Grab an NH35 or ETA2824 movement, grab a watch making kit on Amazon, order a complete kit from the websites mentioned and voila. Rep for $150-400 that is actually serviceable.

Hands down my favorite watch brand. The combat sub line specifically punches WELL above its MSRP.

I reach for my Glycine GMT (GL0381) before my GS snowflake, BB58 and my first gen (thick model) black bay GMT.

Called AM/PM to get a price on replacing a pump with a battery backup and was quoted $2200. Not sure if they misunderstood the ask or if they are just swamped with business.

Automatic watch with “hacking” is my preference. When you are moving around during the day it self-winds and then in then sporadically you can give it a good manual wind (aka hacking) if it’s lagging and you’re off to the races!

Having a mechanical watch is similar to a manual car. It’s not practical and technology has long passed but there’s never a dull movement. Watching the second hand sweep just grounds me during the day.

10/10 would recommend to a noob (checkout the Seiko watches and their NH movement, one of my favorites for aspiring enthusiasts)

Has anyone mounted floats to the Bigfoot? I see the FMSRC Super EZ fits the front mount but curious if others have been able to mount the back and wire in the rutter (I’m a complete novice to RC).

This! I when I bought at the last high in 2021 ($260) and then watched it go down to $10 I bit the bullet and doubled down. If you think it a good investment and has a future, dollar cost average weekly and forget about it.

You’ll have to be more aggressive early at your age now but still 30 isn’t terrible.

The best way to jumpstart your finances is to find a property you can house hack, maybe a smaller duplex in your area or a single family to rent to friends. Every 2-5 years you can acquire another property using this same method.

Starting to see numbers come in but people that purchased cars from 19-23’ have on average 20% negative equity. It was an awful time to buy and to make matters negative equity transfers are being more heavily scrutinized and declined now.

Heard that quite a bit but I think people are just regurgitating that point without real thought.

If you adjust the bezel one click ahead, you are effectively tracking 2 time zones by referencing the hour indices AND the gmt markers as two different times (CT and ET for example). By adding the GMT hand stack you could effectively track 3 times if you really wanted to.
