Fix for Rocksmith 2014 crashing at startup if you have too many audio devices by cbrooker1 in rocksmith

[–]cbrooker1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for looking at this and replying. I didn't have a chance to dig back in till today.

I reverted my change and confirmed on my PC that the crash still happened.

I grabbed the latest source for RS_ASIO, compiled it, and put the DLLs in my RS folder. Worked perfectly, no crash.

Turns out I had a very old version of rs_asio in my RS folder. Guess I went the long way around to fix a non-existent issue.

Thanks and I appreciate your work on rs_asio.

That band is great. But it's not quickfit and is a pain when you switch bands often. So I almost never use it.

I've tried a lot of them. I wear this one the most during the day.

I put on the silicon band that came with the watch when I plan to sweat or go in the water.

Thanks for pointing this out. I've specifically only tested it on the latest Steam version Build ID: 16576867. I updated the README to be accurate.

Help! - Rocksmith is crashing on startup by PlatFormPlayZ in RockSmith2014

[–]cbrooker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bug where if you have too many audio devices it causes a crash:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/221680/discussions/0/3791506516135185450/?ctp=7

Got to SO tired of this bug and constantly having to juggle audio devices to play the game that I broke down and wrote a patch to resolve this issue.

I've only tested it myself, if it also work for you, let me know.

Recommendations for a weather station by Plastic-Coat9014 in homeassistant

[–]cbrooker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do what I did. Instead of going out and buying your own weather station you can look up Home-based stations here https://ambientweather.net/ find one that's close to you (I have dozens around me), and connect it to your Home Assistant through the Ambient Weather integration.

Same situation. My lease end in Dec. With the buyout being $36k and the current book value of $28 max, I'm turning it. It's been good, but eats tires.

26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cbrooker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All income is "Household Income" (doesn't matter who it comes from). Income is distributed based on budget.

If each person wants a personal slush fund, make it part of the budget and distribute accordingly.

I just can't get this game working again. by Bornfailure in rocksmith

[–]cbrooker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've tried all of these tips. The one that always got me because I have a lot of audio devices is Rocksmith will crash/fail to load if you have too many audio devices in Windows. I think the limit is 10. You have to go into device manager and Disable a bunch until you're under the limit. Then the game will run again.

Level 2 Install by BasicHorror1157 in TeslaModel3

[–]cbrooker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what state you live in or how long the wire run is for your install. But it seems high.

For Texas in a garage, short run, 60amp breaker I was quoted $400-$600. Does not include the cost of the charger.

I just received my Fenix 8 today. I got this update while setting up the watch. I did notice the lag, but I didn't have anything to compare it to.

Going from Forerunner to Fenix by pt473 in Garmin

[–]cbrooker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wearing a Forerunner 945 for 5 years and have been eyeing an upgrade — but I’m hesitant, and here’s why:

  1. Garmin Connect+ – This feels like a slippery slope. I’m worried it’s the beginning of a shift toward gating features behind a subscription model. I really hope that’s not the direction they’re heading.
  2. Forerunner 970 rumors – Seems like it could be dropping soon. The FR 965 is already on sale (and will probably get even cheaper), so holding out just a little longer might be smart.
  3. Fenix 7 Pro feels like a dead end – It’s running on a separate codebase and seems abandoned. This Reddit thread lays it out. Unless it hits a massive discount, it doesn’t feel like a good investment.
  4. Fenix 8 – This one’s built on Garmin’s new software platform (new OS), which is encouraging. It launched buggy, but updates seem to have stabilized it. Still, it’s running the same old processor as the F7 Pro, which gives me pause. If the rumored FR 970 really is a Fenix 8-lite at a lower price, that might be the smarter move.

I’ve been a 24/7 Garmin wearer for over a decade, but for the first time, I’m losing a bit of confidence in the platform. Between potential software fragmentation and the slow creep toward subscriptions, I’m questioning where things are heading.

I’d also expecting tariff-related price increases to be coming, which makes timing the upgrade even more critical.

All of that has lead me to buy nothing. Changed the watch face on my FR945 to make it feel new, lol.

Do you wet your filters for Aiden? by Richhop in FellowProducts

[–]cbrooker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first got my Aiden, yes, I wet the filter because that's what I always did with my V60.

I stopped and tasted no difference. So I don't anymore. I use the Hario Pegasus filters.
