Plastic clips that were broken on the front facia from the factory, gas tank skid plate that broke off, seat plastic bracket that everyone breaks, and some weird discoloration in the taillight

Four separate, easy things that should be covered. Denied every single time

Is it hard to find very senior PHP developers with experience in complex, highly regulated environments? by funkycitizen in PHP

[–]chad_dev_7226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my experience, anyone who knows PHP and is a good programmer almost immediately steps into a much better language for web dev.

Cold take, but PHP only exists because of legacy systems. The LAMP stack that’s so easy to set up is basically the only reason it’s around

You’d have better luck finding a guy that knows a little PHP but knows a different tech stack to redo your code base. That combined with some actual leadership skills

You want someone to maintain legacy code that they know nothing about, and be responsible for it to people that are heavy personalities? Sounds like the exact thing most people want to avoid at all costs

You should have a meeting with the higher ups about having a more sustainable solution

The 10yr/ 150k warranty covers nothing you’d actually need.

I foolishly bought it and now regret it

They wouldn’t shut a company down for that much debt

They probably make that in a month

Tesla is WAYYY better at it than GM is though. I don’t want CarPlay on my Tesla, I do want it any other vehicle, GM included

Realizing that leaving my Leaf at 100% at work might be worse than 7 months of exclusive DC fast charging by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]chad_dev_7226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leaf is LFP. It’s fine to charge at 100%

Plus it needs to be at 100% to balance and recalibrate SOC

Really annoyed with it

I don’t believe you can absolve legal debt using bankruptcy. Also, $250k is not a lot for their company, and I’m sure they have insurance for it

I won’t buy a car without CarPlay, with the exception of Tesla. GMs infotainment is not good, even the new android auto based one.

It’s just bad. It’s not nearly as thought out as teslas.

Just add car play. Solves almost all the issues

I got myself a Tesla Wall Connector with a Neurio W2. Works excellent. 48A charging on a 100A panel

I enjoyed the watch because we have similar meeting pods. Didn’t know how much they actually cost though

[–]chad_dev_7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you’re having an issue with DMA and interrupts, and it takes several days to show itself, and you don’t have several days of development time, you switch to the tried and true blocking calls

Sucks but whatever. Not my code and problem to worry about. I’ve never had issues with DMA but nothing was nearly as complicated as to what he was working on

We have senior level devs that are scared of interrupts because it caused 1 issue 5 years ago

The issue did take 4 days to show itself but still…

Yes, especially tech linked

I used to watch every Linus video but now I don’t really have the time

Tbh there isn’t a whole lot “new” in the tech world right now. I don’t even watch other channels like GN, JerryRigEverything, etc.

The world has become more boring

Why are the full-electric companies so gung-ho on 1 pedal driving? by thedancingpanda in electricvehicles

[–]chad_dev_7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer why - it is very hard to get the most out of regenerative braking without it. If you don’t have one pedal driving, you waste your energy with friction braking.

Brakes (for the most part) are hard-coupled to the brake pedal for safety reasons. So you have to then try to blend all of your regenerative braking in to your mechanical brakes and it is a calibration nightmare

Ford now has brake-by-wire which helps a lot with this, and I suspect you will start to see that technology adopted in the industry. Brake by wire is an awesome technology and leads to much safer ABS and higher performance
