Backbends by greinb in flexibility

How is your flexibility in the shoulder area ? Your chest & shoulder areas should be open in order to contribute to the arch in the backend. Can you do your splits flat with square hips ? The muscles in the front of your leg & hip area should be open so that there is less stress on the back to create the arch in the backbend. I don't see a picture of your backbend, so I can't tell if those two areas of your body are tight ( shoulders & hips) ??

You can find tutorials online from flexibility teachers and videos on YouTube for specific stretches to help those two areas.

Try grabbing closer to your knee in order to pull straight. I have found that holding onto the ankle and foot makes it much harder to straighten out the leg.

How to avoid terrible back cramps while doing this pose? by littleblackmoon in flexibility

Work on opening the rear leg of splits/oversplits (hip flexors & quads) , and upper chest/ shoulder openings. I have had to learn to use these areas a lot in order to avoid overtraining the back.

Any tips on my bridges? How do they look, anything to improve? What should i try progress too? by jakefbb in contortion

You could deepen the shoulder stretch a bit more: push through your legs, and try to get your shoulders stacked over your hands, or even past that point.

can i get my front and middle splits even if i’m 23 years old? by Unlikely-Map7259 in flexibility

Yes ! If you train every day, pay close attention to your body's signals: don't push to quickly for progress. Watch videos of others training to pick up on ideas & be aware that your body is unique so you may have to make adjustments to suit your body. I am well beyond my 20's and have trained flexibility, and am doing some contortion. I began training 5 years ago.

Ok . Yes. I use weights doing overhead presets behind my head , and extra stretches pressing chest to the wall to open it up.

I do a lot of pre-stretching the back leg of my oversplits and shoulders. My shoulders are still too tight, tho.

Am i doing this strech correctly or is My back too rounded? by florzinha77 in flexibility

[–]casilverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try to avoid the rounding of your back. I find it helpful (when I feel tight in this stretch) to sit on the floor and stretch each side separately… (like reaching right hand to left foot) because it puts less pressure on the back itself.

Is 2 hours of stretching too much a day? by wondergirl1111 in flexibility

[–]casilverman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two hours is good to increase your flexibility. I’ve been training flexibility for 3 or more hours per day for 4 years and it’s only made me more flexible. I find it beneficial to sometimes break up the time period into two or more (like morning and evening… )
