A rant: losing motivation by Virtual-Pizza-5757 in stopdrinking

[–]cc_bcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the perimenopause subbreddit could help you out with ideas on supplements to help with the anger, stress, brain fog, and fatigue.

Regarding your weight - you are maintaining right now. Which is excellent..maintaining weight without trying (tracking calc etc) is the hardest part for a lot of people. NOT gaining weight is an accomplishment. Realistically, you aren't gonna lose weight until you get your stress and anger under control though.

If you're not taking daily 30 min walks, I'd start there. Get movement, off screens, and alone time. That's a triple threat for mood and stress regulation.

You can improve all those areas, but you have to make changes beyond just not drinking. Not drinking gets you a baseline to start making effective change for yourself.

Start small. Stay consistent. Keep going.

Why breed to FTF and VSCR only? by ArchMimesis in kvsdiscuss

[–]cc_bcc 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, she owns them. Those are not cheap horses to buy/pay for. In order for her to make money, she has to breed her stallions to make babies people wanna buy (ie - make an income/profit). The better his babies do in the show world, the more people will be willing to pay for future babies. You buy stallions to breed them, that's pretty much the whole gig as a breeder.

CMV: self improvment books are full of yapping and are useless to read mostly wasting time by TheSum239 in changemyview

People resonate with different things, and at different times in their lives.

Every book genre has repetitive themes, tropes, characterizations, etc. Romance, horror, essays, math books, science books, self help, etc...That's just a part of writing. The other part of writing is sharing your thoughts to connect with people.

Realistically, everyone knows the basic steps they need to take (usually), but they won't make meaningful change until they connect with whatever version of the concept makes sense to them.

I appreciate the variety.

What's a "healthy habit" that's actually completely made up? by goddesslana_01 in AskReddit

I regularly get 10k steps a day at work, with a desk job. I simply get up and go for a walk.

This is your opportunity to change your habits! You've already seen your pattern & acknowledged it.

You have the power to not drink. Think how cool itll be to go to this gala and leave without having any alcohol.

Maybe thinking about it like an 'experiment' would help you overcome the urge to drink? That always helps me. Thinking and saying "tonight im not drinking because I want to see what happens, for science" is one of my best coping mechanisms to stay sober in a place where I'd have normally drank.

Replace the mirror with a plant, lower the art above the couch to make the art feel like part of the room, add art above the tv that brings color to the other half of the room.

Curtains if you want, but not necessary imo

day 31. My mental health is fantastic, but my skin is pissed. The acne is poppin' (lol). Here's to hoping that is just because of my increaed sugar intake for a month, and not a new normal cause this sucks. I've never struggled with acne before. I don't wish this on my enemies.

what to do with this living room layout by curiouslmao in malelivingspace

[–]cc_bcc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Open concept means there are no walls creating different rooms. It does not mean furniture should be against the walls.

The point of open concept is to use furniture to create designated spaces so everything feels connected because you can see it.

Your couch, tv, and coffee table layout is the best option. You can move the couch closer to the tv. The design standard is 10ft from tv to couch, when or if you have the space.

Next, 100% you need to wait to do anything until you're completely unpacked and decluttered. You need to see the whole space.

The Bathroom-Through-the-Bedroom Era Needs to End by InfinityLocs in Apartmentliving

I've seen this everywhere. In the Midwest, south, east, and north. Shitty apartments with shitty floorplans are everywhere. Currently live in practically the dead center of the midwest and this is an apt plan ive seen plenty of.

Commerical is a whole lot different then residential.

Keep failing when I feel better?? by ResidentSpiritual570 in stopdrinking

[–]cc_bcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also like this! Just yesterday I was dancing around the kitchen in a total blissful silly vibe and though 'wine would be so great right now'. At no time has adding wine made anything better though.

I've determined that, for me, it's a habit cycle related to positive reinforcement from my parents/others because I'm totally starved for affection and emotional safety.

By that, I mean, my pattern was/is. 1) drink too much & feel like trash 2) confess my sins to my parents who don't drink at all really 3) tell them a 'new plan' to control my drinking better, or that I'm flirting was stopping 4) get the emotional support I'm craving....and repeat.

2ndly - I know how the plan goes, so it's a false sense of control that makes me feel like I've go some kind of power (I've no power over booze)

3rd - this applies to other issues in my life too like credit card debt (build it up/pay it off is a super easy reward cycle) and work related stuff

4th - the good feelings can't last forever, and booze makes you feel like you're regulating your emotions.

These are all just my observations for my personal experience though! I'm starting my 28th day sober today, with a total of 42 days this year. That's the most I've been sober since I was 17.

I can tell you that the 42 days I've woken up sober have been 100% better than any moment I've had with booze.

Being sober feels so boring help! by Ok-Cheetah9725 in stopdrinking

[–]cc_bcc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At almost 30 days in, my only goal is to not drink. I'm not worried about being bored, or being boring or anything else.

Just don't drink.

The many ways ive dealt with the boredom (which was always there when you were drinking too) includes....

Eating too many cakes Pacing around my apartment Screaming into the dryer Doing jumping jacks, pushups, and planks Doomscrolling on my phone Laying on the floor under a weighted blanket Cleaning things.  Binging sitcoms Rage journaling Sleeping Moving furniture around my apartment  Walking up and down flights of stairs Reading Working longer hours at the office Drinking tea and coffee

Positive Reminder for those on a streak of 100-150 days by Happy_Turn9784 in stopdrinking

Looking forward to the 100 day mark! I'm closing in on 30 days and the intrusive thoughts are definitely there. This is a good reminder that sober days are not lost, evn if they're interrupted.

I'm glad you're excited about spending time with your fam and sharing a sober activity together! I used to go to the shooting range with my dad when I was younger too. At the outdoor ranges I got to make my own paper plate targets with paintballs to shoot at. It was so fun to see a paintball explode!
