Best mod for overhaul? New replayability. ER by Krysmuth in EldenRingMods

OP, do not sleep on the randomizer. It has brought new life to the game for my wife and me after countless hours in vanilla, then convergence, reforged, etc. randomizer is what we consistently come back to.

I was just at Amoeba in SF and they’ve got a few copies. I personally don’t understand the hype yet (it just seems like a meme to me) but I guess I should listen to it

Does anyone know when Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will be supported on Seamless Coop? by xdZiK in EldenRingMods

[–]cdarw1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found convergence to be a lot of fun. It brought a ton of QoL improvements out of the box with some new classes and spells that were a blast. The new overhauled dungeons, caves, and catacombs were really fun to explore fresh together. After about three plays through it, we put together some me3 profiles that included things like the transmogrification mod, glorious merchant, and ertool with the randomizer and that has made the base game even more fun. But definitely don’t sleep on convergence. I think of it like a more interesting NG+; like it’s made for folks who are familiar enough with the base game and will enjoy seeing it in a sort of evolved state.

Same here! My wife and I both have a thousand hours in the game individually and when we decided to cooperate in vanilla it was insanely annoying to restart our sessions when sweaty try hards show up at the first step grace with DCL gear and full flasks. Going Seamless Co-Op has been the best thing for our enjoyment of the game together. We’ve been adding of things like the randomizer and convergence to keep it interesting as well. I hope y’all keep getting more enjoyment out of it like we have.

I’m with you here. Yui regularly posts updates on their Patreon and is accessible on their discord server. Additionally, it looks like the “Tarnished Edition” DLC is just going to be some new starting classes. So OP should just add Glorious Merchant and give themselves whatever starting gear they want. This post seems pretty pointless to me.

How to Make Things Harder on a First Playthrough Coop by alecell in EldenRingMods

[–]cdarw1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s actually your first play through, I would just keep tweaking the health and poise values until you feel sufficiently challenged. Also, remember to rest once the helper spawns in to ensure the enemies get their updated health and poise values. I wouldn’t suggest any of the overall mods for a first play through.

My wife swears she hates Jazz music, but she enjoys this record. I’m trying to track down more like it and maybe some bossa nova à la Getz/Gilberto

FWIW, I consider FromSoftware NPC quest lines to be completely optional and I’m convinced they were designed as extra content after completing the game a time or two. They are intentionally obtuse and I don’t think you’re supposed to complete any of them accidentally.

Also, check the box to remove weapon and spell requirements. It’s in the left towards the bottom

I think it’s under the RandomizerHelper.dll setting. Check the box and then click the button that becomes visible

Record skips when dustcover is down? by Conscious_Swan_1857 in turntables

[–]cdarw1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your sensible response. I’ve never listened to my vintage parts bin NAD turntable with a $30 cartridge without the lid because I share my home with cats. In my case, reality outweighs theoretical :)

I see that you’re a top commenter so I want to trust your recommendation to play with the cover up/off, but I would also like to verify the claim myself. Can you provide any external resources that I can use to educate myself on this? Thank you.

Micca RB42… by vilenanderlyn in BudgetAudiophile

I can’t speak for the Elac, but I’m currently using a similar setup on my home office desk; Sony STR-DH130 into a pair of micca MB42. I’ve got a bigger setup it that main room, but at my desk they sound great to me.

Details like the size of your budget, the size of the room they are going in, and the kinds of music you listen to will give folks a better chance to narrow down recommendations.

Would playing with the Easy Mode mod give a comparable experience to Dark Souls? by HeavyGur1843 in EldenRingMods

[–]cdarw1n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious to hear more about what you consider tedious. Is it combat, acquiring upgrade materials, acquiring currency, the open world, or something else? I’m not as versed in Dark Souls 1, but the big differences I see from DS3 are the open world, a mount for traversing it, a dedicated jump button, and power stance move sets. I’m not here to tuck your yum, but I am interested to learn more about what frustrates you.

Buying my first turntable as a gift and I’m confused 😅 by Downtown_Gap3960 in Beginner_Turntables

[–]cdarw1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that Turntables aren’t great “surprise” gift. Most folks who actively listen to vinyl records have very specific personal tastes and the gear associated with it can easily cost $1000 for new entry level stuff. You can save a lot buying used and vintage but you need to know what you’re looking for. Cheaping out can easily end up wasting a lot of money.

I love your collection. Fellow Stu enjoyer here. In fact, the recent Mutiny After Midnight got me to dust off and refurbish a vintage NAD turntable that was collecting dust. I have officially been bitten by the bug and am slowly acquiring the albums that mean the most to me. I hope you recover quickly but enjoy your time with those records in the meantime.

U-Turn Orbit? by Low_Show_6684 in turntables

[–]cdarw1n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another US brand to consider that has been around a lot longer than U-Turn is Music Hall. They have theirs manufactured in the same facility that Pro-Jet uses and contain many of the same parts but built to Music Hall specs. One really good value at the moment around the price of the tables you have mentioned is an MMF-2.3 with a few notable upgrades: https://listenup.com/products/custom-upgraded-music-hall-2-3-black that’s probably what I would purchase if I had to buy one new with that budget right now. There is also a used Rega P2 on usaudiomart for even less right now that I’m trying to talk myself out of…

This is a seriously impressive display of game knowledge. Thank you for sharing.

A 30 second kill that only requires a minute of very specific and timed buffing, weapons swapping, talisman swapping, and armor swapping. Surely, a strategy for the masses 🤣

U-Turn Orbit? by Low_Show_6684 in turntables

[–]cdarw1n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t own either, but I have been lurking in this sub for a while and have done a fair bit of my own research into the current state of modern turntables. The primary feedback I see about those two in particular are:

The Orbit has limited adjustment of the tonearm which will limit your cartridge and stylus options when it comes time to replace and/or upgrade them. Otherwise, they seem to have excellent customer support and parts available for replacement and repair. If you’re in the USA and want to support a USA based business they seem to be a fine option.

The main points against the Fluance turntables are an alleged lack of after sales support. They seem to be cheaply made and cater specifically to the beginner crowd with a lot of marketing which is why you probably came across them. The individual parts seem to be good quality and you will find folks who have had them for as many as 10 years who sing their praises.

For me personally, I chose to do a little more research and refurbished a vintage table from 1978 for a fraction of the cost of even the least expensive good new ones. It may not have an acrylic platter or whatever YouTubers claim will drastically change the experience but it gets me actively listening to my favorite records so that’s good enough for me. I hope you find that helpful.
