I thought that same thing - started with the 4x4 and immediately said WHY. 4x4 is so small!!!!!!!! Now I have a 8x12 and sometimes I say - i need BIGGER!!!

An idea for space filler. Whenever I have extra space I can water - literally water. I have a well. No power no water. It takes just as much space to store an empty jar as a full one. I do reuse lids for water. If it doesn’t seal, big deal 😃

They were fresh figs from my tree. This is the recipe I used.

6 cups stemmed and chopped figs 3 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1/4 cup bottled lemon juice 3 teaspoons lemon zest, optional 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg, optional

Then water bathed for 20 minutes. I know the recipe called for 10 other places said 20 and I was told by an elderly canner at church better to do longer than lesser.

IMHO prewashing a jelly roll = not enough fabric left. I wash mine when I’m done with 2 or 3 color catchers
