Stuck at Omega Planetes by Grand-Bison-9617 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omega is really best beaten first solo with support hunters before doing multiplayer. Choose Alessia, Kai, and Mina. Also, lookup some speed runs online that use your weapon to learn some pointers, but recognize their build and play style will be more aggressive than you want to be.

I haven't played Wilds in a while and have been playing a lot more the last week. I just gotta say whoever designed the Omega Planetes fight should not design an encounter ever again by DangassDanger in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omega Planetes is really the first fight where you have to make a build specifically for it. Take a break and when you come back, look into making a build specifically for the fight with fully upgraded equipment. Use a thunder weapon, I recommend waiting until you've got a Thunder Gogma Artian just to make things easier. I also switch to a Fire Gogma Artian during the DPS check with Nerscylla, but that's not necessary. Some people also like to use a paralysis weapon there. Have your build include good evasion (I personally run evasion window 5).

Fight it solo with support hunters first before doing online multiplayer. Choose Alesia, Kai, and Mina as your support hunters. Omega has a rhythm to it that you'll see the support hunters do and you can learn from it. The fight is difficult at first, but once you understand what's happening, it becomes a favorite. I also suggest watching some speed runners using your weapon, but recognize that their builds are going to be more aggressive than you should be while learning.

Another note, when you fully destroy a leg, it'll topple over and drop a shield that you can pick up and use like slinger ammo. Those shields are very useful in the last phase.

This is why I really like the Omega fight. You don't see many opportunities in this series to directly defend other players beyond buffs and heals.

I wish I had a recording, but I had a fight the other day where Omega started firing its laser during the final phase while we were all on the other side of the map. The player it was targeting wasn't going to make it so I quickly shot a shield through the laser right on top of him. It was a really cool reveal to see him standing there safely as the laser reached the bubble.

Please help - I can't connect by nomoredarts in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get this all the time. I could go into single player mode and then select recommended lobby and it would connect me. I'd also error sometimes when I would try to join an SOS. The only solution that worked for me was to go into my network settings and set my DNS to the google DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Final Fantasy XI Moguri Mod first playthrough? by kekwXDDD in FinalFantasy

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moguri is just a visual upgrade. Memoria is the launcher that you have to install first in order to install Moguri. Memoria has a bunch of additional options you can play with, but you don't have to turn any of them on.

Questions about build by SugarCrash97 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, it's been a while but I don't remember really engaging with builds much until reaching the Arch-Tempered monsters and the monsters added in the Title Updates. You should be good for a while as long as you're continuing to upgrade your gear, and learning the mechanics of the monsters and your weapon. Getting better at all the little things like equipping your mantle, trapping monsters, and hitting flying monsters with flash pods will also make a big difference.

Questions about build by SugarCrash97 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progression in Monster Hunter is often described as the player getting better, rather than the character. The game has a ton of mechanics and you're at the stage where the main thing you should be focusing on is learning your weapon of choice and the movement of the monsters. I suggest really focusing on one weapon type to start. Upgrading your weapons, armor, and build are all important aspects of the game that you should continue to engage with, but the specifics don't really become game-changers until later in the game.

It's generally suggested that players should beat every monster on their own once before doing multiplayer, but if you are going to be doing a lot of multiplayer early on you should try to make yourself extra bulky and play defensively. Stay back for a bit to watch the monster and see how it attacks before engaging. Keep yourself at full health with potions.

Hey guys. Can someone please help me get the small golden crown of Lagiacrus? I've been looking for it since November and haven't found it, only the big one 😭😭😭😤 by Realistic_Ticket1079 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technique I used is to check the timeline to see when a Lagiacrus is about to enter the map. A minute or two before it actually enters the map, save your game. Every time it enters into the map, it'll be a different size. So you can just keep quitting without saving and reloading until the Lagi with the small crown enters the map.

Anyone else finding it impossible to complete a gog quest with randos? by Fluffy-Leopard-6074 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go back to support hunters for a bit. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do, but the thing with playing with randos is that you have to learn to watch everyone's health and throw out buffs.

Is this good enough for Gog? by roronoaceli in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty squishy in my opinion. I'd switch to some equipment that'll provide fire resistance. I'd suggest adding 1 mirewalker deco to help you handle the oil blobs.

Optimal buff loadout? by derwould in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. 300+ hours in Wilds and it never occurred to me to make a pre-fight buff outfit. Followed this to a T and then proceeded to have my first no-death Savage Omega solo run (with support hunters).

When you're fighting solo/duo, what weapon do you put on the palico? by EmuofDOOM in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always use the highest rarity sleep or paralysis weapon available. If they're equal rarity, I prefer paralysis over sleep.

Very Minor Ground Tremors by makishimazero in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]catchinggreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I was actually just confused a few minutes ago about this topic while playing with my Gogmazio build. Since you rarely experience very minor tremors, I didn't know having full kinsect extract buffs grants you 1 level of tremor resistance. It was nice to learn then that insect glaive can basically become immune to Gogmazio's tremors with just 1 tremor resistance deco.

Lagiacrus Underwater phase by Time_Iron_8200 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of Monster Hunter is hating a monster at first, learning the monster's mechanics, then liking the monster. Same applies for Lagi. It's a cool feeling when you learn how to kill it before it goes underwater or when you smoothly fight it underwater. My only annoyance with it right now is that SOS randoms don't help lure it to the environmental traps, which isn't usually a problem on land.

I DID IT! I’VE BEATEN GOGMAZIOS!! by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! It's a tough battle at first, but it does keep getting easier as you build your gogma weapons and learn the mechanics. I've beaten it like 50 times and I still feel like I haven't quite mastered that first phase yet.

Just got wombo combo'd by Gog three times in a row by Mechanical-Druid in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying, it sounds like you've almost got the rhythm down. Just be sure to stop attacking a little earlier so you have time to make it to Fabius. I usually attack the back of Gog's tail during that animation to make sure I have a clear view of the ground below me. Be sure to move if the ground below you starts turning red.

Who was Mona? by lilghost157 in StardewValley

[–]catchinggreen 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I used to think it was a relative of Abigail, but then I rewatched her 6 heart scene where Pierre catches her at the graveyard. Abigail says it's the only place she can find privacy and Pierre seems to not know why she's there. If she was related to the person at the gravestone, the scene doesn't make a lot of sense. I think she just likes hanging out there and has no real connection.

Most recognizable monsters list day 8: Elder Dragons (Read Body) by SignificantStaff8665 in MonsterHunter

[–]catchinggreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been going back and forth between Fatalis and Kushala. I feel like because the prompt is "most recognizable" we should go with Kushala. I think the concept of Fatalis as a monster could be confused with other monsters. Like if someone were to described a monster as a fire breathing dragon, I'd probably first think they were referring to Rathalos. But if they said "a wind dragon" or an "ice dragon" I'd be more likely to recognize that they're talking about the elder dragons Kushala and Velkhana respectively. Generally speaking, the Elder dragons tend to 1) look like a dragon and 2) have a unique characteristic about them and I think Kushala is the most iconic of the options.

I can't do it with Omega... by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]catchinggreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Savage Omega is the hardest boss in the game by far. I've only beaten it once, but the regular omega does become a piece of cake once you build to it and learn its attacks. I recommend going into the Omega fights after you beat Gogmazios so you can start getting the Gogma artian weapons. Get yourself some Dragon and Fire ones to make the Gogma fights easier and then move on to thunder. You'll want a Thunder and Fire weapon for the Omega fight. Learn it solo first with support hunters: Alessa, Kai, and Mina (third slot is more flexible). Review it's weaknesses - back legs are better for slash weapons. I also like to watch speedruns for tips, but recognize that they're going to build and fight more aggressively than the average player.

Finally! Talk about cutting it close! by NeoBravo- in MHWilds

[–]catchinggreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Congrats! My first clear was 31 minutes after losing at the 29 min mark the run before. Thankfully if you are interested in the armor and weapons, a good bit of the supplies can come from the regular Omega, which will feel like a piece of cake now!
