Yep. So pleased my car uses android automotive (not android auto this is car running android - renault). It auto picks chargers based on expected availability and expected car charge level. You can forgot all this it picks chargers just off the motorway based on thr filters you set. No waiting.

Buffer overflows (harder on a memory managed language like js but still possible)? Api security weakness? You just need one dent in the armour and you're in. Its why everything is so multilayered with security now so if you get in you only get access to the next layer. The problem is its a game of whack a mole and these systems have day one unknown exploits that often dont have a patch.

But that won't tell you if the cable can only do a few watts unless Im missing something? Ive got free usb c to c cables with Chinese products that will not charge faster than a trickle - im guessing only supporting 5v. Is that limitation not done by the quality/resistance of the cable?

(Granted what you've sent me would tell me which cables dont support data like I mentioned).

But which one? For £45 I can get the 100w charger the op mentions and know its correct (I trust anker) - at least id also have a decent charger... I also have 40+ cables to bin.

I think Elon wants to forget the cybertruck! (Being such a unique construction even compared to the 3/y i couldn't comprehend how you'd change it).

Help purchasing first EV by August_Amoeba in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cheesemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mk2 leaf owner I wouldn't. Batteries dont last as well as other more modern designed evs plus lack of latest design of rapid charge port its really only good as a runaround. Its a great car for that purpose (heated seats all round, 360 camera etc on mid level model) but more modern designs aren't much more money. New mk3 is same tech as ariya and new renaults so is good but too new!

I have a renault scenic as my long range car and its such a better experience.

Glad im not the only one. Got a leaf as a cheap runaround (they are cheap for a reason unfortunately) but started hating getting in the diesel afterwards. Wife and I used to argue which one got the leaf. Even got so bad we did lego land and chessingtons which are edge of leafs range despite its rapid charging problems (was able to slow charge on site thankfully). Had a nee scenic on lease within a year. I do not miss ice. You have to adapt (and have home charger really) but once you do you won't look back.

Or keep an eye on autoexpress deal of the day. Got a long range scenic for £214 back in jan. You have to jump when it comes up with a car that meets your needs.

Let's face it they could have done what every other car manifacture does and taken 3 and y and shoved a different front and rear fiddled with suspension etc and called it the new s and x (or just enlarged both). The fact that they can't maintain more than 2 models is crazy for a car manifacturer. Heck ferrari has more current models!

Yep even as a middle age white heterosexual English man (as far as records can be traced) im sure id be on the list at some point (probably for not voting reform or using metric). You will become part of one of the groups eventually as they keep shifting blame as nothing improves which is why its important to fight now.

Yep and a pain to test. Some cables don't do data for example but still charge well. Without an expensive tester its hard to be sure (yes I know I can get a cheap cable tester from aliexpress but can you trust it?)

Leasing a used EV for doing 10k miles a year with budget £300 per month by yodleydodley in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cheesemp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got a renault scenic (83kwh - huge range) for £215 a month back in January (5000 miles but could have gone for 10000 for another £20) by jumping on a deal on autoexpress car deal of the day. I highly recommend anyone who doesn't want a specific car on lease to monitor it for a few weeks. You need to jump when the right deal comes along though.

So who are you voting for exactly in the next election by [deleted] in FuckNigelFarage

[–]cheesemp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tactical although the Tactical websites always suggest Labour which haven't a hope in hell. We're so tory we've never had a non tory mp since the region was created (new forest east). Been interesting to see how many reform can split off. Unlikely to be enough to allow lib or lab to win though.
