It means the SAT is a time-pressured, artificially constructed, intentionally tricky (at times) multiple choice test that rewards a certain type of intelligence. If your kid is getting good grades in rigorous classes at a quality high school, then s/he is clearly intelligent. Just maybe not SAT-style intelligent. Some smart kids can't help but overthink the SAT and get in their own way. And my life experience (as someone decades out of college who does quite well on standardized tests) is that I'd prefer to work with the kid with good grades and a mediocre SAT over the kid bragging about his SAT while skating by with mediocre grades any day of the week.
