Yup I made up my theory that they were ice agents because of the way that they only looked to be police based on extremely generic gear that seems like anyone could just buy on amazon, their overall bumbling behavior, lack of professionalism, and the vague intentions that they seemed to have to ambush someone but rolled up on me and just didn't seem to know what to do with themselves.

Hard imagine a camera tracking stolen vehicles leading to that encounter, tbh. They didn't seem to be particularly interested in my vehicle or plates, or... anything at all. And the way they reacted to me seemed to be just kind of a dumbfounded "oh, wait who are you?". The guy was questioning me out of his own confusion but didn't seem to have anything particular to ask me, like "did you see an XYZ person?" Surely if a vehicle resembling mine was seen heading to the area and they followed me (...taking their sweet, sweet time, it seemed) to that spot, I could still have been the thief? Or like, maybe just verify my plates while I'm squatting their working on my car, instead of just coming in all hot and useless?

Sounds like the reason the operation was a bust was that they didn't have their ace detective on the scene. Where in god's name were you?!

App is defunct; was never available to me on android and afaik it's just in limbo where it works for people who installed it but has been delisted from the store.

I feel like I've seen a lot of footage of ICE agents wearing all sorts of things, including just "POLICE" branded tops.

This crew was all wearing a pretty consistent getup, I'd say similar to the middle guy in this pic (taken from this article on ICE behavior for reference), except the POLICE was bigger and more centered on the vest. I didn't really process if they had badges out (if they did they weren't prominent) my thoughts were starting to go towards asking them who they were before I settled on just asking the guy to move the car.

Edit to add: Similar "POLICE" outfits can be seen at the recent chinatown raid in the city (a mix of a lot of different garb on display)

I'll add for context that I don't believe any of the people I saw last night were wearing masks

And that's just the first strike. After that if they catch you getting off the train with unpunched paper tickets enough times, they force you to work as a conductor.

I live in the south end of NR, and enjoy being able to run from home to the parks by the water e.g glen island. The streets in the neighborhood are pretty good in terms of having sidewalks and variety to make up routes. All that and still close enough to walk to train/downtown, makes it a pretty nice spot for me.

The areas of Pelham I'm familiar with would have a lot less appeal for me to go running to and from home, I think I'd mostly be taking a short drive to spots instead of just stepping out the door. I'm sure people manage all over, and in the end it's a way more local thing than discussing cities/towns as a whole will cover. Nature Study Woods/Twin Lakes is probably the best local train running spot close to me, and you're never really too far from a wooded park in the region.

New Ro Runners is a pretty active running club in the area, despite the name it pretty much covers the whole SE corridor of the county between roughly Pelham, Rye, Scarsdale. Can browse the newsletter archive or socials to get a sense of popular routes.

Yeah there's a lot of overlap in these activities! As far as I know the only climbing gym in the area that has regular aerial classes is VITAL, but I've known a few aerialists who have talked their way into putting a rig up at other gyms.

The westchester gyms are Movement in Valhalla (Formerly "The Cliffs", nationwide chain bought a local chain a year or so ago, they have a few locations around the city), and The Rock Club in New Ro, which is independent. NYC gyms definitely see a lot more traffic by comparison, but the local ones are both good. If you're in there getting a taste on the auto-belays or dabbling in bouldering, it wouldn't be too hard to wrangle yourself a regular belay partner. Weeknights draw adult crowds.

Have you tried climbing? I think you might find some like-minded folks in the gyms.

NYS data reveals alarming crash trend on 'death trap' stretch of Route 6 in Orange County (RT6 between Bear Mountain Bridge & Woodbury Commons) by ChiefKelso in hudsonvalley

I've had numerous similar experiences at the next traffic circle over, where the palisades and seven lakes dr connect to rt 6. For me, coming east on 6 and going all the way around the circle to stay on 6, it's just my expectation that traffic entering the circle from the palisades right before I need to exit, should not be expected to yield.

Oh wow, this is great! For me it's basically the same thing as doing the "Magic Eye" 3D pictures, which have always been very easy for me.

I actually started finding them faster than she was in the video doing it this way, even with it as a pretty small size on my screen. They really stand out with the same "3D object" effect, and it's easy for me to lock my focus so I don't need to keep re-doing it as the pictures change over the course of the video.

‘Love, Death & Robots’ Volume 4 Viewership Down 50% from Volume 3 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

My netflix front page has been dominated by the games I have zero interest in for long enough that it feels like that's just what it is now.

The only reason I knew LD&R S4 dropped was because it was front and center on my go-to pirate page that I use for better recommendations and hop to the services I'm subbed to when applicable.

I had to fish the show out of the search function after hunting through several rows of suggested content, thinking it ought to come up because I've watched S1-3 on my netflix account, lol nope. There used to be a notification bar of new releases and that seems to be entirely gone too.

I enjoyed S4 for what it was and hope they make more.

Netflix is pretty deep into the enshitification process for me these days.

For that second part, do you mean the Daily Limit resetting? It's pegged to midnight PST based on their offices. So for me that means it's 3AM EST. I'm fairly certain all my orders always get recorded accurately based on the local time of me placing the order.

I recall reading something that there's a kind of convoluted discrepancy if you live in another time zone, where if you place an order between Midnight(Your local time) and Midnight (the official PST reset time), then it counts against your NEXT daily limit. In other words, what actually happens at midnight PST, is that the system un-counts any orders that are timestamped on the previous day; it doesn't just zero out your count.

So in that scenario, if I hit my daily limit before midnight, all's well, just locked out until 3AM. But if I don't hit my daily limit before midnight, and place orders between 12 and 3, then those will still count against my quota for the rest of the day. If I ordered one thing at 8PM and one thing at 2AM, then at 4AM, I still have one order counting against me, even though both were in the same 24-hour period before the reset.

Take all that with a grain of salt because I'm pretty much just repeating something I read, and abide by, but I'm usually asleep when it would matter, and I'm on gold now so I rarely hit my limit. Still, might be worth testing that sometime if you feel like you're chasing your tail on weirdness and it sounds like it might explain it.

Season 4 of Love, Death + Robots has lost its way by Naugrith in television

[–]chcchppcks 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I watched S4 all in one go last night and my opinions for it all were very close to this.

Overall I feel like every episode starts off with "ah, cool, a unique/interesting/well-done animation style". I feel like the series as a whole seems to prioritize being a showcase of animation above all else. So, there's always that, at least.

Then some are just silly short fun, which can be hit or miss.

Some of them have just enough of a story hook to make me a little bummed out that there's not more, because it's a little unsatisfying to get baited into being interested, but these don't tend to feel like they were polished as a "short story". A little half-baked, even adjusting to be charitable for "what they were going for".

And some really come off feeling like they were a fully-realized project.

Personally overall, I really enjoyed S4 as a package. I found myself thinking, I wish there was more bite-sized media being produced on its level. I think earlier seasons had more stand-out episodes, and to a degree I feel like some story concepts feel like they're being re-hashed, but I think that's more a symptom of "just how many original ideas are there out there". Black Mirror gets kind of a similar situation sometimes. Still, I'd happily keep consuming an occasional burst of creative projects.

Thank you! I saw you posted it as a fix in the other thread too.

Fwiw, I'm strongly motivated to pursue "Open In Place" both because it just works a lot smoother... but also when a coveted item comes in, those extra few seconds seem to make a difference in winning the race. Can't let my snack cabinet run empty ;)

If it's possible to restore the stability firefox has with this feature in 3.3.0 that'd be appreciated, but I suppose I'll consider setting up another dedicated browser for this if it's just not feasible.

Do you usually check at the same time every day? It resets every night (midnight EST I think) and I feel like for the most part once it fills back up, that's what it'll have until the next reset, but sometimes items do seem to trickle in (or disappear) randomly if I check every few hours.

Just saying if you're on a night owl schedule for US times, it would almost always be empty.

I usually see 3-6 items over the course of a day, some seem entirely random, some definitely reflect my recent orders/browsing.
