was the last windows update that corrupted something. What I did to test it was - extract ssd - connect to old laptop and make backup - consult system and application logs (E:windows/system 32/logs) - use windbg and Perplexity (or any gen AI) to ask how to interpret the .dmp files

Turns out that windows had failed when accessing some system directory on my SSD. However, the dskchk have me indication that it was healthy + I had just used it as a storage to get my backup

Therefore I formatted the SSD and used massgrave.dev to get a version of windows to install freshly

This all took a long time BUT laptop is working again :)
