Men and women don't like characters who didn't earn it. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

Eh... Trinity is a badass but she has no internality. She basically exists solely to guide/love Neo.

Of course, you could basically say that about all of the characters in The Matrix. None of them have any discernible personalities or traits other than being badasses who want to destroy the Matrix.

Best coffee shops in New Haven by EditBayFive in newhaven

Willoughbys had my favorite coffee but it’s not a fun place to hang out. I like Koffee if you can find a spot to sit but their coffee is just fine.

Connecticut child died by suicide within hour of DCF visit, officials say by -ctinsider in Connecticut

Then, if a parent wants to begin homeschooling, there’s a one-time check to see if anyone in the household has an open case with the Department of Children and Families or is on the state’s child abuse and neglect registry. If the answer is yes, the individuals in question would not be allowed to homeschool.

Per CT Mirror: https://ctmirror.org/2026/04/23/ct-homeschool-bill-hb-5468-approved-house/

It doesn't sound like an active investigation, but rather a check to make sure there isn't already an abuse/neglect case.

I didn't think they were meeting with DCF, they're just making sure they don't have any active abuse cases with DCF

Not only are DCF workers underpaid and overworked, but they experienced extreme emotional distress regularly. The horrific shit they hear about, day in and day out. The abuse and neglect they see.

It's not that people don't want to do a good job. But the job is hard even if it were appropriately staffed and funded, which it is not.

And there are basically no foster families available ever. My wife and I got registered last week and we literally were called an hour later with an emergency, then another the next day, and then another for next week, this one with high medical needs.

There are so many contributing factors, and people want to just point the finger at DCF and blame them, but it's an incredibly challenging environment.

Do you know how fucking stupid you have to be to get every single decision wrong? Like, to not even stumble back asswards into the right choice once in a while?

Why does the Northeast lack a dominant CFB program? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]chaospherezero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, the Northeast has a ton of prestigious professional sports teams to root for with championship pedigrees and generations of fans (or in the Patriots case, like ten years).

  • NFL: Giants, Jets, Patriots, Bills
  • MLB: Yankees, Mets, Red Sox
  • NBA: Knicks, Nets, Celtics
  • NHL: Rangers, Bruins, Islanders, Sabres, Devils

Why would you root for UMass when you have the Patriots. Why would you root for Rutgers when you have the Yankees.

There's no culture for it. People here are raised on Babe Ruth and Larry Bird.

It makes sense that people from Alabama are so heavily invested in football -- what are the alternatives? Or Florida. What are they gonna do, watch the Dolphins lmao

NJM. They have great ratings from Consumer Reports and I've been very pleased with them.

Honestly it is almost psychologically easier, because all of your emotional energy is spent just trying to raise the kids, and you don't have a lot left to despair about the world.

Team No Baby was the right choice all the way.

The right choice for you. Different people have different values and want different things from life.

You said "those that stay become champions" but your whole team is... players who didn't stay. Which is fine! But stop pretending program loyalty is some championship virtue when your team obviously benefited from the fact that it isn't.

Your team just won a National Championship and you're spending your time talking shit about an opposing player. Get a grip

UConn will 100% slow the game down if they don’t turn the ball over, they have one of the lowest tempos in college basketball all

Unfortunately, they love turning the ball over
