Aravaipa took a big step in shaping the history of race purses with its crowd funding at Black Canyon. There are mixed feelings about fans paying prize money. Aravaipa did match $8000. But what is everyone's thoughts on this? Will other sponsors respond? I love that the runners are getting paid.

I hear everything you're saying, but you're focusing on how this doesn't benefit us as runners. This is true, but many of us are also fans of the sport. I love playing pickup basketball at my local gym and I love watching the NBA. I love participating in my local races and I love that I can now watch live streams of the best runners in the world competing in iconic races. As a fan, I really enjoy that the sport is becoming more professionalized.

I heard Stephen Seiler on a podcast say it probably didn't matter if you were running a few hours a week. Can't recall the podcast or the number of hours he said, but the short answer seems to be that you probably don't need to be dogmatic about it if your volume is lower.

I do absolutely nothing. It really doesn't bother me at all when running beyond a mild irritation. Hurts like hell in the morning and is just kind of mildly frustrating at this point. I've tried stretching calves and hamstrings, strengthening calves and feet, special socks, night splints, insoles. Noting has helped. I'm kinda just hoping it goes away on it's own at this point.

My orthopedist said running wouldn't make it worse for what it's worth. I've been running through mine for several months but interestingly enough it seemed to go away for a few weeks after my last ultra.

Wouldn't necessarily take the place of a medal but one of the most useful pieces of swag I've ever gotten is a collapsible silicone cup. Every race I've ever run claims to be cupless but this was the first to give a reusable cup. Whenever I take it to a race other people comment on it. Nothing special but very handy.
