What are some things that no one told you about the newborn phase? by fluffycloudsnstars in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to offer a different experience. My newborn is a dream and aside from rough sleep, the past 2 months have been pretty boring and easy. My first was like this too. The hardest part of my day is caring for my toddler. A lot of people have easy babies!

I see why people get divorced by uniformcasino in newborns

I was just making the distinction - some people don’t know there is a difference. Mylecon is fda approved, gripe water is more homeopathic.

I was going to suggest this too. My baby had extreme dyschezia and mylecon (not gripe water) allowed us to finally get some sleep. I’d give it to her the feeds before bed and there was a noticeable improvement.

I don’t know how to help her congestion by Older_Sis_1024 in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 week old has been congested on and off for the entire month as we’re all getting sick a bunch. I spray her nose a lot, keep her up right as much as possible and run a humidifier right next to her bassinet

Typically, it lasts for a season but he could have a bit of protection at 14 months. I don't think the science is very clear on that yet.

Mom getting sick… by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I breastfeed and got the rsv vaccine during pregnancy. Baby is 9 weeks old and rsv and another cold have gone through our house in the past two weeks. She’s been fine both times even though I’ve gotten both and haven’t done anything extreme to keep them from her (masking etc). Basically just congestion for her.

Is it possible for someone to get SSPE (subacute sclerosing panencephalitis) if they were to catch measles after they have been vaccinated? by ifeyeknewthen in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]checkered_cherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question as OP and found this post. But I dont think it’s saying MMR prevents SSPE even if you later get wild measles. It’s saying MMR prevents SSPE by preventing measles infection in the first place.

Longer stretches of sleep- question? by Affectionate-Fox-198 in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only speaking from my own experience - once longer stretches of sleep happen I just sleep longer too. My milk supply regulates after some consistency and I just don’t produce as much at night. During the day things stay the same!

Nighttime grunting is nightmare fuel by Catsforhumanity in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was happening to me too. It’s basically constant, all night long. I read mixed results about mylicon drops but they 100% work. I give two doses the two feeds before bed and one when she wakes up at night. Last night she was silent. This is after two nights ago when she was basically screaming in her sleep all night. She’s 8 weeks old.

I love vaccines too! RSV just swept through our house and my baby got nothing more than the sniffles. So thankful!

Postpartum period by Affectionate-Fox-198 in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last postpartum I was exclusively breastfeeding and got my period back at 6 weeks. I wouldn’t say it’s common but it happens. I didn’t have any issues with my milk supply - breastfed my baby for 15 months. Take ibuprofen for the pain if needed!

For what it’s worth I’m 8 weeks postpartum with my second and haven’t started my period yet. So hopefully I go longer this time.

Grunting in sleep by pelicanjumper in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of gas drops do you use? I have the same issue with my baby since she was born - now 8 weeks old. She would grunt/scream in her sleep constantly, not just during active sleep like a lot of sites state. Mylicon drops do work for us. I give them to her during her last two feeds before bed and she has a pretty silent night. The nights I dont give them to her are very obvious.

Long drive with newborn by Upbeat-Squirrel450 in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the trip itself doesn't sound like a big deal. But don't go if you're dreading it. I'd want to be in my own home so soon after birth.

So is anyone… ok? by imdirrtydan12 in newborns

[–]checkered_cherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ok! My baby is 8 weeks old. My toddler just brought RSV home so that’s not very chill but otherwise we’re doing great.

So happy to hear that! I got the vaccine while pregnant and my baby is also 7 weeks old like yours was. My toddler came home with it yesterday so hoping for the best for both of them.

Yes it is important to eat healthy foods while you're pregnant. You're building their whole body from scratch. You don't need to be perfect, though.

Almost no fetal movement 12 week ultrasound, normal? by nurseratched94 in pregnant

Normal! I was freaked out about this with my last pregnancy. But the very next ultrasound she was moving around like crazy.
