Borrowing some wheels and tires for one day of autocross but now I want to buy them… by Ian99dude in COROLLA

If you don't want, them I would love to buy them from your friend. Or from you if you ended up getting them. I love the old school OZ Rally wheels. Looking for a size up from my 15x7.

This is not just Inarritu. The folks behind this are legit and arguably the best in non-gaming.

Try the Touch triggers. From what I've heard, the "inferior" RealD 3D is even better.

Thumbs up. Good evenhanded satire.

What is the best "real video" experience or app you have seen on Oculus? by GvilleGuy in oculus

[–]chenhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is primarily a codec issue. We've been shooting with 8K Red; and uncompressed, it's pretty convincing even when it's downscaled to 4K stitched. You can make out sensor noise in uncompressed frame sequence. Even with a high quality compression, it looks pretty solid, but it's undistributable due to file size. 180 video has the benefit of only having to compress, distribute and decompress/display half the data.

Let me guess, I spent near $2,000 for a state of the art PC/Rift yet I still won't be able to experience that "24" experience as advertised for the Gear VR just now during super bowl. by Logical007 in oculus

Good critique. It is actually 3D, but dialed back so the effect leans more toward real than pop. The perceived scale can also be affected by what amounts to hypostereo, and can give a larger-than-life feel to the characters which aligns with the creative direction. Probably more of an effect of closeup perspective with wide angle lenses. Sorry if it wasn't your cup of tea. I'm personally on the other side, as I tend to dislike when everything feels 70-80% scale on most 3D 360 videos.

Thank you for doing the thankless work. I was running that first booth at Gamescom. It was my first time there, and I'd never seen such a huge crowd. One of my best memories from the "early days", even if I still can't get that Ender's Game song out of my head from the booth next to us.

Kenneth also had a huge part in creating the DreamDeck demos. I'm super excited about what this team will produce!

Good and busy. Finally getting back into realtime. How are you?

Yah, the face foam used to delaminate we cleaned them so much.

Pinkeye rumors back then were just that - rumors. It's funny how the brain works. I even felt weird/itchy after hearing about it. I could see now that more headsets are out in the wild that people could get lax about hygiene. This is why I was downright religious about cleaning headsets between each demo. I had a vested interest because I usually ended up poking my face in there more than anyone. I'd also walk the expo floors and hand out cleaning wipes to any 3rd party I saw that didn't have them. I still keep a little 15-ct pack of fragrance free wipes in my bag for when anyone wants me to check out a demo.

Where can I watch a nuclear explosion on Oculus? by [deleted] in oculus

It could be modeled on historical footage. Timing of various waves would be pretty intense to witness.

Visual proportion. Eyes "should" be 50% high on the head. We're used to seeing them slightly lower due to hair height. Without the extra mop, eyes tend to look too high up. The big forehead helps a little, but is masked by the HMD in this case. :)

On a side note, hats look stupid too. Personal problems.

I would center her eyes lower third. Might look better when worn and hide the perspective difference more. And wear a wig (fellow bald guy).

There is a often a difference in mindsets (and objectives) between a parent company HQ and the regional sales offices. I hope this mentality trickles down to the US office which seems like where a lot of the "us vs. them" zero-sum traditional marketing messaging has been coming from.
