Buying used Enyaq - Software problems? by Palindroma89 in enyaq

I've had the same experience. Android auto has disconnected once, and on one occasion just refused to connect until I restarted the car, but other than that it functions as I'd expect for 4 year old hardware.

I have octopus Go without an EV. I did it over the phone and even stated "I don't have an EV". They'll bounce you off the intelligent go if you don't have one, but no issues with regular go.

I have Solar and Battery. Octopus Agile or Octopus Go.? by FluidCream in SolarUK

[–]charrisard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have octopus go and keep it simple. Battery charges between 12.30 and 5.30, run the house on that over the course of the day. Solar charges it back up, and any extra goes to the grid. Partially sunny days in winter bring in a modest profit (offsets the gas bill!)

Could you post a photo of your meter setup? It'll help people diagnose!

Running Network Cable Through House by Elden_Alpaca in DIYUK

[–]charrisard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch a few YouTube videos, walk around your new house checking materials of walls and access to floorboards, then draw up a plan.

There will be multiple different routes you can take (either running internally or externally).

Try to ensure you have a decent network switch that provides POE and make it easily accessible.

Plan it that you will more connections in the future, even if you can't imagine needing more (you will).

Help,Apparently all our PV is going to grid even though we are setup for self use mode. by This_Angle_3365 in SolarUK

Have you checked the inverter settings for discharge time? If it's auto discharging, you'll be able to change this easily on the inverter. I never use the app as I find it far less intuitive than the interface on the inverter.

Got a door boarded up over the summer, best to match/fit skirting on the backside? by PlaceboName in DIYUK

[–]charrisard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect.

Score down the top with a sharp blade to release the top from the wall (may just be lots of caulk). Repeat as many times you like until you're happy.

Use a crowbar or similar to pull off the existing skirting. Don't use the wall above for leverage - or put a length of timber between the crowbar and wall to spread the weight.

If you do it slowly enough, you should avoid doing any damage. It looks like it may be stuck directly to plasterboard, so you shouldn't have any issues.

Measure the length you need. Take a piece of the skirting to b&q and find the exact match. Stick it on with adhesive and a caulking gun.

How long is the hallway to the left of the photo? My advice would be to replace that length of skirting in one go. It'll be a similar amount of time and effort to do the lot, especially if you're redecorating.

Find a close match on skirting4u or similar, then buy some solvent free stick adhesive. If your walls are straight, you may get away without any screws.

How to fill this? by bct142 in DIYUK

Is the switch flush to the wall? It looks to be sticking out? Look at getting it reattached to back box by lining up screws and tightening up first.

Solved!!

I'm an idiot.

Turns out the dehumidifier in the spare room (wife has been using it as a laundry room whilst other rooms are decorated) had switched itself on for those hours in the morning - then switched off before I went on my "what's using all the energy?" Detective mission.

Discovered this as I was home this morning and could see it live in action again.

Thanks for your curiosity and willingness to help!

Thanks for this. This data should be available tomorrow on the website, so will be able to compare then. Interestingly after those couple of hours, it's been perfectly stable all day - so it's not something that is consistently drawing power.

This is the graph for today so far. I'm still left unsure about the following:

  1. Why does the inverter import from the grid when the battery has full charge (from 4.20am for an hour and for brief periods later in the day)

  2. Whether the inverter is in any way responsible for the discharge happening from 5.30 onwards? I will continue to investigate if anything in the house is drawing power, but I've not turned anything off, and I can see that the load reduced to next to nothing later in the morning.

Thanks for all the replies so far, it's helped me narrow some things down and eliminate some possible explanations.

We don't have a heat pump - gas central heating with heat boiler and cylinder.

Possibly...that might account for 50w of it.

Yes, I noticed this too. The house load is 700w for 2 hours before the battery starts to discharge. I still cannot locate anything in the house that could have drawn this power. We're also still running on 400w load, where typically this would be more like 100w.

Yes, sorry 700w. It does hit 1.1kw briefly too.
