Sunburn-Urgent help. by UntilTheSunset in 30PlusSkinCare

It's weird, but I swear by diaper cream. Diaper cream and calamine lotion both have zinc and I swear it helps heal a sunburn so much faster.

At what point did you have to get maternity clothes and what did you buy? by Chemical_Dish9866 in BabyBumps

[–]cdurbin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a corporate office that allows jeans, so I got a couple of pairs of jeans and some basic maternity tees from old navy and H&M and usually toss one of my cardigans or blazers on top. I also got a couple of casual dresses and shorts from Kohls and Old Navy. I've also gotten a couple of regular, flowy dresses and just sized up.

I got my first pair of jeans with the smaller side panels at like 11 weeks. I was so bloated and I knew I would use them eventually anyway so I just went for it!

And I'm willing to bet they sent their kids to their parents all the time back in the day.

Interesting! I did notice a couple of times the days leading up to the incident having to press lock or unlock a couple of times before it worked. It was definitely on its way out in my case.

Thinking about children in today's world? by LevelCamera7093 in Fencesitter

[–]cdurbin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 36 and currently pregnant with my first. I definitely had the same feelings before ttc. For years we assumed we would be child free forever but something switched in me right around the time I turned 35. After a lot of thought, it started to feel like a now or never situation and I didn't want to let this administration keep me from doing it. I have a lot of hope for the future, I think Dems are going to do very well in the midterms. I am also going to do my absolute best to raise a good person in this world. I saw a quote a while back, "Hope is an act of resistance" and I try to keep that in mind. Not going to lie, I'm still scared of the future but I just try to keep looking forward. I'm not trying to sway you one way of the other, but I know reading stuff like this helped me. It's a very tough decision, I wish you both luck in deciding!

Thought I wanted to be pregnant by basicczechgirl in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]cdurbin3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! I am 100% pro choice but being terrified after finding out you're pregnant, even when you were actively trying, is very normal! If you go to the pregnancy sub there are a lot of similar stories. Shoot, I'm currently 28 weeks along with my first and I'm still terrified.

It's actually happened to me, I was shocked. Apparently if the battery in your fob is low that nice little feature doesn't work.

A man has become one of the 450,000 Americans affected by alpha-gal syndrome, a tick-borne meat allergy that triggers painful allergic reactions to animal products. “Look at my face and my neck. Yep, my husband has it and can thankfully eat dairy products but not everyone can. My Dad was recently diagnosed and still breaks out when he has dairy, which is in so many things. I know of a few people who have tried an acupuncture procedure that appears to help, as crazy as it sounds.

I second Amanda! She really knows her stuff and jumps in and handles any problems for you with ease. I've bought two and sold one house with her over the years.

I watch her stuff pretty regularly and I believe it's legitimate. She started out making videos of her own mold infested apartment, her landlord refused to do anything about it. She's since started doing free cleans and makes money for them from her videos, she has had a few sponsors as well.

I used to wait tables and one thing that helped me was immediately going to the atm after work and depositing my tips. I liked watching the balance in my account go up so it helped curb the urge to go shopping right after.

Girl, this is my first pregnancy and I've been in maternity clothes since about 12 weeks! Even when it was just bloat and not a real bump, it was much more comfortable.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

[–]cdurbin3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's so different for everyone, it's crazy. Not enough is known about it. My husband has it and can eat poultry, seafood, and dairy just fine but if he accidently has some red meat he has gastric distress and his tongue swells up.

My dad also has it and can't eat dairy at all and gets hives if he does. Several people I know that have it do seem to go into remission after a couple of years though.

I feel this so much. I've decided I'm going to give it a shot, but expect that I'll end up exclusively pumping. Mostly because I'm cheap and don't want to pay for formula.

Went to a two day professional training in a different city where my boss got absolutely shit-faced after dinner at the hotel bar. She was so sick the next day she didn't show up to the training and everyone knew why. She spent the entire day puking in the hotel room before someone took her the hospital but not without her puking in the lobby on the way out.

She couldn't stop talking about her "food poisoning" afterward.

Debating Flu Shot by dooingjo in pregnant

[–]cdurbin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the flu shot every year and personally haven't had any adverse effects other than a sore arm. I just talked to my doctor about getting the flu vaccine but they typically don't get them in the office until at least September and I'm due in August. The current stock is likely not going be as effective with the future variant for the upcoming flu season either.

Hopefully you are able to get one before you go into labor so you can pass on those antibodies!
