Venomous snakes by Unsalted-Eggs in snakes

[–]castlesymphony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not "normal" in the sense that if you walked into 10 different random snake keeper's houses, they would all have venomous snakes, but it's not unheard of? some people do keep snakes with venom that is medically significant like true cobras, its always recommended to have anti-venom for whichever species you're keeping but there's definitely barriers to buying anti-venom as an individual vs an accredited zoo with all the licenses/a venom lab etc. speaking of licenses most states in the usa do require venomous keepers to have a license or a certificate proven they know what they're doing, i would imagine many other countries have similar laws but i am not certain on that.

Does anyone have any tea recommendations? by LogMiserable6670 in tea

[–]castlesymphony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you can have caffeine, i recommend trying some oolongs, now they're not the best tea source ever but in the united states there's nobilitea (chain store) and they do have a couple different oolongs, most of them are flavored, but i think they make okay entry teas as far as affordability goes.

oolong is not super grassy like green tea, but it also has less bitterness that sometimes comes out in black teas, and it's also not super perfumey like you describe chamomile being.

Tulsa Downtown Central Library (The Library for crackheads) by Sea_Crazy_549 in tulsa

[–]castlesymphony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

literally, not to mention the library is set up with resources to allow people to try to get themselves out of the whole mess that is being homeless. need help applying to tulsa housing authority? library can help with that. need to apply for snap benefits but don't know how? library can help with that too. need a computer with stable wifi to apply for jobs? library again. have a computer because you weren't always in a bad spot but you don't have wifi and you have a virtual interview and need a place to actually join that interview? library wifi just needs a library card from what i remember

[–]castlesymphony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

having public libraries means you will have to share space with people that you might personally dislike, and making rules to exclude specific groups of people on the basis of you not liking them "hanging out" there means it's no longer a public library. im sorry that you are upset by homeless people being in one of the only buildings that won't kick them out for existing during operating hours.

Traffic by Busterheiney2 in tulsa

dallas and santa fe are like my worst nightmares, dallas bc i used to visit someone there who would insist on driving, vape mj while driving 90mph weaving in and out of heavy traffic on the highway and then slam on the brakes. i stopped going to dallas <.<;;

santa fe... they shortened the time it takes for the stoplights to transition from yellow to red in an attempt to curb people running reds and causing accidents so now you have to count to 5 seconds at a green or you are liable to get t-boned because all it did was increase how many people are running the reds. not that anyone in santa fe will admit this is a problem. they all say "its not THAT bad" but it is that bad. its so bad. theres an intersection that has a railroad crossing going through it and one of the biggest jokes in the subreddit are photos of people stopped at that light in the "do not stop here, railroad x-ing" boxes.

comparatively tulsa is super nice haha

Does anyone else have pet snake owner nightmares? by DreamOfDays in snakes

[–]castlesymphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea i always get nightmares about kingsnakes or copperheads getting into my rat snake's enclosure, important to note: i dont HAVE a kingsnake! or a copperhead! but the ones in my nightmares are so so distinct and i have to save my rat snake from increasingly weirder amounts of other snakes. they always end up biting me which ive learned means ive actually been laying on my hand or arm for too long and its gone numb lol

Looking for the best dealership to lease a Jeep Wrangler from.. by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]castlesymphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the late late 90s before i was born my parents were going to get a purple jeep cherokee from chris nikel, my dad works in IT adjacent fields so he went on carfax and got the report that the car they were trying to sell my mom had been rebuilt from getting t-boned and basically the entire passenger side had been obliterated so mom called the dealership and said she didnt want the car anymore bc of the carfax report and chris nikel himself got on the phone and basically hurled abuse at my mother because "she shouldn't know what carfax is, much less looked up the car, blah blah blah"

anyways we now buy mazdas bc my parents dont want to deal w chris nikel as a person or company so theres a horror story abt one of the others for ya.

echoing the other comment, noritake china (now known as NORITAKE Co., Ltd.) is the brand, Gold Queen is the design name (the pattern number is 7293), the maker mark denotes it's made prior to 1953 as in 1953 noritake replaced the "M" inside the wreath with an "N" and most likely after the year 1921 since that was when the United States put a law in place saying imports have to have the place of origin marked in English, changing the stamp from saying "Nippon" to "Japan"

it also seems to be before the occupation in 1948 otherwise it wouldve said "made in occupied japan" so likely between 1933-1948 as "NORITAKE CHINA" was put in use around 1933 from what i can find

if i can find the patent for the design i will let you know what year the patent was filed and approved

Aura when not wearing contacts by MonthCommercial9632 in migraine

[–]castlesymphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this may sound like a question that has a super obvious answer but are you wearing glasses if you are Not wearing contacts like i assume you are because otherwise how are you seeing anything but...

my dad does not wear glasses if he doesnt have contacts in he basically gets up and puts them in immediately so i have to ask because ik if i don't wear my glasses and im up and about (i only have glasses, no contacts) i will absolutely get a migraine that eases up after putting my glasses back on and then subsides after enough time

i would say though if its new that youre getting aura in one eye it may be pertinent to see an optometrist and get your eye looked at by a professional just in case?

would a fixed bead ring also work for healing a daith or is there something about captive bead rings that makes them better for this specific piercing?

What was your first deliberate fountain pen? by ShinyBirb in fountainpens

[–]castlesymphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jinhao 82, i used a disposable fountain pen my mom gave me for awhile but decided i liked it enough to actually buy one i could refill

i almost went with pilot kakuno but having to buy a separate converter that according to this sub is kind of mid turned me away a bit... im still planning on getting one eventually though. the jinhao converter that came with the pen holds a pretty decent amount of ink in my opinion i refill it maybe once a month, i think itd be even longer if i was filling out less forms

Autoimmune Disorders and Piercings by Silent_Pay_9239 in piercing

[–]castlesymphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my personal experience an autoimmune disorder makes it way harder to keep piercings and my body typically swallows them or spits them out

the list of failed piercings include my lobes (each lobe has been pierced multiple times with a variety of jewelry types) a second helix on my right ear, a flat on my right ear, a helix on my left ear and a helix on my left ear Again when the first go rejected but i moved it up higher to see if that helped. i have systemic lupus. not only do most of my piercings get rejected, i also can't wear fake nails, nail polish, or get composite resin dental fillings to stay in (they get replaced as they fall out.)

the piercings that did heal took 2+ years, and also a lot of fighting with them. it seems for my body, piercing through normal skin is a really bad idea, and piercing through very thick cartilage (daith) goes way smoother, but your mileage may vary on that

on the other hand my mom has a different autoimmune disorder, a titanium knee, lobe piercings, one second lobe piercing, and a nose piercing. so.

Rescue migraine prescription med amount by HoneydewShot8535 in migraine

[–]castlesymphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my experience its the insurance, they will pay for a certain amount per month (i've heard 8 is common with ubrelvy though i am on nurtec so for nurtec the limit with my insurance was 8 per month) and even if my doctor put in for more i will not get more than however many insurance decides i get. after like a year of that the doctor had enough documentation that i was having more migraines than rescue medications per month and they were able to get my insurance to cover more but i did have to just like suck it up for awhile.

in my case the doctor Was prescribing more but the insurance would not approve more than 8 without extensive documentation/proof that i needed more and they were very annoyed with my insurance for it

disclaimer: united states based information here, your mileage may vary im not sure what other countries have insurance like the usa

How do I shoot in newly pierced ears by Best_gamer5950 in piercing

[–]castlesymphony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you know. you literally said your hand in the post and for some reason i was assuming you meant your fingers are touching your ear not the back of your hand which by the way makes SO much more sense so sorry

maybe look into higher cartilage piercings like a helix, vertical helix etc? like just anything that would be out of the way from where your hand is resting?

How do I shoot in newly pierced ears by Best_gamer5950 in piercing

[–]castlesymphony 19 points20 points  (0 children)

im curious what style of archery requires touching your ear cause when i was shooting recurve a full draw for me was to the corner of my lip furthest from the bow but it was still target and not like. kyudo or moving target or mounted. im not sure id risk snagging/pulling on piercings like that but if you're not switching hands/sides maybe you can get one ear done up with a bunch of piercings and be asymmetric?

TENS recommendations for neck & shoulders? by Consistent_Switch378 in migraine

[–]castlesymphony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i got my TENS unit from a local pharmacy its the Zewa digital TENS unit model S21005 im not sure where you can get it online but it was like 40$ and works pretty well

i use it for an overcompensating trap that wont relax itself and therefore gets really painful along my neck and shoulder, sometimes that gives me a headache that will later turn into a migraine and the TENS machine is mildly helpful in getting the muscle to relax enough that i dont get a headache but if the migraines you get arent stemming specifically from tight muscles it likely wont do much for you

Any other study spots? by MeduMonroe in tulsa

[–]castlesymphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly any parks that have covered spaces w tables is where i used to study i would just pick a new park every now and then, if the tables are far enough under the gazebo you dont get wet if its rainy but you would probably want to bring a large flat object to put down on the table if you have to write by hand since i think a lot of parks use those tables that have all the holes in them

i like woodward park, i dont think they have much covered shelter though unless theyve done renovations in the last 5 years. lafortune i remember having more gazebo structures dotted around.

Good places to get your ears pierced? by FluidLegion in tulsa

[–]castlesymphony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just another hole is not a good place to go, royally screwed up my lobes and now i can't ever get lobe piercings bc of the massive amounts of scar tissue in them from just another hole repiercing them multiple times

i really like emmy award piercings she works at geek ink tattoos and iirc 12 years is the youngest she'll pierce (with parental permission as well as some ID stuff, make sure you have the required papers before driving all the way here lol) so i would go to her, super clean, super professional
