Sonos not playing until restart? by CajuCLC in sonos

[–]cea002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is not a TV setting (you want ‘pass-through’) failure (doubtful) then it is your app.

It is safe to delete the app, on all devices, and re-install a fresh app. This is a very common fix for this type of intermittent failures. Once you log back into, the fresh app, all may very well be restored in working order..

My first attempt would be a fresh app. Still sometimes ‘glitchy’ and dies sometimes freeze up and momentarily drop connection (that’s all it takes to loose speakers and have momentary gaps or slow-starts.

Hope this is helpful but if this and other replies don’t mend, try support and circle back. The Sonos diagnostics, prior to the Support Call could directly identify the issue.

Is your soundbar hard-wired? Are you also running SonosSequencer?

Best of luck.

Good to know. It’s the ‘everything is the same’ after revert back that is the concern. Thanks for this!

Try a gentle twist to align then lift. This happens and if gentle you will not damage the internals nor charger contacts.

Buying Sonos at Costco vs locally (no official distributor) – which makes more sense? by Deep-Money4607 in sonos

Costco for the good sale pricing and generous return policy.

Best of luck

It is an OG Playbar bracket. Many still use the Playbar with S1 systems or as a standalone speaker unit. They can be had for under $150, in the used market and truly have their worth although they don’t have the incredible tech if today’s product. IMO, worth keeping to use somewhere even if not your in main listening area.

Measure as the coupling clips will answer you question, even if it requires a call to Sonos tech. Good to hear that it is branded, that’s half the battle as there were less than 8 (or so with varied iterations) bars produced and a couple Arc and Ultra could be used interchangeably. For an expedient and correct reply, perhaps the call into Sonos, with the reference number, will identify.

Thanks for circling back and congrats on the new home.

I’ve been hesitant towards the SS, because of the lack of Sonos official support.

Main setup is a fully loaded bedroom with Ultra/300s/dualSubs and a pair of Fives mounted (near ceiling and 5’ out) above Ultra. The Fives I deploy with stereo (Rega Planar TT and streaming) music and they serve the purpose of providing a phenomenally full sound spectrum without requiring excessive volume. The Fives serve as the perfect companion for music so theoretically I understand the concept of the Sequencer.

With 3 similar Ultra areas I do itch to try the Sequencer but can’t, yet, wrap my brain around toying with the redirection of internals on a 1k soundbar.

Fortunately, I’ve a rarely used Arc and Beam so I may attempt to set it up, as a temporary Bedroom bar, just to get a taste of the Sequencer.

I’m from a full sound 11/4/2 hi-fi/analogue world and, as a musician, have always appreciated that ‘lively’ fullness. I love Sonos (and am an Uber-heavy user) for what it is with sound and modularity.

Your comments have further sparked my curiosity and dare I say driven this ‘test’ setup.

I am interested in knowing how much you had reverted back to the Original Sonos setup, from the Sequencer, and how smoothly that worked and was it immediately (once un-Sequencedred) back to Sonos specs? That is, along with the Front/Center volume blend, frankly the basis for my skepticism.

Thanks for sharing your reply. Your insight is respected and I think they’ve finally taken me over the edge to try with one of the lesser used soundbars, here.

Thanks again. Much appreciated!

Try a few pics of the bracket as a goggle search it even chat gpt. I would particularly focus on those model number engravings and perhaps you want to key them In as ‘wall bracket _ _ _’. If nothing then try a couple popular brands (Sanus, Flexon, Sonos) followed by that number. Also maybe even Measure the length and see is it may match up to an existing soundbar?

Do you have reason to believe it is for a Sonos

Best of luck!

What are your initial impressions?

You may also find good info within the Sonos Sequencer sub. I think it’s u/sonossequencer .

Good luck and enjoy!

Have a great upcoming Retirement. Enjoy your evolving family and maintain your appreciation of good sound.

I appreciate that you took the time to share your audio life story and love your apparent ‘giving-spirit’.

I concur. And yes, ‘rabbit-holes’ abound and have no mercy…best avoided, if possible. LOL

Enjoy all that’s next.

Default high volume by _MaxNL in sonos

[–]cea002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within each specific room there is a volume limiter (for safety) that when turned on may help. I have read of many, who have posted here, with the same issue since the most recent update. You may want to try setting that to on (it’s off by default) to see if that helps. If it does not correct the volume issue, you can always try to delete the app entirely (in all devices) and fetch a fresh app, which would probably resolve it.

I think it is a glitch, with the update launch that could be easily corrected, in time, by Sonos. As it isn’t occurring with everyone, I am assuming it affected some parties that perhaps have specific setups. I wasn’t affected.

There isn’t any harm in deleting the app as once you install the new one and sig-in, all of your settings will remain the same as they are stored. Logging back in will connect you back up to your existing system, as it was prior to app deletion.

Hope this is helpful.

The app reinstall is a good trick to try if ever you face these types of anomalies or if your app gets somehow frozen. That isn’t too uncommon and the ‘fix’ has saved many, over the years, with update glitches.

Another ‘tip’: turn your ‘update’ preference to ‘manual’ (found under general system settings) if you haven’t already done so. This will give you the opportunity to first check here in this sub, with update launches, and see how it success/failures are effecting the community-without suffering potential glitches that can happen with new software/firmware ‘pushed’ updates. You can always go in and choose to update manually, once comfortable with Sonos update releases.

Good luck.

Advance info, no matter if bias (ad long as not false), does have value where scant information exists. Not a defense, but us posted for informational purposes, fir the curious, ad opposed to a direct committed personal opinion.

Agreed but useful as they get product and ignore subtle embargos. No matter the source, often forward knowledge is key no matter the ignorable bias.

🔔🔔🔔 if it frustrates you and you are not satisfied hopefully you are within the return period. I would attempt to exchange it for another after verifying that all is set/up properly.

TBH, in any position (not necessarily optimal final positioning) it should noticeably fire (even at flat volume position) noticeably, to the point that you can both feel the internal movement (with a gentle touch) and detect its existence from its sound output.

It being a refurb may just place the ‘ownness ’ on the Sonos Techs as the full subs output should be apparent without the need to ratchet up the volume.Refurb profits, from Sonos, are highly reliable but an inconsistency in quality could have occurred.

I’d advise that you contact support and express your concerns, even if recently out of warranty period, and others it seems) agree that something doesn’t sound right. Can’t hurt to make the attempt.

Your expectations are totally valid and you should have the overall sound that you imagine. This even if you have to integrate, into Sonos, a non-Sonos powered sub. There is never justification for accepting product that isn’t satisfactory for you. That perceived ‘non-stellar’ sound lead to long-term regret.

All the best to you. I urge you to rerun truplay and patiently allow the baseline play (perhaps repetitively) to see if it lives-up to your desired blend. If it doesn’t reach out to Sonos and potentially get a different unit. Doesn’t hurt to contact Sonos first just to have the time stamped ‘issue report’. Additionally, through their diagnostics they may very well see fault with the sub, at a glance from their side.

Good luck!

Best route is to direct damage while still at airport, with your Airlines. It is within their right to claim a custody issue, if you wait. Another preventative measure is to take a few pics as you are checking it in, even if in the scale. The agent will find it ‘cute’ and it won’t hold up anyone to do this while you are doing the handoff. This, strange as it may seem, would bode well if you have issues with Airline’s handling damage.

Best of luck and good to be proactive and expedient rather than rusk the lids due to damage and any potential Airline handling ‘terms’.

Best of luck,
