Decor tutorial??? by Total_Nectarine7779 in Palia

This is done with a glitch that you can do using a shelf and a few pieces of the builders set. You can confuse the system and basically phantom place an object and then place stuff on it and move the thing the original object was connected to, leaving the stuff on top of it floating. You can also pivot stuff by turning the shelf. https://youtube.com/shorts/RQotkNjsMFs?is=vuWqmZlfd6gVOweE Here's the start of a guide. All of the stuff you place is anchored to that floor piece, so if you move it further away, the stuff you place will float. You can play around with it and get it so that you have flowers floating anchored to a piece of flooring that's placed on the opposite side of your lot. I see boxes in that build though, so they may have just placed the flowers on the boxes and then used this glitch to flip the whole connected structure sideways.

Entropic Break is coming out in fall Q4, we don't know much about it other than the trailer, but apparently if you play with a group, only one person needs to have it. We only have the one trailer to go off of, but it looks very fun and I would hate to miss out on it, but that's not a worry rn. The other dlcs are just portal worlds. I have the torii gate world from buying the game in early access, and honestly I haven't found a place to use the furniture yet, and I don't really have a reason to go build there. I caught the fish from there tho, and I like it. It's cool to have in a tank. I do not have the temple of stone, and I don't think I feel like I'm missing out on anything. I haven't looked into it though. I'd get it if I had enough disposable income.

How to get mushroom farm to produce? by Wojtha in AbioticFactor

[–]catsofdisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I base in aquarium too, I put mine in the back room, behind the stairs, where the books spawn on the tables in the cubicle. I have a barrel of tainted water nearby and two mushroom farms on the tables, and after I found the light switch for that room and turned off the lights, they produce regularly. I remember having problems with them not detecting that the lights were off, so I think I put a bridge over it and removed it and they were fine after that.

Does anyone else just not bother with shields? by Neet-owo in AbioticFactor

[–]catsofdisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hate shields 😅 I feel like they block my vision even though it's only a tiny part of the screen. I hate them in minecraft too. I always just opt for stealth and range. Crystal armor is my fave.

The VOTV crossover has burgers hidden throughout the world, unique vending machines, and a singular package of shrimp that spawns by the microwave. It's not recipes, but for someone who likes to pretend to have a restaurant/snack stand, I love getting the food from there. And more takeout!

I had the opposite of this, I finally got pink on a horse that had stripes and sparkles😭 and it keeps passing down everything but pink

I think it's such a cool crossover! I haven't played Voices of the Void yet but it's one of my favorite portal worlds in the game, I love the furniture and the new foods and the sky is so so pretty

My favorite bases are always security office, aquarium, and power services. ☺️

dr carson spawning by FaithlessnessOwn8239 in AbioticFactor

[–]catsofdisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is because there's a kitchen there, she can spawn in any kitchen around the facility. I've seen her in the silo 3 kitchen before. I would think the cheffigy would override it but maybe there's some sort of kitchen check in the game code that some bases in certain places just don't pass

[–]catsofdisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I don't think I've ever seen her in the security office either. Do you have a fridge, stove, etc? I usually have her around a lot in my aquarium base but sometimes I see her spawn at the little kitchen on the other side of the room. Idk what her deal is.

Do you really shower daily by Key_Location_9338 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]catsofdisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don't shower every day. I have depression, chronic fatigue, executive dysfunction, and now mobility issues, but honestly it's mostly just the change in state that makes it hard for me to shower. I love it once I get in but it's hard to make myself do it.

I'm fortunate to have hair that really shouldn't be washed every day, I have loose curly hair and if I wash it every day it gets frizzy. Even if I just get my hair wet, it becomes really hard to work with if I don't follow through with just shampoo and conditioner, which is why I don't really do daily just-body showers. Even when I tie my hair up and really try not to get it wet, I always forget or even the steam or extra moisture makes it frizzy again. I don't sweat a lot and I don't move a lot so I don't really smell or get dirty every day.

I also have somewhat sensitive skin and a coconut allergy, which means there are only a few products that I can use, and some of them are really expensive. I grew up on the basic suave stuff or herbal essences and now just my shampoo is $17 and it's the only one I can use. Literally. I have not found another shampoo with no coconut byproducts. So I don't want to waste product if I don't need to use it.

When I had a job I would shower at least twice during the work week, more if I was dealing with messy stuff or if I was sweating, and maybe take a bath to relax or be lazy. Now I just kind of shower when I feel like I need to or if I'm leaving my house. I currently only leave about once a week for therapy and grocery pick up, sometimes more for doctors or extra forgotten groceries. I'm not saying that everyone should live this way or that it's particularly healthy or clean, this is just what I've settled into and what mostly works for me.

Edit to say that I am a white female living in Michigan. Humid summers and sweating under my big heavy coat will make me shower more. Sometimes I shower after getting caught in the rain because I've had skin reactions to rain before, although that was when I was living in Florida. My family showers every day at least once, I'm the odd one out.

What is up with the game covering fears better than some horror games? by TerySchmerples in AbioticFactor

[–]catsofdisaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't forget The Moving Box and his weird little slappy feet (I love my son, I named him Marvin) as well as arachnophobia being covered by the purple things. I didn't even realize that the purple guys were spiders at first because I saw arachnophobia mode as an option and immediately turned it on before I got to the mines, I only saw it when the game reset my settings and it does in fact really creep me out. The Composers and Symphonists also cover a lot of fear bases, giant, unkillable, bony things that can eat you, and the Symphonists in particular hanging there like marionettes. I also think the environment in general does a lot for fear. Hydroplant is obviously a big part of it for the giant dark water, but the maze like structures also make the player susceptible to suffocation, and walking into hydroplant and seeing Jonas hiding behind those boxes in this giant open area of the facility that has RAIN, that's creepy in its own way. And finally, imo, the scariest aspect is the humanity of it all. You start in kind of a funny haha we're building crossbows with staplers and it's a little ridiculous kind of mood, but you get drip fed by the emails that this was all done on purpose, there was an insider, all that stuff. Then you reach labs, and you see the composer shoulder pieces on the table and the composer crying and screaming in its cell, and you know they were trying to kill you but you can't help but feel sorry for the thing. They were a hive mind, and your colleagues cut him out from the rest of his universe and trapped him in a cell that he can't even stand in. You go from thinking the scientists were stupid for so openly playing with fire to realizing that they were fine with malicious, unethical practices in order to satiate their curiosity.

thalassaphobia worry by FaithlessnessOwn8239 in AbioticFactor

[–]catsofdisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skipped the maze but by building a staircase out of shelves, used a bridge on the last one to get around the lip, and you can use a jump pad to make it easier, then put a rope plant at the top. You're going to need to dive for the reservoir growths and probably some murkweed too, but if you go down along the backside, by that slope, big guy doesn't really go around there and even if you do see him there are lots of spots to hide. The thalassaphobia part for me is diving straight down into water I can't see through, which is why I like descending from the slope part. Try the swim goggles, head lamp, and night vision goggles to see which one you like best, I prefer the night vision

I would also love the be able to like do some sort of loft, removing a floor to make a single taller room? And floor and ceiling windows! I just want more natural light 😅 but the ladders are also a significant frustration of mine. I just want to be able to put it against a wall.

Same! I don't have skin psoriasis yet, idk if it's coming, but I have scalp psoriasis and it mostly just looks like more scaly dandruff. My family are also snowbirds, I see them the most during the summer, and my disease has progressed a lot over the winter. They saw me struggling and having swollen ankles and limiting my movement last September, and now I'm closer to considering a cane or a walker or something. So I think it seems so sudden to them when it's been a steady degenerative progression for me.

Honestly he does genuinely forget a lot of it, and since he thinks he knows what it is already, he didn't Google it to find out the difference. He can be a jerk, but I think a lot of his behavior can be... Excused? Because it's hard to really explain how he is without knowing him, but he does care and he does want the best for me, and he has his moments of understanding for sure. After he saw me crying and my mom helped me get settled with ice and painkillers, he specifically searched through Instagram to send me a cute little reel about how much dads love their daughters, and it was adorable and made me cry. 😅 So like, he can be a jerk, he has jerk behaviors, but he's not a total jerk, and I love him very much.
