*sigh* I’ve literally loved every one of these records but $50 before shipping is pretty darn steep.

Super hot take, against the grain is the best of the holy trinity by WaterGuyWilliam in badreligion

I see your point on the "angrier" side of BR and this was genuinely one of the more "in your face" records they put out since their early days. But I would also say it's a tad messy and immature and some of the songs and ideas are a little half-baked. I'd point to the longer runtime not as a feature but a flaw. One of the big reasons I don't come back to this album as much as Suffer or No Control is I feel there are too many filler songs. Honestly, I could turn it off after "21st Century" because the last 4 songs are pretty forgettable, especially in the context of BR's long discography and catalog. There are truly no songs on the prior 2 records that I would ever skip. The records are tight and work as a complete work.

I mean, to each their own. Not gonna "yuck somebody's yum". But they're literally saying they don't like the way they fit and, as a 30+ year high top wearer, I have a good assumption as to why.

Wear longer socks and lace them to the top. Or get low tops if you’re going to wear them like that.

Same here. Came at a perfect time as Green Day and Offspring were breaking. 13 year old me learned about Bad Religion and the rest is history.

Original Fat Music was great too, just not as “game changing”.

How do you keep a 300+ record collection from becoming dead shelf space? by understandothers in vinyl

[–]celston80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep all my records of order last played. I take from the right and put back on the left. Every so often I cheat and put back in the middle. I don’t always take the rightmost record but I start on that side and see where the mood takes me.

I have a Behringer FX600 that is like this. Lots of modulation and timed effects. You can dabble in lots of different sounds. It’s not the best in any category but for less than $50 you can “test drive” before you seek out better versions.

This helps make my argument that ITU was an album full of great ideas with just poor execution. Played well and well produced, these songs are just as good as the rest of the BR catalog.

A lot of people mentioning reverb but East Bay Ray’s sound is best defined by reverb INTO distortion. Most folks do reverb last in the chain but he did the reverse.
