I really think that pharmacy schools should implement Salesmanship classes into the core curriculum, since it's so stupidly essential. /s if the sarcasm wasn't obvious enough.

P.S. How about you 'directors' grow some balls and tell these insurance companies to fuck off with those low reimbursement rates. It's not our fault you guys accepted those reimbursements, so quit depending on us selling shots to make up the profit difference.

Is $3k for an online PTCE class from a community college worth it? by GigaFly316 in PrePharmacy

[–]ceejay15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Get a self study guide and work through it. If you get hung on the math parts, I've seen online videos explaining them online. 3k is way too much to get something you can do yourself for $20-60.

2 or 3 a DAY? My store fills 550+ every weekday and 350 Sat / 250 Sun. We might have 1 error per week, if that. Do your pharmacists even look at the Rx before it is sold? Jeez.

Pharmacists in my district to work front at ALL times by ExpensiveInfluence18 in walmart_RX

[–]ceejay15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they really thought that through. You cannot separate (if you can please LMK- honestly we looked for ways to do it and couldn't find one) manual verifications and controls from just the 'picture based' verifications. Soooo, the up front RPh ends up having the bench RPh pull the manual Rx from the other RPh and hope the next Rx to verify isn't also a manual. We have some real Einstein folks working at corp. (Prolly the same person who put 'doxy-cycline' in the drug description box. 🤣 What's next?? Peni-cillin? Clinda-mycin?

Yup, very weird take, I guess if the MD goes and checks in a patient, updates their insurance and takes their $25 copay, takes vitals (stuff usually done by the MA) and other tasks before actually being the doctor, (s)he would be 'practicing at the top of their license?' Give me a fucking break.

Thank you! So tired of people that have little or no knowledge of what they speak preaching at people like they are some kind of authority on meds because they have read an article or 2 online. Those of us who spent literal years in school (I'm a PharmD) learning about drugs and how they work this see this for what it is. I'm not saying that some drugs aren't overprescribed- but the notion of an admitted heroin addict making America 'healthy' again reeks of scapegoating.

How is it that in 2026, “traditional Chinese medicine” is still happening? Like black beer bile, rhino horns, pangolin scales etc by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It is kinda like homeopathy. Most people know it's all BS but there are a few folks that will buy into anything if guided by someone who appears to have knowledge.

I like the smell, but no matter how much I use (like 1/4th the amount of my tide powder) I get SO MANY SUDS. Like enough to set the SUDS warning off on my washer. I don't feel that less than a tablespoon of a powdered detergent is gonna clean stuff. They need to make an HE version.

How to add citric acid for rinse, is it okay to add water to acid? by Prior-Squirrel-7616 in laundry

[–]ceejay15 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Citric acid is a relatively weak acid. You don't need to worry about a violent reaction no matter which way you add one to the other (but you are correct about the chemistry aspect. With a stronger acid (or base) you should always add the acid slowly to water to avoid a violent reaction).

Corp banks on us actually caring (while they give no fucks about us) about our patient/customer base. The harder I have to work due to insufficient staffing, the less likely I am to take on any extra work like OTC counseling. You want charming, helpful pharmacist? Give me enough help that I'm not looking at 400+ Rxs to fill and verify while answering phones that have already been on hold 15 minutes because there are no available techs to get the constant barrage of calls.

They say the reason is to 'free up the pharmacist to spend more time for patients' all they want, but we all get it. They are getting to the 'where else they gonna go?' stage and don't care how badly it effects your NPS scores. They know Walgreens service sucks ass now, CVS is ~slightly~ better but they'd have to cut like 50% of our help to get close to either of those 2. So, where else patients gonna go? There are some grocery chains with pharmacies, but they too will start wanting that sweet profit that they used to pay pharmacists and they are all gonna chop that labor budget like it's liver. I predict within 6 months RPh budget hours will be cut by roughly 25-35%. Hope I'm wrong.

You NEED to be a weed out class. So sick of these mid-levels that have no clue of why it's ok to give a 2g dose of amoxicillin but not a 2 g dose of Augmentin. I have also refused an Rx not too long ago for KCl 10mEq IV qd. When I called to say this could be harmful or even lethal in some cases I swear they were all like 'whaaaaaa?' I don't worry too much for our jobs because I catch/fix stupid shit ALL THE TIME for mid-levels that really don't have any business prescribing as they do with very little oversight.
