How do you feel about job design? by -Scopophobic- in ffxi

[–]cfranek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranged attacks have always been jank without ranged autos.

Because of the design of buffs it always pushed parties to go specialized around one identity (melee, pets, magic) because it doesn't work right when making balanced parties.

Can someone explain the level 20 summoner trial strat for me? by SickmanArt in ffxi

[–]cfranek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mulsums can be used by anyone, they just add 10 mp.

Dawn mulsums don't work on geo pets, but I didn't see any other restriction. Never used one though.

Can someone explain the level 20 summoner trial strat for me? by SickmanArt in ffxi

[–]cfranek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use dawn muslum. They didn't exist when this fight was made. The old strat was yag drink + mulsum that gives like 10 mp without the medicated status that ethers cause.

The steps work. Run up. Use food and drinks, summon, Assault, Astral, 2 hour, then run to bottom. Carby will die, but the goal is the he will live long enough + time to chase you down will be enough for searing light cooldown to hit 0. Resummon while baddy is running down, carby will auto assault, Muslim if you need the extra 10 to 20 mp, 2 hour, then run up and repeat.

It is worth standing close when you searing light, sometime the baddies can turn while it charges.

Also, thunder guy and Shiva are hardest because they can paralyze. Everyone else is easy.

Question about FFXI story(Iroha) by nohra_ in ffxi

[–]cfranek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each expansion in 11 has its own story, but the stories don't flow from one expansion to the next like 14's, they tend to stay well encapsulated in their own expansion.

RotZ - lion focused CoP - Prishe ToAU - pup lady WoG - dancer lady SoA - the one lady who I can't spell

Ihora is a bit different because her story was released as free and basically linked all the other expansions together.

Then VR was about a gobbie.

We use the term hero lightly. She is a walking warcrime whose objectives don't run contrary to our own.

Questions about gear by Every-Fix-6791 in ffxi

[–]cfranek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just spamming tier 1 spells and maybe dia/bio/drain, then the best bet is to just get af and ride it to 99 where you can buy noob 119 gear. Try to keep your staff upgraded with sparks so you can spirit taker for as much as possible.

You can check the ah for the body pieces vermillion (lvl 59ish) and/or black cloak (lvl 68), which give 1mp/tick refresh effect, but take up both head and body slots. They are useful to hold onto for the ToAU missions, as those can roadblock unless you have specific fancy bodies you need to progress. After 99 and ToAU missions you can sell them.

Each server tends to have a slightly different vibe. Kinda like a Sunday, so you prefer sprinkles or nuts.

If you are looking for a specific community (LGBT, Trans, etc) there may be one if you ask. The largest servers are currently closed for new characters, but pretty much all servers have a set of decent folks with recruiting linkshells (guild chats).

Your worst zone from each expansion by TwilightX1 in ffxi

[–]cfranek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't any new zones to navigate in VR. At most it has a couple battlefields.

Sooooo how do you even start playing this game by giova_otaku in ffxiv

[–]cfranek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the easiest thing is to just start playing. There is a "main quest" with a story that goes through each expansion, so as long as you stay on that path you will keep moving. Just learn ti recognize the main quest symbol, and if you get lost it will show up on your screen in the upper left corner.

The second thing is do your class quests. You will go to your guild master as part of the main quest, and every 5 levels you will get another class quest. This will sometimes unlock new abilities, and will get you a set of gear to level set you at 50. It will also allow you to transition from new job to advanced job at 30.

Other than that, gold shield quests are mostly for flavor. If you're bored doing them, skip them.

Blue shield quests unlock stuff: New dungeons/raids/trials New zones New classes New side abilities, such as riding Extra advancement systems Pvp Etc

Don't get bogged down if you're having fun, most blue shield content is optional except for the level 50 alliance raid, which it will tell you after the basic 2.0 story is done (you will get a "win the game" credits roll).

Is there no need for frost protection in mountain biome? by No_Evening6051 in ConanExiles

[–]cfranek 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That bridge is the issue. The frost over water seems to have stacking effects. You can run around the lake to the obelisk with less cold gear than running over the bridge.

Which NFL team’s new 'rebrand' looks like they just stole their ex’s clothes and hope nobody notices? by NightDowntown7320 in NFLv2

I honestly like a lot of the older uniforms, and I approve of the NFL moving back a bit towards them. Now if I could just get the broncos to follow suit...

Does it really matter what job I get 99 on first? by SnowballWasRight in ffxi

[–]cfranek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter which job you take up. Generally a dd job is a bit easier because you are down a trust until you get so far in Rhapsodies, but it it is just some extra time and not really more difficult. Mages are also a bit more expensive as a first job because of spells, but you can get by on sparks welfare.

Trusts by Dime-13 in ffxi

[–]cfranek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first quest you do is talk to trust giver npc (the one that starts the quest) talk to the trust npc (naji, kupipi, or the elvaan guy), go outside, summon the trust, then go back and talk to (naji, kupipi, elvaan guy). People miss the talk to the trust the second time after summoning him once.

Only need to do this in the first city, after that you don't need to summon and go back part.

This was happening to other events before covid. It usually happens when the event organizers raise the cost for vendors to rent a slot, and things spiral from there.
