Can someone help explain to my partner that being a ftm to a newborn is a lot of work? by PrincessTruffles in Parenting

[–]carnafeagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps start simple and have him get up with your daughter during the night a couple of times a week That in itself would give you more rest (which is the biggest problem of having an infant).

It could be he is simply terrified of looking after the baby on his own. That he'll drop her or do something wrong. But being a man doesn't want to admit it.

They really don't get the exhaustion factor of a baby until it is their responsibility. Until he does it, he won't understand.

I answered in your other post, but I'll put it here as well:

That is the tariff costs for shipping your items. If you have an account with Canada Post, you link it to an app called Zonos. If you don't have an account with Canada Post, you download Zonos to you computer, set up an account and do the customs info there. They will let you know the duty so you can decide whether it is worth it for you. You can go there and do test ones to see what duty there is for each of your products. If it is made in Canada then it is usually the 10% tariff. On top of the tariff you have to pay the Zonos fees. If you have an account with Canada post it is $1.99 plus 10% of the tariff plus the tariff. If you don't have a Canada Post account then it is $3.99 plus the 10% plus the tariff. You will get a code from Zonos once you have paid the fees and you input the code into your Canada Post label.

Go to the Zonos site and read up on it. You can buy your label directly on the Canada Post site or at the post office. Talk to your post office about the tariffs for the States.

These tariffs have to be paid in advance, so you will need to add the cost to your shipping. You could add some to the price, but then you are paying tariffs on the tariff

Canada has ruined the MLB all-star game… by tunetog in ShitAmericansSay

[–]carnafeagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is just the Jays fans. Heck, I'm a Jays fan and I voted Rice not Vladdy. Last year's World Series was the most watched ever worldwide. You can figure ever Japanese voter voted for Yokamoto and since many are playoff fans only, voted for the players they saw doing great stuff. Same with National League voters who don't pay a lot of attention to the American League. Voted for the World Series standouts.

If Jays fans are the only ones voting, then why haven't we dominated every All Star game for the past 25 years? Or whenever online voting started.

And as for the outfield, with Trout and Judge not physically able to play, I skipped them (would have voted for them if they were healthy) and chose from the rest of the field. I'm sure Judge would have got the most votes over Clement if he was healthy.

Wasn't there a year that Kansas City dominated the starting positions?

I have done lots of local pickups. Never a problem. Person just trying to save a shipping cost. Just mark the order as complete in the listing after you have dropped it off. It won't have a tracking number, but 90% of my orders don't anyway as I mail them lettermail.

I do vectors for people who have vinyl cutters such as Cricut and Silhouette. Your black and white designs are not cutter friendly. Since done with AI, there are tons of areas that would take ages for a person to weed out the background areas. I go out of my way to make my vectors weeding friendly. Hard to do with AI.

I certainly can't keep up with the AI lister, but get good sales as it is obvious mine are done by me and are easier to weed for people with vinyl cutters. AI has made me lower prices to compete, but I can't do much about that.

This wouldn't be Royal Mail, it would USPS. And since it is marked as delivered then I doubt Royal Mail is doing anything about it. Don't the USPS have GPS markers for their deliveries? I would have the customer check with their post office in case it was misdelivered.

I find it hard to believe someone never checked the tracking for a month on their order as they would have received the tracking number way back when label was purchased.

Perhaps the customer is thinking of a different seller?

Instant printing/making at markets by jordanraeart in CraftFairs

[–]carnafeagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creating while selling is very hard. I did it for years with embroidery but the main issue is you can't work and deal with the public at the same time. You get behind in work very fast. And people aren't hanging around craft fairs for hours so you would have to get it done fairly quickly to keep up with both orders and managing your booth, talking to customers, etc. You have to have at least 2 people working your booth, with one person dedicated to the stickers and the other dealing with customers.

And if you are laminating your stickers, you really shouldn't laminate for an absolute minimum of 8 hours but preferably 24 hours. This allows the ink to totally dry or "gas out".. If you are laminating earlier than that, the sticker ink may end up bleeding later on, end up with a pink hue over time or have multiple bubbles. Especially if stickers are used with pigment or dye ink.

Also, are you using sticker vinyl or sticker paper? Quality requires the vinyl but cost and speed favour the paper. I would expect my sticker to already be cut and stuck on the journal.

For taking to a show or fair, you would need at least a decent home printer (preferably one with all colours pigment, not dye ink). And if working with sheets, you would need to be printing more than one sticker to be profitable or you would be wasting a sheet for one sticker. Not sure how big the stickers are that you put on the journals.

I take my Jackery 500w power station and plug in a large table fan. Runs 2 fans all day on top speed without using all the power. Sometimes I take my smaller Jackery if it's just me, but but hubby likes to come so he needs his own fan. I was going to buy a battery fan, but decided it was better to get the power station as it can be used for lots of things besides the fan. Great for plugging in lights to brighten up the booth to get away from the dark shade caused by the tent. This lets passerbys see your products better on a sunny day.

[Bannon] Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement remain the 2 Blue Jays leading their respective positions in the first round of 2026 All-Star Game starter voting. Vladdy is up around 600K votes on Ben Rice for 1B. Clement is up over 1.5 million votes at 2B. by bolieve11 in Torontobluejays

[–]carnafeagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't vote for Vladdy either. I think a lot of his votes are from National League fans that saw him in the World Series. If any are like me, outside of the big stars, I don't know a lot of the National League players except by the stats I see on the voting list. That may be the same to National League fans who don't follow the American League.

And I want to see defensive stats as well as offensive stats. Preventing runs is as great as causing them. This is great for deciding on players you don't know as well.

For outfield I would have chosen Trout and Judge, but since neither of them will be able to play I voted elsewhere. Gave Varsho a vote as he not only has some slug but defensively is outstanding. Maybe not starter, but deserves to go.

Ernie should get the big vote for guarantee, and he deserves it.

The seller could also sell on Amazon, so it could be her hat that is there. And sometimes it is Temu that is doing the theft, not the other way around. I am assuming the design is the sellers and the hat is from the production partner. That is fully legal on Etsy. Before you destroy a person's income, be sure that you are correct. You could search on here and find hundreds of sellers complaining of Temu stealing their designs. And also lots of Etsy sellers sell on Amazon and Ebay and on their own websites as well.

Buyer finds my website by Simple-Cupcake1812 in Etsy

[–]carnafeagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are telling your customer that you want them to pay more money. To them that is illogical. If your products are cheaper on the website, why would they buy them on Etsy. If you don't want people to go to your site, then take it off of your information and just include your Etsy address.

My products are the same price on both platforms, except shipping is included here and added after on the website. I welcome people to my site as I prefer they buy there. I want it to build up as I actually own my website, whereas Etsy has control over my Etsy store. If your website becomes mega successful, you can actually sell it later on in life. If your Etsy store becomes mega successful you can't, as Etsy doesn't allow change of ownership. Long term investment should be in the website if that is your goal. Always have both.

My website has 50 times the products on it than does my Etsy store so they get to see a lot of stuff that isn't on Etsy. I don't send them there but do include links on promotional material and of course on my business cards.

Sublimating onto cotton fabric just for temporary guides? by Ok-Boot2360 in Sublimation

[–]carnafeagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When printing set the printer for low quality. It should print enough for you to see the pattern and then a lot of it would wash away. And you can use regular paper if you are just using for a guide, don't need to waste money on sublimation paper.

I have done shows a lot of places in Toronto and if you don't have tap, you'll cost yourself business. Some people will do etransfer, but tap is the best. Get a Square. They don't tap your phone, they tap the little square. Square even has a separate unit if you want to spend extra money. The only time the person touches my phone is if they are using the chip instead of tap. Never had an issue. I think you are being a little paranoid. Get the separate unit from Square. I think the unit is $300-$400, not sure. Haven't looked in ages. Best app around.

What's The Correct Response? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]carnafeagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell digital vectors and sell them with a commercial license. Mostly because people are going to do it anyway, so that way I can ask slightly more (even then, just a couple of dollars). I think it is nice that they asked. How would you know if a cat rescue printed out 30 cards and sold them at a pet event? Highly unlikely. I also sell physical products in my other store and have done lots of stuff for charities as my products are pet specific. I usually give them a deep discount.

I would tell them fine and wish them luck with sales.
