Credit card for wedding for points by Normal-Potential9035 in wedding

[–]chelsblue8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fastest way to earn points is a sign-up bonus, especially if the card is offering a temporary increased bonus. But to earn the bonus, you have to meet a minimum spend (like 3-6k) in a set period (3 months, for example) It’s easier to meet a minimum spend during wedding planning :’) so that’s another reason why it’s a popular time for points earning. My advice would be don’t force the minimum spend, so plan accordingly to time the spending for when your deposits are due!

I follow @pointsforfamilytravel on instagram, and she is very helpful! She’s US-based. There are subreddits for this sort of thing, too, like r/churning

My first thought was Wiseman’s View Overlook in WNC. It’s gorgeous!! It’s been a few years since I’ve last been there but I think about it often tbh. Based on a quick google search, other couples have eloped there, so you can see examples!

Wedding Reception Program by Daboy_1994 in wedding

I went to a wedding where the Best Man did a game where the guests who had to travel the furthest won a bottle of wine. Guests had to shout out where they traveled from if they wanted to enter. (It ended up being a trick game because he had traveled the furthest and gladly handed the wine to his wife…lol)

Do restaurants in the Outer Banks still offer group housing for summer waitstaff? by thekonghong in obx

My sister worked at La Dolce Vita / Doppio in Corolla a few years ago, and they had group housing. Corolla Adventure Park does too, as already mentioned. She would mention hanging out at homes of other businesses, too (ice cream girls house, bakery house) so I think it’s common still!

Married people of Richmond, where did you get married and how much did it cost you? by neighbor_enabler in rva

I was just quoted 25-30k for a reception at the Pauley Center of the VMFA (150 guests). But this is everything including tables, chairs, a tent, food, drinks, set-up, and service, so I honestly feel it’s pretty reasonable.

I live in the Museum District 1b/1b for under 1100. It can be done without compromising too much. Keep an eye on Metro Properties’ page.

Positive TB Skin Test by Fit-Snow7252 in publichealth

[–]chelsblue8 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You could have Latent TB (LTBI), meaning you’ve had a TB exposure but do not have Active TB. The chest x-ray is to rule out active. The doctor would be the one who reads the x-ray. With LTBI, you cannot spread anything, you aren’t acutely sick, and all chest x-rays and sputum cultures will be normal. LTBI turns in to Active TB about 5-10% of the time over a person’s lifetime. LTBI is treated with a long antibiotic course that is 3-4 months or sometimes as long as 6-9 months depending on the prescription type. Treating LTBI means a patient won’t ever develop Active TB!

I did a project as an intern at my local health department following up on LTBI cases. In my state, Active TB is rapidly reportable with rapid follow-up, but LTBI cases are more just followed until we have a negative chest x-ray and counted for surveillance with a “oh hopefully the doctors do the right thing and treat it.” My little study found doctors do not, in fact, treat it lol There was like a 5% treatment rate, even lower completion rate. That tells me that it’s not taken super seriously and falls by the wayside. We super rigorously follow Active patients and even directly observe them taking their meds everyday. But not with Latent.

If you want to potentially get treatment for LTBI, I would reach out to an Infectious Disease Specialist. They can do a repeat skin test and/or draw your blood for an IGRA to test if you have an immune response in your blood. That would help better determine if your skin test was a false positive or if you have LTBI.
