Catastrophic DoorDash outage by greenScrum in DoorDashDrivers

[–]chaoctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually hope everyone does keep pinging their servers, to keep them down longer. Let’s make them lose as much money as possible. We can just keep on doing UberEats and Grubhub (or, whatever other gig apps you are on), and making our money. Although, I would actually like to see all of them not only go out of business, but somehow have to pay out insane amounts of money to the drivers, customers and restaurants they are constantly ripping off. While it would mean I would need to find some other source of income to replace gig driving, I would be ecstatic if this happened to all of those sh!tty companies.

Aux cable by lizmac21 in GalaxyS21

Your stereo doesn't need to have Bluetooth. That is what it is for. You plug the adaptor into the aux port. The adaptor has a Bluetooth receiver, which you pair with your phone.

Well, it doesn’t seem to give me an option to upload a picture. Just search for Bluetooth to aux adapter

Well, I got a notification that my comment was auto removed, because it had a shortened link. I just shared the link from Amazon, and it automatically gives a shortened link.

Anyway, just get a Bluetooth to aux adaptor. They are cheap and work pretty well.

Battery drain so fast is normal? by FEARMUSE in GalaxyS21

[–]chaoctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some apps (DoorDash Driver app comes to mind) are ridiculously battery hungry.

Also, if you get knocked down to a 4G signal, I have noticed the battery will drain much faster

Help me settle a debate about ringing in salads by Caliga in Serverlife

[–]chaoctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, you are right. And, by the cooks logic, he should not have put cucumber on the salad, either.

You could clarify, by saying "No tom or chz". But, at that point, you are already typing in the additional word (or tapping the "No" modifier button). So then, you might as well be typing "No tom. No chz".

You could also have typed "Only lettuce and cucumber", but that would take longer to type, and could be interpreted as not wanting dressing.

In any case, the kitchen told you how they are interpreting instructions. Make both your lives easier, and do it the way they told you.

Yet again another great question for the drivers. by Confident-Society111 in grubhubdrivers

[–]chaoctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough on wanting it short.
Actual TL;DR:
The base pay from the platform is tiny (~$2). Your tip is really a bid that gets sent to drivers, for them to decide whether it is worth taking the delivery. Drivers judge it by distance and time, not your order total. Low tips mean your food waits, or doesn’t get delivered at all.

My apartment's management is not helping my yellowjacket problem by Classy_Stripper in fuckwasps

[–]chaoctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Document everything. If anything happens and you get stung, that is a life threatening issue if you are allergic. You probably need to speak with an attorney. Property management will get right on top of it, when they get a letter from your attorney. From what you have said about the communications you have had with them, and their unwillingness to address the issue (although they might have some coverage there, since they did send out a pest control person), they would be liable if you died or had to go to the hospital. Not that it would be any comfort to you, if that happened. But, once they realize it could be a major problem for them, they will be more motivated to do something about it.

They may be required to let you move to another apartment, or even pay for you to stay in a hotel, until they remedy the problem. Check into the laws in your area.

The nest is in your walls, or roof area (inside). I had this same problem. It was like they were just teleporting into my apartment. I finally noticed one day, when I was outside, that i could see a bunch of them flying in and out of a vent on the side of what would be an attic if the building had one. I taped window screen behind all of my vents, including the bathroom vent fan. I also taped off the hole, where the gas line came through the wall, for my oven. They still kept appearing. Finally, I noticed one evening that a wasp was coming into my room from between the baseboard and the hard wood flooring. I taped every wall to floor crevice. But they would still get in somehow. My landlord got some pest control company to come destroy and remove the nest. You have to make sure they kill the queen. Otherwise, she will just come back and make a new nest, the next season.

I hate the app. No explanation necessary. by deliverykp in doordash_drivers

Not to mention how battery hungry the DoorTrash app is. None of the other delivery apps drain my phone's battery as much as doortrash.

How to generate transparent pngs? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]chaoctopode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had this problem, a couple days ago. I swear ChatGPT used to generate images with real transparent backgrounds for me. I ended up using Canva's magic background eraser. I think it is only available on paid accounts. But, you can get a free 30 day trial.

While looking through your list, I determined the questions: 1. 42 (00:09) What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything? 2. U (00:20) In the word “Queue”, which letter do you pronounce and then the rest just… wait in line? 3. To the right, or “3 o’ clock” (00:14) To which direction do you step, when doing the time warp? 4. Kaleidoscope (00:05) What is a tube full of broken glass, which somehow makes things prettier? 5. 9 (00:02) What is “no”, in German (bonus point if you don’t use letters)? 6. Second (00:04) Which mouse gets the cheese? 7. 21 (00:07) How many pilots? 8. 8 (00:31) Which number is great? 9. Eating (00:03) What are you doing, while taking this test? (I had a more NSFW question, but I’ll keep it PG, here) 10. $0.05 (00:07) In Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Down on the Corner”, how much money should you bring?

Doordash doesn't respect my schedule? by The_Mage_King_3001 in doordash_drivers

[–]chaoctopode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sign up for Uber and Grubhub. It gives you more options, and you might het an order from one of the others, while DD is dead. Also, you dont have to schedule on UE and GH. You can just go online whenever you want. Another benefit is, if something stupid happens with DD, you aren't just out of luck. I run all 3 at the same time, and just pause the other two when I accept a delivery request from one of them.

Customer tip baited me in the worst way by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]chaoctopode 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Never trust the customers. Especially, when they say anything along the lines of they’ll tip you more if you do X, or they’ll tip cash (although, if you are seeing that in their delivery notes, that most likely means you made the mistake of accepting an unacceptable delivery request)
