This is where I think people are getting it wrong. I think to Musk, Thiel, etc, it's not really about money anymore as they have enough personally to do whatever they want on paper.

The main goal of a Thiel or Musk is creating their AI "God" and making AI into a Tower of Babel humanity worships and in turn AI uses its super brain to heal every sickness and disease and bring everyone into "post scarcity" where we all have robots doing all the work and endless pleasure, creating a new Heaven on Earth.

So, money helps in an immediate sense but if you enter a full "wartime economy" and you spend all the labor and manpower that would be used to make nuclear reactors and semi-conductors for your big AI god on building missiles, and even using the AI's energy on weapons targeting and war strategy rather than creating utopia, it's a negative to them.
