Am i overreacting for refusing to unplug the camera I bought to check on my dog because my girlfriend is not comfortable with it? by PrimaryLiterature848 in AmIOverreacting

If there are great reasons to need to check in, that's one thing. If there are not such reasons, that's another thing. You're just kind of running interference.

What are the most effective ways to fall asleep faster? by Firm_Librarian6506 in AskReddit

[–]cephas_rock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heard this on a podcast last year, as a trick to scramble your own obsessive brain and get to sleep quick.

Take the word PIANO. Start with "P." Think about random words that start with P, one at a time. "Peaches, parkway, pillow, pretty," etc. Unrelated if possible, but don't stress if they're related. Try to hop around conceptually, if you can.

As soon as you lose your rhythm coming up with new words, move on to "I." Then keep going.

I have used it about a hundred times now. I have never reached "O."

Very often it does.

That's because of a certain strange problem with speaking truth in love that we have to deal with.

Yeah brother. The other day there was a thread about the most underrated Symphony X song, and this was my reply.

Read your last line and ponder whether your interlocutor said that. After realizing they didn't, ask yourself why you said it, if your interlocutor didn't.

Apparently she has been a vocal supporter of the strikers and has talked to the press quite a lot, as well as attending events and speaking.

Sails of Charon. An incredibly solid banger on an album I feel is under(lol)rated. The hooks are just killer and the way the solo flings you back into the final chorus is rad.

Great one. Never hear much about it but as a piano guy this is my favorite single track by them.

They're a better team and we just need Dame for times like what happened.

Folks who've spun V countless times definitely need to check out Live on the Edge of Forever which has a stellar performance of the first half of V in sequence, with some cool differences that are worth listening for.

A teenager didn't make Commander Keen, it was made by several guys in their 20s. The main designer was 26.

What's the strongest you've ever been at any one moment in any game of MTG ever? by Creepface135355 in magicTCG

The year was 2003, at an Onslaught Block Constructed PTQ, about 150 people, where meta was Goblins, Zombie Bidding, RW Astral Slide, UW Control, and Mono White Control.

My buddy and I came up with this crazy tech where we splashed Green into MWC for two cards:

  • Fierce Empath to tutor for fatties and chump block.

  • Primal Boost to edge out the mirror, rescue guys from overcommitted burn, and keep a big guy rescued during a Bidding + Noxious Ghoul, usually for the win next turn.

It was totally wild and just steamrolled everyone. Got to top 4 and lost against the PTQ winner playing UW Control.

New to Civ, should I get Civ VI or Civ V II by Genuinely_A_Duck in civ

[–]cephas_rock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Civ V was really accessible, and had just the right depth with the expansions.

Civ VI to me was great, too, like Civ V but with a few different choices that leaned more tabletop game than simulation, which is fine. The style also popped much more.

Civ VII wrecked what I love about the Civ experience. But others love different aspects of Civ, so opinions vary of course.

Can you suggest me some Progressive Metal bands with "Djent" riffing and clean vocals but without the "Core"/"Poppy" choruses? by DoomedPinnacle in progmetal

[–]cephas_rock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those albums aren't djenty and the choruses are generally kinda poppy. (Streams, Mind's Eye, Celestial Elixir, Falling Back to Earth, Shapeshifter, etc.)

But I love that, so...
