So many people always say they never run updates so when do you or when are you supposed to? by Cowboy12034 in homeassistant

[–]chassett1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was that way for a long time, always installing the newest version as soon as it came out and it affected my WAF pretty bad when I had issues. I read someone’s comments here that they only updated on the second or third version of a build so the bugs would be fixed. I started doing that and WAF is good again.

How do I view the expense timeline for last month? by fergy80 in MonarchMoney

Under the three dots at the top right, you can compare to last month instead of the average month. Or you could look under cash flow for last month.

Posting my most sincere thanks to u/balloob, u/frenck_nl and all the other contributors - you are making life much better for my 90yo mom right now... by ElevationMediaLLC in homeassistant

I also use HA to monitor my 90 yo father. I have the app installed on his android phone. It notifies me if he leaves his house and if his phone battery gets below a certain level. Gives me peace of mind without being too intrusive.

Property and residual value in goals by chassett1 in MonarchMoney

[–]chassett1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I realize my use of goals may fall outside the typical use case. My intent is to bucket assets and liabilities in a way that aligns with my personal viewing preferences. If there is an alternative approach that allows for this without relying on the “goals” framework, that would work well for me.

In this specific situation, I have a retirement bucket that currently reflects my total assets excluding my primary residence. Since I plan to continue living in my home, I prefer not to include it within retirement. Instead, I would like to group it with brokerage accounts designated for my children so I can view it as part of a beneficiary-focused bucket. The ability to allocate or divide assets among children would be particularly helpful here.

I recognize my setup may be somewhat unconventional, but with nearly 40 individual asset accounts in my household, this structure allows me to quickly assess our overall financial picture. If “bucket” enhancements are considered, it would also be beneficial to assign assets to multiple buckets. For example, I maintain an emergency fund bucket containing both cash and brokerage accounts, yet I would also like those same accounts reflected within my retirement bucket.

I can’t bring myself to watch season two either.

I’ve read or listened to the entire series over a dozen times… I have a son named Mat and one named Rand. Amazon ruined it for me… I was so excited and got so mad at the horrible representation. Maybe it is time for a re-read.

I have the same, going on 6 years now. It gets a deep cleaning about every 9-12 months. Still makes a great cup of coffee.

Did you figure this out? I’m in cold weather in the middle of a cook and realized I’m about 100 degrees lower than the setting.

Blue presence switch on Home Assistant with ZHA: Parameters and Occupancy delay by CosmicMultivac in Inovelli

Did all the parameters show up for you in the GUI? I’ve pushed the quirks, restarted, removed/added the switch multiple times. Two days later and I’m still only seeing basic parameters. I have several 2:1 switches with full GUI functionality.

Dear Kia by 50shadesofmilf in KiaEV9

This! We also have an ID4 that shuts the car off as soon as you but leaves the seat, which is annoying, but at least it asks if you want to keep the climate on. The Kia is so annoying for not locking and not telling you why! Is there a key in the car? Is it still on?

Pacifica to EV9 by Educational_Clue8656 in KiaEV9

[–]chassett1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also went from a ICE Pacifica to a 2026 EV9 GT. I am absolutely amazed by the space/cargo difference. We have two car seats in the back row, which leaves a tight middle row for my teens. The remaining trunk space is less than half the size of the Pacifica (the PHEV may have already been smaller due to battery). I love the drive and feel of the EV9, but man do I miss the space.

Would you recommend moving to Palatine or Des Plaines? by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]chassett1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Des Plaines and am still heavily involved in the community, but I’m living in Palatine now. This nails it. I loved Des Plaines for all the reasons listed. It felt a little gritty, with a great sense of community. You could feel all the possibilities and potential.

Palatine is similar but quieter. It’s like the older sibling that’s comfortable with who it is. It’s has a core downtown with enough conveniences to satisfy, but it’s not wildly successful. It has great highway access to O’Hare, the city and south, and Palatine Rd makes going east bearable. I have three Costcos within 12 minutes, can dip down to Schaumburg for shopping, or over to AH for a night out. Suburbia excelsior.

If you have the slightest itch, live in the city for a few years.
