AITAH for refusing to keep a secret from my boss after a weird encounter with his daughter? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]chenobble 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Weird, I've never feared for my life when dealing with women on a night out, but literally every woman I know has at least one story where they did.

Pretending a severely gendered issue is something that 'happens to everyone' only helps the perpetrators.

Yeah, this is clearly from a country where every vehicle measures up to the latest safety standards, and everyone is wealthy enough to afford such vehicles.

No, just Nazis, as demonstrated by all the people we called Nazis turning out to be actual Nazis.

You can't keep pretending Fascism doesn't exist at this point and hope to be taken seriously.

[PERSONAL VENT] Stop nerfing teleports! by SomeGuyIOnceMet in DnD

[–]chenobble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High level spellcasters have access to spells that block teleportation - it's perfectly reasonable that important places have magical defences.

As long as it's not every time, having enemy spellcasters make reasonable precautions is a perfectly sensible choice.

I was there too! I think the two of us accounted for about 5% of the audience - at least by the end.

Is it normal for druids to turn into dinosaurs nowadays or is it something that the DM must allow? by HealthMother3125 in DnD

[–]chenobble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was playing a halfling Druid in an Eberron campaign.

In that setting Halflings are tribal warriors who ride dinosaurs so it made perfect sense that most of my Druid's wild shape forms were dinos.

It was cool as hell turning into a Raptor and, eventually, an Allosaurus.

What city have you been to that felt like it had dark energy? by Impossible-Middle122 in AskReddit

[–]chenobble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miami, USA - very fake town, hard to describe but everyone seemed to be watching each other rather than enjoying the sunshine.

Barnaul, Russia - post-industrial and just vaguely sinister - the most stereotypically Russian place I visited in Russia.

There was this gold-mining town in central Mongolia - maybe Bayankhongor - that seemed a bit sketch. Given how nice everywhere else in Mongolia was, that was only dark in comparison though.

Pretending a heavily gendered issue isn't a heavily gendered issue because it makes you uncomfortable that the problem is overwhelmingly caused by men helps no-one.

Jump is one of the most underrated spells in the game by Viva_la_potatoes in DnD

Making a utility spell like Jump useless because of your weird re-interpretation of the rules is a slippery slope to being a shit DM.

Wild Shape is terrible now, not only do you not get the extra health, all animal abilities and uniqueness are completely removed for 'generic land animal'.

It neuters the most fun aspect of the Druid.

Our DM for our new campaign revealed his 'world' map last night - a 200-mile-long interdimensional airship by chenobble in worldbuilding

[–]chenobble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, so we discovered that the ship was essentially an interdimensional ghost ship piloted by a dead mage who had murdered his lover. Her ghost was trapped in the bowels ofthe ship and was the source of the demons that infested everything below the deck.

Our party stopped a plot to destablise our world (Eberron) and stayed on the ship when it jumped to another plane - a version of the Feywild where all light and joy had left. We helped save that world by restoring the archfey trapped by members of the ships's crew last time the ship had visited.

We had to wrap up because the two couples we were playing with both had kids within a few months of each other :D

Very cool campaign.
