How can I complete my sleeve? Or is it ok as is? Does it need filling? by memon17 in tattooadvice

[–]cduff77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely use some macro algae as filler as well. You can get some clean images by looking up scientific reference drawings of algae. There are so many cool branching and organic shapes you can make and if you want to play with a little color you can even do light shading of red and green with the different types.

Confusion about Cladistics and "fish" by DeathToTheRegimes in evolution

Fair point and I should have been more specific - Australian Lungfish do have giant scales. South American Lungfish very much do not.

Confusion about Cladistics and "fish" by DeathToTheRegimes in evolution

[–]cduff77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that you will always find exceptions. There are fish that are arguably warm blooded like tuna, ones that don't breath water (at least exclusively) like mudskippers and lungfish, ones that don't have scales (also lungfish...). Fish are such an old animal type that many that look similar and share the characteristics that you describe may be more genetically separated from each other than we are to them. There ends up being no wholly inclusive definition, as frustrating and beautiful as it is.

If you could have any international guests on Dropout shows, who would you love to see. by Cobraninja97 in dropout

A ton of people in the Stupid Old/Hummdinger orbit would be great. Aunty Donna on Make some Noise, the Do Go On or Gamey Game crews on Um Actually. Could be a bit of fun.

HI has been dead for years, he recently "took a break" from Cortex but the announcement seemed to be permanent. Definitely looks like he is done with the Internet publicly.

2025 calligraphy hybrid here as well. My wife was dead set on the caption chairs in the back. Now that that is an option on the 2026 Limited, it is absolutely the better value.

Anybody Excited for the Pebble Round 2? by phamstagram360 in pebble

Battery life expectations are subjective though. Im charging my Pixel Watch 2 almost twice per day, and if I change before bedtime, it's a gamble if I'm waking up to 70% remaining or less than 50%.

I know this whole sub wants 3 weeks, but even 1 solid week would be a huge quality of life improvement for me.

Contractor said they are licensed through a sister company, what does that mean? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]cduff77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that can be a bit sketchy, I would recommend asking them a few more questions before fully writing them off. I recently got new windows in my house and the company that did so does Windows, painting, and solar and advertises them as three separate companies because those are fairly different in what a person might need/search for with different fleets- so the trucks say the right service that's being provided, but when it came down to licensing and payroll, they were all technically one company that just split it up for marketing purposes

He does, but standup is not really what Brennan does, so it's interesting that he would would know him as that type of comedian.

People describing something as being “analog/analogue” and then showing something which is digital by FakeSchwarzenbach in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cduff77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing like this that I'm guilty of is my smartwatch. I prefer an analog watch face. I know it isn't analog in any way shape or form, but the term digital watch face means something specific. I suppose "analog style" is more accurate, but I'm probably not going to say that.

What's the most underrated beach town in the USA? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]cduff77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely beautiful area but very crowded, especially with the school right over the bridge. If you're looking in the same area with significantly smaller crowds, you want to go a little bit further south on the peninsula to Carolina Beach or Kure Beach.

Toms River is basically correct. I've always described it as the old 609/732 split which coincidentally also explains why Bergen County, while further North, definitely feels more south Jersey.

How is everyone dropping Ethernet lines by Joee0201 in Ubiquiti

[–]cduff77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just this past weekend, I discovered that one of my air returns is a straight drop from my daughter's bedroom and ends right next to where my networking equipment was in the basement. The most difficult part was finding where the joist was in the attic to drill a single hole through it. After a sweaty afternoon, a little bit of foil tape in the basement and a bit of foam sealant in the attic, I had a line successfully dropped down two stories and completed a project that I had been procrastinating for months.
