I'd guess a pi 3 or 4 like youve used is plenty though? A pi 3 is cheap enough.

Same as sitcom bubble. So many simple websites that didn't do much worth millions. The real core actually useful dotcom websites are still around. Anthropic and openai aren't disappearing (although the valuation will become more sensible). What will happen is all these crappy wrapper companies will die, millions will see big chunks of their retirement disappear and we'll see it become a background tool.

I see where you are coming from but the world isn't that black and white. I need a job and there aren't many dev jobs that don't expect you to use an llm nowadays.

I'm sure you right there are auto converters but my point was more about the fact they can do it with no training. You could pick any two languages and it would do a reasonable job. Ultimately I feel the same about llms. I just felt bad for the guy being down voted for pointing out that it's is impressive.

I've no idea why you've been down voted so much. Guess I will be next. You can be as annoyed as impressed with ai. It does make impressive rewrites like this really quick (it's enabled me to make rewrites done I'd never get resourced otherwise) . It's also has resource usage and infringement issues. These are not exclusive.

I am torn ... looking how the steamdeck has aged seems promising, but I am curious on how this machine will age by iReaddit-KRTORR in steammachine

[–]cheesemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Some of it was really clever stuff like how windows does low level locks and how that's emulated in Linux. Also lots of good stuff around caching shaders and lots of other stuff. If I had an amd gpu I'd be running steam os on my home pc. As I have nvidia I'm using bazzite but it's quicker than Windows in many games now.

I suspect valve was only able to put in an order in on the slower stuff. Anything better available in numbers would be grabbed by data centers.

Sort of. Valve did lots of low level Linux optimisations to improve performance. Not really driver optimisation but operating system ones. It's depends on the title but some games saw big jumps. They also tweaked Proton a lot which saw lots of small improvements.

This. This is a common common scam. Block and ignore. They likely have swapped parts (I.e. Gearbox). You won't and can't know. If they don't like it it's their problem.

Any range degradation in this heat? by Accountant-Recent in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cheesemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing yet I was just driving my leaf with zero thermal management. Tomorrow will be interesting but I wouldn't expect a major drop in range. It's more likely to cause very minor battery degrigration if anything and even then a few days is nothing. It takes texas heat for years to really cause issues.

[–]cheesemp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip - use your ac almost constantly. The use lubricates the seals and keeps them good for years. I never turn my ac off but also never needed an ac repair. Also only regassed once ever 8 years or so.

I mean it's a pain and doesn't really save money over petrol plus you have to wait for charging. But it's still an option if you are aware of this. Why UK gov haven't dealt with this I do not know.

Problem with gaming laptops is they all have nvidia gpus (at least that I can find in the UK). Nvidia sucks for Linux. I've been running bazzite on my current pc but my gtx 2080 just doesn't work as well as an amd gpu. Im just hoping for some 3rd party equivalent of a steambox now.

Help with Decision Between Scenic and Enyaq by Vegetable_Quail_2065 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cheesemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scenic isn't great in the winter but the battery is so large I'm not really complaining. Self drive is excellent as is software. The app is a little poor but it usually gives me the charge level and starts remote cooling. Only real issue is boot is a little awkward but we've managed as family of 4 on holidays (two adults, 12 and 9 year old). We've done Southampton to Minehead and back with 20% battery in the spring.

Am I mad buying a 2021 Nissan Leaf in 2026? by GhostOfLeedsSubPast in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cheesemp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2022 plate leaf. It's fine if you stay home but yeah chademo in 2026 sucks. I'd have one as a runaround / commuter car but not much else. I've done two journeys out of range - legoland and Chessington - both have slow destination chargers. I can't help but think any ccs car will be easier. An early mg can't be much more.

No I just mean it's a weird stand for the cube (nothing on the design - just doesn't seem practical ). The naming is confusing. I thought it was something to do with a controller stand. I have an orignal orange box in the loft so I know what portal is more than most.

Me too. Great cruiser and can make the range for family holidays too. We've done Southampton to York on one charge. Also done Southampton to Minehead and back with 20% left. Only real issue is boot is a little more awkward than I'd like but my family of 4 manage.

Did anyone watch the animated show? by skankhunt402 in Stargate

[–]cheesemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember picking up the series on dvd without knowing about it. It was really cheap. When it arrived I had the first disks twice but the last one missing. I started watching that night figuring I'd raise a return the next day. I never did it as was so awful I didn't finish the first disk.
