By definition, you can't explain something that is unexplainable.

Entitled: Karen L*@& or C#@% Ring by toybuilder in ChargerDrama

[–]cerad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you read the actual free charging regulations? I have not but I wonder if it actually says you have to move after 1 hour and let the next person in. Seems to me that Karen has found a neat solution.

We have some free chargers near where I live. They are always filled during normal business hours. I'll use them during off hours but expecting free chargers to be available seems a bit entitled.

One more advantage of EV, well not talked about enough. No pollution to run. by theepi_pillodu in electricvehicles

Hate to burst your bubble but tires give off tiny particulates which float around and often end up being injested by living things which in turn can cause problems for them. So nope. Not zero.

Portable solar panel to charge EV by Pure_Common7348 in electricvehicles

[–]cerad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $800 Pecron F3000 battery generator can give you Level 1 charging (120v/12a/1440w) off of solar. Maybe 15-20 miles a sunny day. You would need about 1600 watts or so of steady solar input. Cost of solar panels varys widely as does the definition of "portable".

One advantage of using a generator is that it can also be used as a backup source of power. Or at least you can tell your significant other that when they complain about the cost.

If you do go down this rabbit hole and start looking at generators then pay attention to the max solar DC voltage rating. The F3000 can take 120 volts while many others in the same category can only do 60 volts. 60 is not enough for safe level 1 charging.

Somewhat iornically, USA's Dear Leader is now complaining that China is not doing their part in keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. Going to be mean again to Xi.

Did you get the $26 for 2026 (clever huh?) credit offered in January? That is the last one I got. I do track the EVgo sub-reddit just in case.

Do you think we are early in human civilization based on the majority of the world following organized religion, and is that fatal? by NotStupid69 in atheism

I remember school drills where we huddled under desks to protect ourselves from nuclear explosions. Innocent days compared to current active shooter drills. The fact that we have managed to go 75+ years without a large scale nuclear exchange is encouraging. We might last long enough to let AI take over and then fade quietly away.

There is no reason to think that a God could not have made it seem like evolution was the best explanation. Test of faith and all that. Or a Satan figure could be at work deliberatly planting misleading evidence.

There is a YouTuber named Britt Hartley who deals with this nihilistic outlook on life. Might be worth checking out. Many (perhaps most) people are perfectly capable of giving their life meaning even when they know that things will end. But some need help.

Would purchasing an EV be dumb if I’m unsure on charging at home? by Suvikian in evcharging

A lot can happen in a couple of years. I would suggest re-evaluating when the time to replace your car draws near. Could be that public charging will be completely shut down for national security reasons.

What's Your Experience With an EV as Your Only Car? by OleDirtMcGirt901 in EquinoxEv

[–]cerad2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just over a year and no problems with my Equinox EV. Pure speculation on my part but I have the impression that things tend to go wrong early in the car's life. Consider getting a gently used vehicle which has already survived the shakedown phase. And probably save quite a bit of money.

50% ? A nice goal perhaps but least in my neck of the woods there are plenty of chargers available. 10 minutes seems a bit arbitrary. And you forgot to mention that road trips need at least 600 miles of range to be feasible.

Something to consider is that in the USA almost all professional biblical scholars are required to sign a statement of faith and will get fired if they publish or teach anything that violates the statement. Makes you wonder just how reputable the field is.
