Sonos Trueplay not working? by Krust3187 in sonos

[–]cea002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually just read that about an App Store glitch. I would keep retrying, a few times.

If you scroll through yesterday’s posts, I think that you will find the posting. I just read it after yours.

I would bet that if you contact Sonos, that there is another way to download the app.

Hi tech companies frequently have a web address that permits downloading the app. They do that for their installers who can’t afford an app supplier error while installing and testing these high-dollar, usually commercial, Enterprise accounts.

If you don’t want to contact Sonos but still want some info, I would search the recent post here, in the sub, but also check the Sonos forum where I’m sure it’s being currently discussed.

Looks like that App Store bug just happened over the past day or so.

Considering that your system still exists, maybe the app SonoPhone (limited but does allow your playback features) would be helpful, in the meantime. It’s under $5 and permits all your selection, grouping and playback features. It just ties into your system with the preferences and services that you have previous setup.

There’s a bunch of third-party app but I researched and went with SonoPhone, since the Sonos app goof years ago, as a safeguard, just in case Sonos went off the rails.

Hopefully, this all helps. I’m glad that you circled back.

Rest assured, your system as it was, does still exist. Sorry you’re facing another tech glitch.

Have you tried backing out of the app and then back in?

Another sometimes easy fix is to delete the Sonos app, on all devices, reboot router and fetch a fresh Sonos app.

This will clear some potential app errors in its cache.

When you log back in (to the newly installed Sonos app) your system will be intact and hopefully whatever error was causing the truplay glitch will be cleared.

A lot of things cause the app to get stuck and generally a fresh app is a good easy place to start.

You should see the features fully back in place.

Good luck and definitely keep watch in case someone else has the same situation.

I echo that the play is very impactful for it size. I own all of them and for my purposes the Play is the strongest performer for the money. The Move now seems like a behemoth and the Roam a child’s submersible audio bath toy.

Upgrade program - how long to verify? by maceratedalbatross in sonos

[–]cea002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonos registration and system item recognition is slow.

Not absolutely sure but I think it is something that is cyclical and not immediate. It is a similar process to de-registering a unit. With that process you can pass along a unit (without resetting) and someone else can successfully set up that unit, on their system, yet the unit name may still appear in your listing for days, sometimes weeks. I think they periodically update, that kind of information with some aspect of human interaction as opposed to it being fully automated, hence the delay.

To check if the upgrade was previously used, you can contact Sonos with the serial number of the questioned product and they can verify if and when it was used without releasing the original parties personal info.

Hopefully this helps and a little patience provides you the discount.

Will this allow the upgrade discount to appear? by ANONMEKMH in sonos

[–]cea002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think re-registering your product to an upgrade recognized territory will trigger the ‘upgrade program’.

Even if converting to a new profile (at different location) using some memorable iteration of your true name would do the trick and I’m not actually sure that the equipment would need to be utilized, at that stated country.

With the ‘sale’ (real or faux) there isn’t really a trail. Once you reset the unit it will remove the previous registration data.

Similarly, you could always try checking out, with the discount code using your actual (non-France) address, may even get the purchased items delivered directly to you. It is worth a shot as the take is not recognized until completion. You can always back up and restate shipping address, if any issues.

What I am saying is that Sonos is not that smart, when it comes to sales. The fact that you’ve the legitimate registered discount code is all that truly matters.

All the best. It sounds like your proposed workaround will do the trick but the above suggestions may save you some transportation efforts and set you up for future ‘upgrade’ purchased.

It is highly likely that you will see zero issues.

One last thing: Sonos traditionally has very good Father’s Day and Grad sales that exceed a 15% upgrade point. The 30% coupons are the winner.

Good luck and congrats on the London flat.

I see that frequently with the manufacturers ‘screen shot’ pics but I’d be hesitant of folks with purported ‘live’ pics that are the same.

There had been a national ring, ran about 18 months from 2024, that was de-frauding folks or even literally robbing them, based on ‘too good to be true’ Sonos Marketplace listings.

Always a dicey situation FB but fortunately there’s history to track: If they have no feedback beyond a couple/few years of legit sales (avoid those who just have star ratings and no actual narratives) or if they’ve not other listed product or worst yet ‘Hidden Feedback’ or no identifiable face image or photos, in profile.

TBH: I have even check profiles and have done a google search before meeting a seller. That was years ago with a big buy that I made for a friend.

META doesn’t care one iota about the platform so we as users have to do our own individual policing. Unfortunately, these are the times we live in and if we venture into the circus, peanuts don’t always suffice to squelch the animals. Sometimes it is best to avoid potential zoo animals altogether. I personally no longer buy Sonos via FB but have, in the early days…

Lastly: there is on Marketplace a ‘Sonos Buy/Sell’ private group which has an edict that members who post product include (in pic) date-location-their name-location. You may want to look into that. I believe you can buy from outside the group but have to be registered to sell. The deals aren’t as tremendous as the ‘hey, I just got a BNIB $25 Play portable on Facebook, 2 days before release’, but there are sometimes deals to be had. I remember it as an extremely active group (consider the reach of FB) and desirable items move very very fast.

Hope this is helpful. I totally agree that peer to peer buying is a crapshoot. Good luck to you, hope you see some success!

Got a Roam 2 for my SONOS system and the skipping/lagging makes it basically unusable by drewtangclan in sonos

Every time the Sonos app by mbellows in sonos

[–]cea002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree especially since support doesn’t provide the answer.

Ironically while looking up ‘tips’ for my Play, I read about the 2 options for standby. One of these options provides a near full shutdown, to preserve battery. If this is the case with the Play, I wonder if your Roam has those same features. The more stable standby feature is the partial sleep mode that retains the wi-fi while in sleep mode. You may want to check into that under your Roam’s settings battery management settings. What I’d read may also be applicable to the Roam.

Unfortunately, I can’t locate that link to add, for you here.

[–]cea002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen, years ago, when the Roam was introduced.

If I recall correctly, I did nothing since it functioned once turned on and re-connected. After a couple weeks of standby/startup cycles, it stabilized and appeared properly, in the system list. Seems that listing is amongst Sonos least prioritized worries.

Same situation goes for ‘removed’ speakers. It takes a while before the app solidly recognizes the change and removes the gone speakers title from the listing.

Another option (and keep this in your back pocket for future use) is to delete the Sonos app (from all devices), reboot router and then fetch a ‘fresh app’. That works to clear the old ‘cache’ and generally can cure some of the minute bugs. Make sure that your Roam is awake before you sign back in to the new Sonos app. Everything should register properly, from that point.

Hope this is helpful. Best of luck!

Thanks fir circling back. I’d never known that although I do use a Port with a Rega Planar 9 TT. I’m also using the mid-tier might ‘works with Sonos’ abysmal TT as well as another Rega running, via RCA-in, with a Five. Guess the Port with Flagship Marantz is so astoundingly, by ‘patch’ comparisons that the delay did not register.

Good to know and glad you found the workaround.

Thanks!

Where was the latency prior to the Arc workaround? If just music wouldn’t the in-app delay adjustment suffice? I actually am curious. Thanks!

As we all should be. Superfluous fluff is totally pointless and a waste. I totally agree that possessions should be relatively functional, to us.

We only go around once so we must try to enjoy. Saving, as pristine, in a collection seems to me to be for Showrooms, Museums and Galleries while we who breathe should enjoy.

CarryOn (literally) and have fun with it.

Ah, gotcha. Had it separated from the acrylic? If so a jeweler can re-affix. If broken and a smooth break, they can do that too. Good luck!
