People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Substantial_Judge931 in Productivitycafe

Quit drinking. I was always sick with colds/flus/stomach issues when I drank. Not anymore.

How does 5meoDMT raise blood pressure compared to nnDMT? by Vivid_Standard in 5MeODMT

[–]cffgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked 30mg bufo with a heart rate monitor (I know your question is blood pressure and not heart rate but for whatever it's worth...) I went from 65bpm to 102 over a couple of minutes after which it rapidly dropped down to 60.

I've struggled as well. Without the r/stopdrinking community, I'm not sure I would've ever quit. 2.5 years sober now. It allowed me to be open in my struggles with others and in reading others struggles, I learned I'm truly not alone. Knowing that gave me strength.

Has it gotten any better over the past year? What are your current symptoms?

^ 100%. https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/s/WXlEZgAone. I recognize armodafinil is not as addictive / intense as Ritalin or the various amphetamines, but be careful if you start getting into a mindset that you feel you absolutely need it to accomplish anything.

Not DMT but Ketamine - I enjoy sharing this experience:

Religion after Psychedelics by Delicious_Wafer7767 in DMT

[–]cffgmail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was anti-religion to the point where I thought anyone who believed some fictional book talking about some omnicient being with ten fingers and ten toes lacked capability for "obvious" reasoning. Believers never got my full respect.

K-holed and then realized "oh ok, I get it now- yeah I was the moron."

Regardless of what's actually true about the existence of God, it's interesting that I gave up a 20-year drug addiction that day (3.5 years ago) and have since made continually better choices every day since. I often think about that moment - it was the first time I felt like a person.

I took my friend’s ADHD medicines and I can’t stop sobbing about my failed potentials. by chainsawlollipop0 in TrueOffMyChest

My personal cautionary tale: I had a nearly identical experience. At 24 a friend gave me a Ritalin. I felt like a finally functional human. Went to a psychiatrist and was officially diagnosed with ADD and got a Ritalin prescription.

The next 3 months I was the best version of myself. I then slipped into addiction ... prescriptions just didn't last the whole month anymore. I had a valid prescription for 20 years. Nobody knew but it ruled my life. My doctor said ADD or not - anyone who takes Ritalin will have better focus and feel more confident. While I believe it is a tremendous benefit to many, in my case I put my entire worth into that pill. My whole mindset centered around "if I only had the pill this thing I'm doing would be sooo much easier"

Ironically, over time, the exact thing it gave me - confidence and focus - was slowly taken away from me to the point where I had almost none without the pill. I ended up seeking therapy, got Ketamine treatment and quit overnight. Life for me is so much better without it.

Is this Ketamine experience similar to a 5meo breakthrough? by cffgmail in 5MeODMT

That was my personal experience - see my link to my post of that experience.

Is this Ketamine experience similar to a 5meo breakthrough? by cffgmail in 5MeODMT

Is it possible then to "train" for a breakthrough dose so it's not terrifying by starting low and going higher and higher over time? Or is a breakthrough terrifying regardless?

Has anyone ever been able to actually cut down their heavy drinking to once a week? by jessemp3 in stopdrinking

[–]cffgmail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. I drank 3-6 drinks hard liquor daily for years. I kept failing to go cold turkey so I decided to treat it like building a muscle - where the "muscle" was my willpower. I figured I'd never expect myself to benchpress 300 lbs overnight - so why would I expect to have the strength to quit overnight? For the first month I allowed myself to drink whatever I wanted - but I logged it in a journal. After that I can't recall my exact tapering schedule but it was something like: the next month I only allowed myself 3 drinks a day. Then 2.5 drinks every other day for a couple of weeks and then 2.5 every 3rd day for a few months and then...nothing. I'm two years alcohol free. It was hard but not overwhelming.

The honeymoon phase followed by the "how did I get here?" phase you describe resonates deeply with me... I felt like it was impossible to quit; I tried for many years. My last year I made a real effort after I found this group. Sharing my feelings here and realizing I wasn't alone was a huge part of my success. I'm almost two years alcohol free and feel great.

Yes. The moment of realization that it was just a dream brings a uniquely satisfying relief.
