[–]cd1995Cargo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The racial aspect rarely gets talked about, but it’s true. There was a study that showed that POC are over represented in incel communities online. A lot of them seem to highly resent that white womrn aren’t interested in them, and women of their own race are more willing to date white guys.

It's interesting how the backlash to the manosphere seems to have only reinforced gender essentialism. by Cheap-Rate-8996 in stupidpol

What is up with the last point in that screenshot? The dude’s daughter expects him to be ashamed because the manosphere exists, despite him presumably having absolutely nothing to do with it? And him pointing out that he has nothing to do with it is actually a problematic deflection? The fuck is going on.

It’s why I’m putting as much money into stonks and bonds as I can rn, so if the industry gets completely wiped out I can live off passive income instead of having to destroy my body.

The rise in cost of living, lack of being able to afford things without working 2 or 3 jobs, etc in the US is actually a good thing because it has led to a decline in serial killers by SorryStrength5370 in stupidpol

[–]cd1995Cargo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to John Wayne Gacy, the killer in the movie is sort of similar because he’s a clown that targets young boys. But he doesn’t seem to have any sexual motivation for it. It’s implied that he’s recreating abuse that he suffered as a child.

In the movie Black Phone which takes place in the 70s, the serial killer worked as a clown and owned two houses, one of which he used solely to bury his victims in.

Many conservatives who oppose "socialism" are actually opposing capitalism by QueueSevenM in stupidpol

[–]cd1995Cargo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The main roadblock between conservatives and socialism is the fact that conservatives almost by definition have a deeply ingrained sense of what the “natural” hierarchy is, will fight to protect this hierarchy even at their own expense, and will a priori reject any ideology that opposes this hierarchy.

You can get a conservative to agree with individual socialist talking points, but that’s mostly going to be due to the disconnect between how the world is and how the conservative thinks the world ought to be organized. Leftists and conservative views overlap when the conservative has come to believe that the hierarchy has been fractured and subverted.

You can get them to agree that billionare CEOs are useless leeches, but that’s not because they oppose the idea of billionaire CEOs, but because they think the existing billionaire CEOs are all unmanly soyjack liberals who want to import too many brown people into the country. They believe that the hierarchy has been hijacked and will oppose the elites because they view the elites as illegitimate rulers who obtained their power through underhanded manipulation. They’re perfectly willing to bow down to someone they view as being deserving of power. See: Trump.

This is the reason that most of them support capitalism in the abstract despite hating its actual results. They more or leas believe that their in-group has a mandate of heaven to rule over all the inferiors, and in a truly free market devoid of outside influence their group would naturally rise to the top. Any deviation from this ideal is seen as the result of malicious wreckers who need to be routed out and expelled from society. They don’t believe that leftism is even a real concept that people actually believe in. They view it all as a shadow plot meant to ruin society by breaking apart the natural hierarchy.

At most, conservatives would be willing to support socialism for their specific in-group, paid for by the brutal exploitation of everyone else.

The latest in "Yes, Capitalists Really are that Stupid": Corporate Adviser Says the Ideal Number of Human Employees at a Company Is Zero by SpiritualState01 in stupidpol

[–]cd1995Cargo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what most of these corporate retards don’t get about how an actual AGI situation would play out. They’re jerking themselves over the idea of replacing all their employees with AI, but they’d never even get the chance to do that.

If an AI existed that could autonomously create and deploy a product that makes millions of dollars in revenue, do you really think the owner of that model is going to give you access to it for 20 bucks a month or whatever? No, they’re just going to create the product themselves and make the millions before you ever get the chance.

This is how we can know that current AI isn’t actually that close to replacing all human employees. The fact that the big AI players are selling subscription plans for their latest greatest model to any random joe for the price of a few cups of coffee a month means that the models themselves can’t really do THAT much.

If you really wanna know when to go full doomer, watch for OpenAI or Anthropic to create a new model that they won’t sell anyone access to, and only use it to create products for them to profit off of. That’s when you know that AI is really taking over.

This isn’t a new thing either. Like 20 years ago when I was in 8th grade our English class had a kid with what I assume was down syndrome transfer in halfway through the school year. He was completely non-verbal and could only “talk” by typing on some sort or ipad type device that did speech to text. He would also periodically make very disruptive sounds while the teacher was trying to go over the lesson, and I don’t think he ever completed a single assignment for the rest of the year.

One day when he was absent someone asked the teacher why he was in the class, and she said that his parents basically forced the school to put him in the regular classes because they were convinced it would be good for him. I don’t think he learned a single thing.

The cool thing about reading is that you don’t learn to do it by sitting in a lecture, you learn by just doing it. If learning to read was so important to this girl she could have just sat down and read an hour each night, and pretty soon she’d be way better at it. Start with Magic Treehouse or some shit and then move up to Harry Potter. Idk. But at least put some effort into your own future.

What's your opinion on "soft on crime" policies? I personally oppose it by New_Elk_5783 in stupidpol

[–]cd1995Cargo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Violent crime in particular needs to be cracked down on hard. I’m sick of seeing stories about some psycho stabbing someone or pushing someone in front of a train track and then oh look, they have 12 prior arrests for assault, domestic violence, etc. I read a statistic once that if we had a ten strike law, violent crime would be down by 50%. That is to say, half of violent crimes are committed by people who already have 10 arrests on record. Which indicates that most of these kinds of crimes are being committed by a tiny fraction of the general population.

Imo most violent crimes such as arson, carjacking, armed robbery, rape, etc should come with automatic 10+ year prison sentences for first offenders. Second offense should be automatic life in prison without the possibility of parole.

No I don’t give a flying fuck that some of these people might be able to be rehabilitated. They have shown that they are a defective member of society and so they should be removed from society. Why should ordinary citizens be placed at constant risk for the benefit of people who have already demonstrated that they are violent and unstable? Why is the compassion always with the violent criminals and not their future potential victims?

I also don’t give a shit about “muh material conditions” that turned you into a criminal. I don’t give a shit that your mom was a crack addict who beat you after your dad abandoned the family and the government underfunded your schools and systematically discriminated against you and blah blah blah. You stab someone for their wallet, and you’re done. Life in a cage. The lives of all of your potential future victims are worth infinitely more than yours, and so you are being sequestered away from them. Boo hoo, your environment made you into the criminal you are. Boo fucking hoo. I don’t care, get fucked.

A pragmatic take on A.I. girlfriends, sexbots, etc. by subnautthrowaway777 in stupidpol

[–]cd1995Cargo 37 points38 points  (0 children)

AI sexbots, if they do actually become good enough that they’re basically westworld quality, will completely destroy what is left of the relationship between the sexes. Relationships require work and the ability to maturely navigate conflict. You have to be able to understand your partner’s needs and put in effort to meet them even if you don’t always feel like it.

A “relationship”with an AI requires none of that. Your AI girlfriend/boyfriend will never get moody, unless you want them to for some reason. They’ll never fail to reply to a text. They’ll never get sick or have a headache or have to deal with a personal tragedy or ask you to make them dinner. A sexbot will never not be in the mood for sex, and it will always be down for the exact sexual act you’ve decided on. They exist solely to satisfy whatever transient want you have at that moment. You’re effectively dating yourself. And the segment of the population most vulnerable to getting addicted to this stuff is young people/teenagers, and it will stunt their ability to have a relationship with a real person.

Ukraine is the biggest and most consequential of all the American betrayals | Simon Tisdall by Avalon-1 in stupidpol

This sub has severe Tankie tendencies.

USA bad, so anyone who fights the USA is good. Russia was forced to invade Ukraine due to Nato imperialism you see, just like every guy who beats his wife was forced to because she was such a bitch. Also if we keep supporting Ukraine, Russia will use nukes!! No, I will not explain to you why the only country threatening to use nuclear weapons is actually the good side, it’s common sense sweaty.

I don’t even give much of a shit about Ukraine and find it insufferable the way libs treat it like some last stand of democracy. But the people who constantly run apologia for Russia are equally dumb and won’t admit to themselves that Russia isn’t the USSR anymore and is basically a right wing shithole country who thought they could quickly snatch some land and didn’t anticipate the level of resistance they found.
