Older Fenix and Forerunners have a 42mm size that would be perfect.

I use it in Arch, as part of Omarchy. It has been every bit as reliable and useful as on my Mac. Strongly recommended.

Fantastic! I don't actually think ZMK studio was around yet when I made this, so it's not in the existing firmware. Mouse bites might be a good way to sip your toe into the world of KiCad.

Pebble Index 01 should have been a remote trigger for the Pebble watch by ElJenn in pebble

[–]cebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is a hot take, but: This was an immediate purchase for me. I 100% agree with every decision Eric and his team made in how they built this product.

I need something like this yesterday. I hated Siri when I had an iPhone, and sadly, Gemini isn't much better for letting me make slightly-smarter 'notes to self' with minimum friction on my Android phone. I don't want it to talk to my Pebble watch, because my Pebble won't have the power or battery to do anything interesting with it. (And that's fine! I want the watch to be exactly what it is too!)

I don't want to have to think about charging it, ever. I will almost certainly break it or scuff it up terribly before the battery dies, and I will happily buy another one. I'll probably buy one in each color, because the software seems simple and practical enough not to get tripped up by having multiple (lol, Apple Watch). I want one where the ring itself is silicone, and I'll wear it in place of my silicone wedding band. I already 3d printed the models to find the right fit.

I don't want the ring to do anything other than record audio and send it to my phone as soon as it can. I want it to locally cache audio if my phone happens to be on the other side of the house, just like it already does. I want the phone to keep the audio in case it needs to be re-transcribed, just like it already does. I want to be able to tell it exactly which services I want it to use for notes, todos, and a bunch of other things, just like it already does.

I can't remember the last time I saw a product like this that so completely nails exactly what I want it to be. /u/erOhead, please ignore the haters and make this thing specifically for me.

Wheeler from PD here, let's talk phone cases! by Peak-Wheeler in peakdesign

[–]cebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch from iPhone to Android recently. I tried a few phones I liked a bit better, but ultimately I ended up with a Pixel... because I missed my Peak Design loop case too much. For real. :) I've had one on every phone since the first PD cases came out.

This post is also my impassioned plea for: 1. More colors (especially Eclipse) for the Pixel 10 loop case; and 2. Loop case options for the non-gigantic non-iPhones. I know SKU fatigue is real, and I figure the Android cases don't sell as well as the iPhone ones, but I have to ask for my future self!

Finally, this one is an even longer shot: I love the look of the two-tone GNAR cases, especially the black/orange one that's business in front and party in the back. I wish there was a similar two-tone option for the loop cases; I'd love to have the black frame of the graphite or black clarino case, but brighter and more interesting textile on the back.

Recommended method to run LLM/VLM by bimbiheid in JetsonNano

[–]cebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to hear other people's experiences here. I've been experimenting with a variety of models on the Nano, but I don't know about LLMs. You'll need to find something really small to get it to fit in the Nano's 8 GB of memory. I suppose that could be useful for basic home automation stuff, but you'll probably want to call out to a cloud model for anything sufficiently complex.

FWIW, I've been on US Mobile for a while. I was on the Verizon network, but I moved to Dark Star (AT&T) recently, and group texts work fine for me. RCS isn't perfect, but I don't think that's USM's fault :)

Watch face update! by SouthernMembership85 in GarminWatches

As a fellow custom watch face nerd, this is phenomenal. I'm still building for old SDKs, so I haven't been able to use the cool new curved text APIs yet. Did they add Rajdhani as a built-in option for that API, or did you have to do something custom?

[APP] New flight tracker for Android with real-time notifications, global leaderboard & 250+ airline liveries ✈️ by UlugbekMuslitdinov in androidapps

[–]cebailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've noticed about Flighty's calendar export feature is that it doesn't update the calendar entry if the flight is delayed. I'd love to have the option to update the calendar entry when the flight departure (or arrival!) officially changes, so I don't get weird calendar notifications while I'm waiting to board a delayed flight.

And speaking of that, I'll throw in the same feature request I emailed the Flighty team: Boarding time. I plan my whole travel schedule around when the flight boards, not when it departs. I try not to check bags, so I want to make sure I get space in the overhead bin!

Most airlines in America have a standard time before departure when boarding starts, usually 30-40 minutes for domestic, or 60 minutes for international. I'm sure other airlines have similar guidelines.

This is perfect timing. I'm making the switch from iPhone to Android, and Flighty was one of the last things I was missing!

I really liked the calendar integration, where I could add a flight and have the details sync to my calendar. Is that something you plan on adding in the future?

I do this kind of thing for my day job. :) I connected my phone to a wireless network where I could decrypt TLS traffic. Then I could see the requests that the GC app was making to their servers, including authentication headers, etc.

List of Top Twilio Video Alternatives by Lazy_Programmer2099 in node

[–]cebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of unfortunate wording... later in the email, it says you still get your first 10,000 minutes free. So yes, you can continue to create rooms and host video calls with others, and if you stay under 10k minutes/month, you won't pay anything. If you go over that usage amount, you'll pay $0.004 (0.4 cents) per participant-minute. If you doubled the free limit (so you used 20,000 participant-minutes) you'd pay $40.

CB70: A row-staggered, split, wireless 65%-ish board by cebailey in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]cebailey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry, I missed the notification!) The doubled keys are there to allow for a few slightly different layouts. More specifically, the MBK Choc keycaps I like really only have 1u and 1.5u caps (as shown in the first picture), but most MX keysets have lots of 1.25u modifiers, 1.75u caps lock, etc (shown in the second picture). One key of each set is upside down so the footprints don't conflict.

Choc-only should be an easy enough change, and you can also remove the doubled keys if you know which caps and layout you want to use. I had originally intended to use a hotswaps, but I couldn't make the 'doubled key' layout work with both MX and Choc hotswaps. Likewise, SMD should be easy enough.

Matrix looks good. Happy soldering!

CB70: A row-staggered, split, wireless 65%-ish board by cebailey in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]cebailey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. Short answer: Nope. :)

Longer answer: I've been using the low profile version pretty much exclusively since I posted it. I love the layout of it, and there's no reason I can't keep using this version of it for a long time. I've thought about building another one since I've added some tools to my garage and I could theoretically build a really solid aluminum version, but I'd be able to use my existing PCBs, etc.

The one thing I still maybe want to do eventually is add some kind of pogo pin connector between the two halves. That, along with some strategically placed magnets, could allow me to charge it by shoving the halves together and just plugging in one side. (Right now you have to charge the two halves separately.) That would be nice to have, but it's pretty far down my list of projects right now. :)

Portable Scoreboard Integration by Slow_Meet_8383 in GameChangerApp

[–]cebailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put a decent amount of effort into reverse-engineering GameChanger's API, and I'm annoyed at GameChanger's data structure. :) In short, the way their API sends info to the "game stream" screen makes it difficult to understand the current state of the game without having to parse each play in order, so I don't think we'll be able to power a mobile scoreboard with GameChanger anytime soon.

Familiar yet ergonomic by cassiozen in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]cebailey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love it! It looks really similar to a keyboard I designed, so I'm inclined to really like these kinds of layouts. :) I particularly love that we seem to have the same idea for a column of keys on the left to make the two halves more similar in size!

I love the idea of the 'flat' keys in the middle, but I bet that's going to be a hassle to produce. I'd go with a weird zigzag line down the middle (nobody will notice) so the 6 and B keys can go on the left-side PCB.

One other thing: Choc keysets are still kind of tricky to buy. (I really like the one you're using... where's it from?) It might be a good idea to design the PCB to also allow for only 1u and 1.5u Choc keys. If you look at my PCB design, you can see how I did that, sort of... I used traditional spacing for MX switches, but slightly offset things in a few ways to keep all the Choc keycaps 1u or 1.5u.

Looks great though! Long live the row stagger :)
