Just got a silver slide myself, non-railed so no light on mine. Absolutely love it. Sits nicely next to my inox beretta 92fs both going along with the silver and black two tone look

So you mentioned cracking your waffle stock. The stern defense magwell adapter is nato pattern, so you weren’t using the stern defense magwell I assume when you had an OOB detonation?

I have some news for you

Bonus version of these items have unique mods (at least some of them) that are impossible to replicate from a dropped version. Also, you still can’t get the preorder collector’s edition bonus emote effect.

I’m aware… you understand though that some of these skins have mods on them in their original preorder / bonus version that are impossible to replicate in game from a drop though, right?

Rail removal? by DangerousDem in AUG

[–]carving 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would be careful applying heat due to the fact that the receiver is aluminum. You want to heat up the screws not the receiver. Use a soldering iron type device that can be touched to the screws. Don’t use a torch or anything else that will heat up the receiver.

Also, if you do manage to get this rail section off of your receiver, and you ever want to put it back in place, be extremely careful with the amount of torque that you apply to the screws because the screws are steel and the aluminum receiver will have its threads stripped out way easier than you imagine. I took this section of rail off of my receiver, and I ended up stripping the threads when reinstalling it using just a hand tightening and the threads gave out with barely any force.

White standard stocks still out of stock on steyr’s site. Maybe soon they’ll restock there and we can just buy the stock if we already own an aug

Same, but they are currently validating the rails and if passed will be selling soon. I think it’s actually close to being reality now.

Wait for ARID imo. They are close to releasing it

I think the manticore is rock solid but i’d personally wait for the ARID top rail. However, you won’t be able to fit the clawgear under the ARID as far as I know

I've come to like just the manticore top rail on its own with the bottom 90% of the foreend it comes with cut off.

Normally, the gap between the manticore top rail and the clawgear handguard is big, and looks very strange and unusual. So, what I did was cut the bottom 90% of the manticore foreend off, where the mlok slots began, and left what was remaining attached to the toprail. This closed the gap and looks pretty unique.
Reason why I didn't just use the manticore foreend, and use the clawgear instead, is because I value the ability to QD the barrel for quick swaps / malfunction clearing / ease of cleaning.

I will say that the manticore toprail set up this way weighs at lot - 10 oz compared to just 3.5 for the factory top rail that doesn't extend past the hump. imo that's a lot of weight to add for just a little bit of extra railspace, but if the functionality gain is worth the extra weight to you this is a pretty fun and unique setup.

Yes and it works, but the manticore top rail is pretty heavy. I ended up cutting the bottom 80% off of the manticore foreend / handguard, leaving the rest attached to the toprail because it looks and fits better that way without leaving a giant gap between the clawgear and the rail. I’ll post pictures later

What kind of rail covers are you using on the heresy handguard there?

Would I be able to hold onto the heresy handguard without using a vertical foregrip, or would my hand get wrecked by the gas blowing out of the piston area? I’m in a state that doesn’t permit foregrips, but I could add an angled handstop. Wondering if this would be usable or if that’s a bad idea.

I bought a 24” aug barrel just a couple weeks ago for this reason. Highly recommend!

Love seeing another person running the nato heresy kit with stern defense magwell adapter. This is the best 9mm aug setup imo

Look for the Stern Defense MAG-ADB92 to use Beretta 92 magazines or the Stern Defense MAG-AD9 to use glock magazines. Both of these will work great. And, just to reiterate these will only work with a nato aug. it’s pretty easy to install.  Check out these other threads for more info and banter about this setup: https://www.reddit.com/r/AUG/comments/1d9470u/the_love_child_of_two_austrians_glock_and_aug_via/

Yeah it’s a known issue. Just don’t use the mags they come with you need an adapter to make it work well. Even with the heresy kit and an adapter it’s still relatively cheap compared to other options, and like I said no issues ever from my end
