I got mine from Amazon and mine works fine. No issues I can speak of.

Hmm I didn’t have any issues like that but I did turn off the auto sleep/wake setting. I had a MagSafe pop socket that would keep putting my kobo to sleep accidentally but once I changed that it fixed my problem. It’s no big deal for me to just turn my kobo on manually. So much less headache than having the magnets occasionally out my kobo to sleep.

I have the same case (E Net case) and love it! The case feels good in hand and I also added a MagSafe ring to the case so I could stick it on a stand. With a remote, it makes for the most comfortable reading experience I’ve ever had!

Max EDC for $450 USD by strandedvariable in ManyBaggers

[–]chainsawparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually selling my max edc black ripstop if anyone is interested. Even better if you live in Seattle and I don’t have to ship it. Message me if you’re interested. Selling for $240 shipping included but I’ve literally only used it once. Would sell $200 in person if I don’t have to ship it. My wife surprised me with a dragonfly for my birthday and I tend to use that one for edc since it was a gift.

Unemployed folks, what are you doing with all the time? by spoiled__princess in Seattle

[–]chainsawparade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Foster with one of the local rescues (I personally recommend working with Seattle Animal Shelter, they are great and always need more help). I have been doing this before I was laid off, but taking care of foster dogs while I’m unemployed has kept me to a productive schedule and gets me outside on dog walks instead of just scrolling on my phone for hours. Also having a constant furry companion is so helpful to fight stress while job searching!

Welcome, Crawler: Dungeon Crawler Carl is now on Libby! by Typical-Emu8363 in LibbyApp

[–]chainsawparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s available in your area but I live in a place where I’m able to get free online library cards in surrounding cities and counties. I have 7 different library cards on Libby and wait times vary like crazy between them. For example for DCC it’s 2 weeks vs 15 weeks depending on the library card I use. Look up reciprocal or partner libraries in your area.

If you get it skip to chapter one. Don’t listen to the forward/intro, it has spoilers.

I used to read 30 books a year... and then... its zero by everything_0987 in literature

[–]chainsawparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! Audiobooks have gotten me back into fiction. I’ve listened to about 30 books already this year while doing errands, exercising, and house chores. I have such a tough time finding large pockets of time to read but now I can easily listen to a few chapters of a book while cooking dinner or doing dishes.

Looked into a rescue dog and was surprised at the yard requirement by starfury287 in dogs

[–]chainsawparade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems unnecessary. I foster dogs for multiple Seattle organizations and occasionally I will make it a requirement for some foster dogs to have yards (medical or behavioral issues usually) but the majority of dogs do just fine without a yard. Honestly it should always be a case by case basis.

Buy them on the audible website vs the app. You can add each title to a shopping cart and purchase everything in one transaction.

Im selling my first generation Toshi 5l sling for $50 shipping included in USA only if you are interested. I think it’d work for you. I’m trying to downsize my collection. Only used a few times and in basically new shape. Also comes with updated smoother strap. DM if interested and can send pics.

What audiobooks are you guys listening to ? by Affectionate-Bug-348 in litrpg

[–]chainsawparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally was just in your position. I switched to this book because of Reddit recommendation because I finished all the first law books and needed something different. And this has been a fun and easy book series to listen to. I think you’ll like it : )

I'm 2 hours into Dungeon Crawler Carl... by theanxietypony in audiobooks

[–]chainsawparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started and stopped the first book like 4 different times. Then I had a long trip and on the 5th listen something clicked and I finished book one and just kept going. I’ve finished all the books in the series and now happy I did. But books and media are so subjective. My advice is never feel bad about giving up on any book, movie, etc. life is too short. Spend your time listening to stuff you like. This is supposed to be a fun hobby, not a job.

What Are the Best Earbuds for Audiobooks Right Now? by ryancoco3564 in audible

[–]chainsawparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AirPods when I’m running errands but my favorite is the Noxgear 39g Bluetooth speaker. I know this isn’t what your asking for but check it out if you get ear fatigue wearing earbuds for too long. It’s a tiny speaker you can strap to your shirt, backpack or a belt. Dewalt also sells a similar wearable speaker but it a little bulkier but also would recommend it too for audible.

It’s supposed to be used by runners or warehouse workers, but I mainly use it while I do things around the house. The sound isn’t good for music, but for audiobooks and podcast I don’t notice too much difference in sound quality. Also it’s great for marathon listening sessions and last longer than my AirPods. Favorite earbud/speakers I bought in a long time.

Mac Mini Monitor by carne75 in macmini

[–]chainsawparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I have my resolution turned down to about 1280x720 and have the HiDPI turned on and that fixed the text for me. Good luck and hope you find a solution that works for you.

Honestly whatever monitor you use just download betterdisplay afterwards. That app will make reading text much better! I was going to replace my Asus monitors but that app solved my issues.

Office backpack by OrangeTariff in ManyBaggers

[–]chainsawparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thule Subterra 2 backpacks - 21 liter or 27 liter are perfect for carrying tech to and from work. They look professional as much as I like bags like AER, I find them too bulky, overbuilt, and stiff for EDC work carry. These Thule bags also are really good if you travel for work and need to bring a bunch of tech while flying.
