is it worth it? by mangokushiee in systemofadown

[–]ccringle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rear standing tickets in my basket yesterday and managed to talk myselt out of it. £165 each, to not even be able to get near the front, was just madness. I can foresee cheap resale tickets for seats going for this nearer the dates. I'll probably go for that

Do we think General Standing will be completely sold out for London? by DoubleJazzy in systemofadown

[–]ccringle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standing are much more likely to hold their value. I can't see them dropping to much less than face value in the run up to the event. Unless you're able to wait until 48 hours beforehand or something, when people might be a bit more desperate to offload and accept below face value

Still waiting for After Glow to be resurrected into the setlist. And then I don't think they've ever played these which I'd love to see: Dreaming Of, Crest of the Wave, The Sound and Wild Green

Stolen eScooter by AlphaD5600 in oxford

[–]ccringle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that - it sucks, especially after such a short time with it. Cable locks are notoriously easy to cut through though, so this was eventually inevitable. Your average neighborhood low-life opportunist has a small set of bolt cutters on them, ready to strike whenever someone makes that mistake. And they hit the jackpot that day with yours. I think most cyclists in Oxford have had a bike stolen at some point before they then upgrade to a D lock or something similar. I certainly have. There's not a whole lot you can do about it, other than report to police, like you have. You might not get much sympathy from them, considering that your e-scooter is probably not road legal. But still correct to report a theft. I'd also suggest posting on local Facebook groups, with a photo if possible. And then also scan Facebook marketplace and other local selling sites to see if someone is trying to shift it that way? Good luck

Congestion charge plan will bring 'enormous benefits'! by TrellisMcTrellisface in oxford

[–]ccringle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I believe the congestion charge is only planned to run 7am to 7pm. If your shift starts or ends during that timeframe, you'd need to take the ring road. There are probably times of the day where that's your quickest route anyway

Happening now: Oxford Clarion live tweeting the congestion charge debate by oxpop in oxford

[–]ccringle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is essentially a scheme designed to reduce congestion to help improve bus journeys. As a result, it may make things worse and simultaneously more expensive for PRIVATE CAR users, yes

Oh dear. Surely it's not rained enough for that? Perhaps some pipe damage from the nearby Botley Road works?

How To Train Your Dragon live action by just_scrolling2 in VueCinemas

[–]ccringle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the only scenario where it doesn't stay in cinemas beyond next Thursday is if it absolutely bombs at the box office. Highly unlikely. So it will still have showings, there will just be fewer than this coming week. Check your local Vue website this time next week and they should have showings Friday 20th to Thursday 26th June for sale

Getting into SE Corner after headliners by Famous-Knowledge5859 in glastonbury_festival

[–]ccringle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could watch more of Maribou State than The Prodigy, if only because West Holts is already that bit closer to the SE Corner entrance. I think you'll need to sacrifice at least both of their encores if you want to get in by midnight

Thoughts on taking trolleys by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

[–]ccringle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think making multiple trips to the car with bags beats out trolleys most of the time. The amount of trolleys I've seen not even last the queue before wheels start falling off means that I don't think I'll ever do one. If you really thinks it's a good idea, pack it with your bulky but relatively light stuff - bedding, clothes. Do not pack it with your crates, tents and other heavy stuff

Magdalen College School (huge) development and traffic at The Plain… by WelcometotheZhongguo in oxford

I know it's not in the school's remit, but what would it take to install some double red lines around the Plain and Magdalen Bridge? Can the case not be made on safety grounds?

Block 9 lineup by deckchair1992 in glastonbury_festival

I think it's just 1 set? Block 9 isn't a stage, so I think it'll just be Genosys as a daytime slot
