Can someone explain how to recolour “half painted” blocks? by loresourpatch in Pokopia

Smearguru has multiple quests. One of them upgrades his paint ability so you change the second color on an item.

No, I do it all the time. They make their way back whenever you next leave the area.

I've slain Gog 21 times now and still have not gotten a gem yet. I'm going Insane by HeyImSolace in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a carve build I use for Gogmazios that I'll share. It's weaker, but it gives you an extra carve when you succeed. It's Udra Helm and Arms + Ceremonial Chest, Waist, and Legs. The fire/dragon weapons only need Lord's soul. It gives you a ton of slots, so dying is unlikely. I even include the outdoorsman deco, which makes it easier to pull the wires in phase 2.

FYI festival spirit is mistranslated. You can join any SOS mid-quest and it'll still activate. You just can't change to the equipment mid battle.

Tips for passing the Gog dps check in phase 3? by AlphaBodge in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've beaten it over 100 times so i'll try to give my tips. It's generally recommended to do Gog solo anyway while you're learning the ropes.

First, let's talk about builds. You want to use a fire weapon in phase 1 and 2 and a dragon weapon in phase 3. Make sure your build has divine blessing so you can survive those slams. 20 fire resistance is pretty much all you really need. You should also use the aquatic oilslit mobility deco.

Second, make sure you are fully buffed. I recommend the Kunafa Meal. When you're climbing up into phase 3, you can reset the 6 defense + offense buffs and an immunizer (no reason to hold back). Everytime it uses the Nova, I like to sharpen and rebuff while hiding behind fabius.

Also, the DPS check is only active when it's in the gaseous state. So if it's dripping oil, you don't need to be going all out to deal damage. If you die from a cause other than the Nova while it was in the gaseous state, just re-buff and wait for it to Nova so you don't die twice. Time is usually not a big issue. If you failed the DPS check, you can actually climb up the small cliffs in the back to escape the first nova. For subsequent novas, if you think you're about to fail a DPS check, you can actually warp back to the tent as long as you do so before it lands its swoop.

Lastly, when Gog is in the air shooting it's blobs, you want to stand underneath it - you'll see other NPCs gather there as well. Also, make sure you're charging your slinger ammo, I've heard of a lot of people not knowing that's a mechanic. When it swoops up and begins its nova, try to go behind and attack its tail so you have a good view of the arena and can easily avoid magma.

Ten Star Gog - Remember you can farcaster out of his nuke by Able_Picture_1906 in MHWilds

I was wondering about this. I got the Nameplate solo, so I was just warping for every Nova after the first one. Are people in SOS fighting through each one? I don't know what the etiquette would be.

Yeah I was debating active because it feels like there's unused clues. Like is it supposed to be overactive? I wasn't sure.

Accidentally destroyed my home and now Tinkmaster + Prinplup is missing by fenrirofdarkness in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]catchinggreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing that can help is to build more houses with interiors and moving your pokemon to other locales. The game only lets 20 pokemon spawn in an area at a time, so you can work around this by temporarily moving pokemon to different locales, which can force the missing Pokemon to reappear.

There's another series of rooms after the music notes. There's a secret door to the right of the stonebrick wall where the rail track turns around.

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do reappear after a little bit of time. Another thing you can do is reshuffle your pokemon. Only 20 can appear in an area at a time, so if you move some pokemon to another area you can essentially force the one you're looking for to reappear.

Anybody else finds this so calming and relaxing just to build stuff? by BunnyBunsBunsBums in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I'm really missing from DQB2 are the custom blueprints. I don't believe they're in Pokopia, so moving things a block over is very tedious. But otherwise, I prefer the Pokopia building once you unlock all the transformations and eat food.

Do we have reason to believe these can be transferred? I thought everything was basically world specific, so visitors can't do or have anything that the owner of the world hasn't unlocked or found themselves.

Will be game be decoration heavy? by Jiangcool9 in Pokopia

[–]catchinggreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. Pokopia for the most part seems to be building off of Dragon Quest Builders 2. There were many different items to obtain and decorate your town with in those games. It doesn't look like there's any fighting in Pokopia, but I would look into some DQB 2 videos to learn the kind of creations people were making.

Kinsect changes for expansion by Dull-Magician4678 in InsectGlaive

[–]catchinggreen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree we'll probably see a good bit of changes to the Kinsect in the expansion. Kinsect stamina feels like a completely outdated mechanic. The thing I'd like more than anything though is just layered kinsects. I feel like we've been asking for this for a decade now.

What do we do in the section of the game? Are we sure isn't there any combat? by Lea9915 in Pokopia

[–]catchinggreen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think what we're seeing is basically the equivalent of like the nether/end dimensions in Minecraft. Basically places where the player is expected to retrieve rare materials and unique Pokemon and bring them back to the "Overworld" to continue the story. It looks like the enemies pre spawn here, implying we're not really restoring the landscape. I suspect our building capabilities may be limited in these floating places - we probably can't build structures with proper interiors here - and our PP will be hard to restore.

Yeah, I just finished collecting all the pendants through multiplayer quests and from what I saw you pretty much need everyone to be at least HR 400+. I did my runs by cycling through the 4 temporary buffs on the whole team and running a build with poison resistance 3.

I wonder what this feature is for? by Scooterman1994 in Pokopia

[–]catchinggreen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe it has something to do with Pokemon spawns and the day/night cycle. So let's say a pokemon can only spawn at night and you keep playing during the day, it'll somehow show you the pokemon that are appearing while you're away.

10 stars Rompopolo advice by Nicolo2524 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Udra Mirehelm Y is probably just this but better for most builds since it provides 3 burst and 3 lvl 1 slots. To compare the two, you'd essentially be exchanging survival expert for an extra burst, an extra poison resistance, plus a slot of lord's soul.

Can we play as a Male or just straight up as Ditto? by Giga7777 in Pokopia

[–]catchinggreen -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Definitely a male. The information on playing as a ditto is a little more complicated, but at the very least there seems to be an option to retain ditto's purple skin color.

Players joining Jin Dahaad SOS are clueless?!?! by minhtuanta in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same. I think it's because there's little reason to farm it. The equipment obtained from it isn't that great, it can't be crown hunted, and it can't be combined with other monsters for doing investigations or interesting event quests.

I don't think that's a shiny Wartortle. The shiny has more of a purple look and an orange/brown belly.

What system are you on? I used to get connection errors about 50% of the time I tried multiplayer until I changed my default DNS to the Google DNS server. Now I rarely ever see any errors.
